Soo happy you got the solar panels and they were relatively cheap! I got a backup battery and the 3'x4' solar panel for it was about $300. So you got a DEAL! And from someone who is freezing in winter, please turn on the heat for Leslie!
Lovely vlog, amazing to see the chateau with a dusting of snow, solar panels BOOM! A tasty dinner of the ones that got a little too close looks SO yummy...agree with Leslie on the lardons, brilliant! Fun trip to the brocante and treasures abound! The Christmas carol at the end with just the perfect ending for the first day of Advent! I was setting the altar and hanging Advent banners at our Anglican Church on Saturday afternoon and saw a red fox walk along our sidewalk just outside the church doors. I ran to the window to watch his little journey and he ended up at the back of our church property, near a pond on a fallen tree that was covered with snow (Live on the western slope of the San Juan Mountains in SW CO). He wandered back and forth look out from this elevated location before continuing on his wander. I felt that the Advent Fox showed up just at the most magical time in our church calendar season of Advent. I hope he will return often for a wee visit especially on the day before Advent when I'm always at church dressing the altar and hanging banners. O Come, O Come, Emmanual! Cheers!
Our French Chateau said they stay pretty warm in their chateau. It's a lot smaller than yours though. More like a manor house. They have two heating sources they utilize.. They heat the downstairs rooms pretty well, but they have to use additional heating upstairs, for now. They have an oil furnace that they run for about 20 minutes, because it heats the rooms fast. Then they turn it off and light the wood burning furnace. They said the oil is expensive and without it, it would take three days with just the wood. They source their wood from their land, so it costs no money. Eventually, they're going to add underfloor heating, to the downstairs, by installing it on the basement ceiling. Since heat rises, they're hoping it will help to heat the second floor. The key is insulating the attic and the basement ceilings. You probably know all of this, already! 😊 Glad Leslie won! 👍
Thank you for this, so homey and comforting to spend this time with you. The piano makes a lovely addition, with music and the warmth of your willingness to share your genuine selves with us for this holiday count down.
Bonjour Leslie and Rob, happy Advent. Congratulations on the solar panels, every little bit helps. Thanks for taking us along to the Brocant, that's always fun. I love the Christmas Carole it was beautiful. Lots of love from N.Y.
I always buy practical things for my grown children. They buy their wants as we do so they appreciate practical things like towels, rechargeable flashlights, Luminara candles, wool ball caps for the guys etc. I purchased pretty baskets this year and have managed to fill them up! Love this video. Even your dinner looked delicious! Have a blessed week!
Now i watch a lot of Chateau Channels but have always loved this Chateau but with snow around it , its even more stunning . . Mr Bing loves his momma little face through the door . 🥰😍😘 I spotted the lovely Candelabra when u first walked in , but loved all the furniture that u showed us all . see ya .
US expat immigrant to Japan… wild boar are a problem here too so there are some recipes to be found by googling, things like Nabe(aka hot pot) and Japanese style curry etc. We also have similar issues with housing with lack of central heating, no insulation and single paned windows being standard. Lots of people here put bubble wrap on the windows and it helps make it less cold and the space heaters be more effective.
That would be so cool if you could have an Advent calendar made out of the Chateau in winter scenery with chocolate in the windows. We could donate for one inside buying.
Love the opening photo of the Chateau with the fence and the snow. Also love that you’re both there this year for advent, that’s such a blessing, Merry Christmas and be blessed from Calgary, Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 🎅🤶🎄
you can make wild boar like a boeuf bourguignon; but put some spices like cloves, a very little cinnamom and some red fruit (raspberries, redcurrant, etc...) or some apple. in Belgium we oftencombine a stew of wild boar witha salad of finely cut raw Brussels andives (excluding the bitter root piece) mixed with mayonaise, a very little vinegar and some peper and salt.
What wonderful news from your Church support. Praise the Lord. It was a joy hearing you play and sing Hark the Heralds Angels sing...one of my favs. God bless you both.
I always look forward to your guy’s advent videos! They’re my 2nd favorites, my first being your videos with the students! Love that you guys got snow for the intro this year!!
Too funny, the truck startled me. I worked, retired now, for XPO Logistics as receiving clerk for 7 years, Sandston, Virginia, but we had HP products only.
great to see the snow. enjoyed the solar panel video. Should be a good addition and hope it means heat for you. I love the advent series so look forward to it for 2024.
It’s so surreal to be watching these videos now, like I have these past few years, and to have just come back home from actually being in the LVSA program. By only watching the videos, I was confused at the layout of the basement and of the surrounding land and stables. But now since I was actually there, I understand how it all works!! And I’ve actually been to that brocante!! And we sat and worshiped around that piano! And I met Mr. Bingley! And I’ve eaten Leslie’s amazing food! Thank you so much for running this program and letting me experience a dream come true!
Thank you for the caroling invitation. It was nice to sing out loud. For whatever reason, it made me emotional so my voice was really wobbly. Happy First Day of Advent. Blessings!
You kids are just as cute as a bug's ear. (this is a rural Midwest early 20th century equivalent of 'just adorable') So looking forward to this year's series.
Civet de sanglier ... think it's onions, garlic, red wine, cinnamon, black pepper, some water, and cacao or dark chocolate ... at least that's how my french neighbours make it and it's always better the next day😊
Is it Dec 1 already?! Oh my. Heating your chateau would be a dream and it sounds like it is now attainable. Great that you have some generous sources for funds. Although no doubt the chateau eats money at a faster pace than you can feed it. Hopefully your channel will continue to grow and provide more funds also. Leslie I really enjoyed your cooking and brocante visit. You are so right about grown kids. Really tough to shop for them now, so it’s all just fun stocking bits. Merry December from Vancouver, Canada.
You can cook it with some red wine, 2 or 3 glasses, and some vegetable broth, and as done into the oven, low temperature 130 deg C for 3 hours at least depending of the size of the pieces. You can do similar recipe with the beef ch
Loved this! Really getting us ready for the Christmas season! We were at Monticello Antiques in PDX on Black Friday and thought of you 😊 I turned to my husband and said ‘look at us…just like Rob and Leslie at the Brocante’! Merry Christmas to you! Paul and Kris Jellum
Leslie has a beautiful singing voice. Is there anything she can't do? The solar panels will keep you busy for awhile, Rob. Love the advent series. I'm now on Advent Day 2 episode.
That was BEAUTIFUL, yall! Ok if you’re going to be singing like that, you’ve gotta get another mike. Not a criticism of your audio, meant as a compliment on your singing. You’ve gotta do it justice. Thank you, what a blessing.
Heat is good for maintaining the chateau, for controlling moisture etc. it isn’t just about comfort. Any progress you can make in that regard will be to your benefit. Hope the solar panels help.
Our daughter will be at your spring session. We have had solar for 3 years in Alberta. You might be disappointed how much you actually get from solar, but when it is really sunny they really produce. I don’t if you will be able to monitor exactly what they are putting out, but if you are able to time your usage exactly when it is sunny that would be your best benefit. Your chateau is gorgeous‼️🥰💕💕💕 I love Christmas and Hanukkah music❣️Marty Goetz’s “Festival of Lights” CD is beautiful ❣️ (PS Jesus didn’t eat pork.) God bless you both and your pup🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Wow, I love the caroling! This was an amazing video. Hope you get the solar panels up and working soon. I with you Rob, you need to buy more solar panels. Do they work well in freezing weather?
That carolling was the best! Thank you.
Soo happy you got the solar panels and they were relatively cheap! I got a backup battery and the 3'x4' solar panel for it was about $300. So you got a DEAL! And from someone who is freezing in winter, please turn on the heat for Leslie!
Rob and Leslie, I'm excited to watch. Never missed a video since day one, loved them all. Continuing prayers for you and the ministry.
The Christmas carol adds a personal and festive touch to your advent 🎄🎄

Beautiful ending ❤
Such a nice pleasant video-thanks for the share guys!!!
I sure hope the solar panels work for the Chateau, you can't enjoy a home if it's bitter cold or too hot. Blessings to you both. Kathy USA 🇺🇸

Beef jowl that you cut into 4 pieces around 4 hours into the oven, with carrots and potatoes. Very tasty during winter time 😊
Can you run any wood stoves through the chimney?
Beautiful singing, beautiful room so prettily decorated ❤❤❤
Love the singing at the end
the sanglier looked so yummy - and better eat them than let your garden be destroyed 🙂Merry 1st advent - Hark🌲

Wonderful video ..the piano is such an excellent addition to the chateau
Looking forward to the daily advents! Loved the shopping trip Leslie.
Great video 👍 The solar panels technology will improve year on year so if you create a battery storage that's the way to go😊
😲 16:07 I have that pink chair! I inherited it from my grandparents! 😮🤯
Loved this video ❤
love
Yes, take heart for your wife, use some heat if for only her sake❤😊
We got our first snow yesterday here in southern Ontario. Love the Advent series.
So excited for the Advent Series this year!!!!

Very nice. Are the fireplaces unusable? Seems like you could put wood stove inserts in them for some heat.
Your chateau is gorgeous‼️🥰💕💕💕 I love Christmas and Hanukkah music❣️Marty Goetz’s “Festival of Lights” CD is beautiful ❣️ (PS Jesus didn’t eat pork.) God bless you both and your pup🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Dude! Put on a little heat for your wife that works sooo hard! That's one thing not to be such a buffalo squeezer on!❤❤❤❤
You need to make a cozy room. Pick a smaller room, insulate, turn on the heat in that room. Get a woodstove in it. Make it cozy.
Loved it when you said, " there's no off button on the frugal switch". Mind if I borrow that? You guys are doing great over there.
❤🎉
Wow, I love the caroling! This was an amazing video. Hope you get the solar panels up and working soon. I with you Rob, you need to buy more solar panels. Do they work well in freezing weather?
I wear my dish washing gloves when I cut onion and it makes a huge difference. I wonder if the absorption into the skin makes it worse. Happy Advent!
I’m in Newport oregon for Thanksgiving and have thought of you both. Gorgeous weather.
Too bad you can't vent the oven heat to one chosen room upstairs...and it would smell great!
Motivation to cook or bake often 😊
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That was wonderful. Thanks so much. How was the wild boar?🇨🇦🍖
Hi Rob & Leslie! Happy Holidays! Would you mind sharing the name of that Brocante SVP? Merci!
Beaufort en vallée is the town, I think the name of the brocante too maybe?
Merci!
