After that I spent a while wearing something called Jeer, which was the cheap deodorant version of the same scent. This video has super taken me back.
I wore Joop for men when I was younger and sought out Joop for women thinking it would be pretty cool if BOTH worked well with my body chemistry and could switch between them. Well, the smell of Joop for her was SUPER sharp and smelled very masculine (IMO) and did not work well with my chemistry at all-smelling very spiky and a bit acidic on me. It seemed like it would have been better suited for a man, as the Joop for men was much sweeter and more delicate than the kind meant for women.

So often I find people walking down the aisles if a perfume store, picking it bottles and looking confused. There is an art, a culture and a science behind it. Joop has its own cult following. Mostly younger guys who enjoy clubbing. Its a synthetic smelling scent and not for everyone. FYI a scent may smell great on someone else but not on you because it interacts with your skin type and ph etc. Many people with darker skin also have what some call hungry skin that seems to eat the fragrance. ie. They need to apply more to make it last so they often lean towards stronger, more middle eastern style scents. I personally know people like this. I'm not a huge cologne user. Mine can last five years or longer. I only really use cologne on dates or special occasions. They're usually given to me as Christmas gifts, so I normally move onto the newer one. I have very fond memories of Joop! though. My dad had it back in the late '90s or early '00s. It had more of a maroon colour at the time (it may have been a different edition). I didn't really like it and I found the name kind of silly. My dad didn't have the best fashion sense either, so I assumed it was a crap brand. However, I was given a bottle of Joop! Jump (the blue one) as a Christmas present around 2010. I kind of saw it as a cheapish gift (it's no Hugo Boss or Giorgio Armani), but it was surprisingly nice. I always got compliments on it. I then got the pink one a Christmas or two after that (it had more of a frosted glass bottle) and I really liked that one too. It was a little bit feminine, but it worked well in the summer. I always got compliments on it too. I seem to have misplaced them though around 2015, when I moved house (they must be in a box somewhere in my garage). It was fine though, I had moved onto something a little more high end by then (Acqua di Gio). Well, fast forward to 2019 and I'm all out of Acqua di Gio. I was planning on getting another high-end fragrance (I was thinking Boss Bottled), but I saw a Joop! section in the department store. It brought back all these pleasant memories, so I had to get another bottle of Joop! Jump. Boss can wait. I still get compliments on it, just like before. I think it has a perfect balance. It's not too expensive; it can make a good Christmas present (for a brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law, etc.) without being too extravagant. It doesn't smell as cheap as other $35, pharmacy-type fragrances. It's also pretty rare, so you don't go around smelling like everyone else. In fact, the girl I was with when I bought my second bottle of Joop! Jump even said that. She liked the Boss Bottled, but she thought I'd smell like every other guy who uses that. She preferred the Joop! Damn. I just had to give myself two sprays right now. One for Conan and one for Tracy. Joop!

When I listened to that episode I was surprised people in the audience didn't know Joop!. I knew this cologne since forever. But then again I'm a perfume person and I write perfume reviews so...
There's a backstory here and I think it's that Conan and Tracy both ended up somehow heavily invested in Joop! and wrote this whole plot to get people to buy it.
I was a solid Calvin Klein Obsession cologne wearer until a girlfriend bought me some JOOP in the mid 1990s. I still have that bottle of cologne - its a different scent. Still have about 70% of it, but I'm sure it doesn't smell the way it's supposed to, by now lol....... My bottle of the cologne says "Eau De Toilette" towards the bottom front face of the bottle. There's also a sticker on the bottom base of the bottle, with additional info. It does have a more sweeter sent than Obsession, which is more of a spicy scent. When I first smelled it, I thought it was supposed to be women than for men.....
I had an old boss who wore Joop, and he was one of those guys who didn't know the appropriate amount of cologne to wear and would also reapply during the day when it started to "fade" (ie fade to a tolerable level)
The scent profile changes like 12 times per spray throughout the day.. the very first sent in with you get off of it is a little jarring but then it gets good.. I would not spray it all over yourself right before you walk in the door..
One of the Backstreet Boys favorite scents was Joop! back in the day when they did those interviews for teeny bopper magazines. And so I’d go to the department store and spray it on the tester sheets and bring it home and pretend he was there. It’s definitely wasn’t a drugstore brand hahaha
When i was a teenager i was given a bottle of Joop! from my moms friend. I found out that our cats went CRAZY from it. They LOVED Joop. Give it a shot.
I’ve been wearing JUPE since I was 10, my dad always had a bottle and both him and my mother loved it. I’m now 21 and I will never wear another cologne for as long as I live and I swear to good people better not jack up the prices because of this video
One of the colognes my dad use to wear was Joop, in the 90s. 😄 He always smelled great. Men. Wear cologne. I LOVE when a man walks past and smells amazing. Same with women.
Well, I'm glad Tracy Morgan did everything in his power to literally bring the exclamation point across, LOL😂 BTW: As to the question of Tracy wearing that cologne or not - well, there are a lot of different perfumes out there by Joop!, so...
According to the Magic Googling Box Joop! Was actually popular in the 90’s. Apparently Joop! Is a German fashion brand. It might not be as trashy as we think. Just FYI.
I'd love to see a Joop commercial with Conan and Tracy where they're in Speedos against a white background, running around, dumping buckets of Joop-colored liquids all over themselves...acting sensually, of course...🤣
The day before I was set to graduate Boot Camp the company was allowed a day off on base. We could go to the PX (on base department store), go bowling, or do whatever we wanted to do (accept drink or smoke) for a few hours. One of the goofy kids in my platoon bought a bottle of Joop at the PX and one of our Drill Instructors sprayed us all down for our graduation the next day. To this day I still wonder if he was offing up some "wind drift" (cologne) because he though it smelled good or if he was messing with us by making us smell effeminate. All I know for sure is that I couldn't wait to get that smell out of my Dress Blues.
I LOVE Tracy Morgan but if I could suggest anything, it's that he signs Salt N' Peppa for the Joop song (think their song "Shoop") and do an international commercial for his cologne with Salt 'N' Peppa singing Joop (instead of Shoop) like "Ohhh yeeahh! I wanna Joop, baby..." 🎶🎶🎶🎶 Also I wanna see Tracy guest or host SNL. I miss Brian Fellows.
I was curious about this cologne because of all the Spice Adams memes I saw online and I knew i had to get a bottle after how pleasant it smelled. And I’m not a cologne or perfume person by any stretch of the word.

btw joop is pronounced really different. its a german designer: wolfgang joop. there is way more than 1 scent he created
Yes, it's pronounced Yowp .
When I listened to that episode I was surprised people in the audience didn't know Joop!. I knew this cologne since forever. But then again I'm a perfume person and I write perfume reviews so...
JOOP being the aftershave ‘cologne’ of choice of teenage cider drinking boys in 1994.
Can we have more of perfume reviews
😂😂😂😂😂
There's a backstory here and I think it's that Conan and Tracy both ended up somehow heavily invested in Joop! and wrote this whole plot to get people to buy it.
He does make a lot of bad investments like those theme restaurants lol
From their reaction… Maybe it should have been called POOP!!! 😮 😂😂😂
I've been using JOOP! since 1993
I wore Joop in my early twenties as it didn’t smell like the other “masculine” colognes. I still enjoy the scent.
it is funny to hear it pronounced this way. Juup, Juup!
1:23 That reminds me of aftershock... 😆
Joop is for the man that embraces a lil bit of his feminine side. Subtle, sweet with bits of floral and tobacco notes.
My uncle used to use this stuff, he pronounced it Yope.
I had an old boss who wore Joop, and he was one of those guys who didn't know the appropriate amount of cologne to wear and would also reapply during the day when it started to "fade" (ie fade to a tolerable level)
U gotta get that Joop-Joop!
I remember Joop from high school. In the 90s
We wait with bated breath for Conan's updated on his JOOP!-ification...
I'm surprised they've never heard of Joop before, it's a very well known cologne in the UK
"Oh. My. God." vs "YASSS!!!" defines their relationship.
I still have my bottle of Joop from 2009 😂
Conan accidentally did Jim Carrey's breath spray gag from Dumb & Dumber
“THAT Conan would wear a cologne.” I just love Sona
Omg I freaking love his impressions/accents. Lmao
When i was a teenager i was given a bottle of Joop! from my moms friend. I found out that our cats went CRAZY from it. They LOVED Joop. Give it a shot.
I used to wear that cologne back in the day in high school. The 1990s were a great time. 😁🤙
I remember Joop! and I always thought it stunk.
Well, I'm glad Tracy Morgan did everything in his power to literally bring the exclamation point across, LOL😂
BTW: As to the question of Tracy wearing that cologne or not - well, there are a lot of different perfumes out there by Joop!, so...
I wonder if you can purchase JOOP at Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP!!! 😮
We need that follow-up 😂
In the 90's a co-worker used Joop! It was a huge improvement over the musk smelling colognes popular at that time.
Joop was my favorite cologne in my late teens. Now I feel old!!
I use to wear that back in 91/92 even it first came out and it's pronounced ( Yo'p).
it’s a german brand, in german, you would pronounce it as “yope”.
Joop takes me back to high school!! Nice to know that adults wear it too 😂😂
I cant believe they've never heard of joop! It was big in the early 2000s.
I wanna Joop, baby..." 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Also I wanna see Tracy guest or host SNL. I miss Brian Fellows.
My scent of choice in my teenage years. The girls LOVED it which was the only reason I used it but it's definitely a young man's cologne
Lol I have this cologne. My uncle put me on back in the late 90s! Not my favorite but it’s like nostalgia for me
I was curious about this cologne because of all the Spice Adams memes I saw online and I knew i had to get a bottle after how pleasant it smelled. And I’m not a cologne or perfume person by any stretch of the word.
Joop is coming back? I've been wearing it for over 25 years. Funny to see so much fuss over it. I've never heard it mentioned by anyone else in all this time.
Joop was all the rage in Ireland for teenagers 15 years ago.
"I don't have a show card"
"Fantastic"
Conan holding onto that Joop like it's the elixir of youth.
No story ever ended badly that began with the phrase "I like the way I'm going to smell when I go home tonight," except like, all of them.
Matt looks like a barista that will spend 20 minutes describing every detail of the coffee he's serving me..
Only to start playing celtic mandolin, while I awkwardly sip my black coffee.
thanks to my pops this has always been my main cologne. has never smelled like a cologne to me. just an amazing fragrance
my mum bought me Joop as a teenager and I used to wear it all the time!
Matt will NEVER see that $35
IDK if you guys know this....If you put the full hour podcasts on RUclips... I will watch them.
Actually, it's pronounced more like 'yope' like hope.
I've given this a lot of thought, and I think Conan should start his own cologne line called "Hot Goss" 🔥
Maybe Tracy was wearing the female version. The one you guys have is for men.
Omg joop was everywhere in the 90’s and early 2000s. I thought it was pronounced yoop for some reason 😂
Seeing this at Duane Reade and Rite Aide for years ... I've ALWAYS Wondered what JOOP! smells like... This clip may have just put me over the edge. (To buy some)
