  • I had no idea that changing the tremolo block in your guitar could change your guitar's tone.
    I recently discovered the Jeff Loomis Signature Block by Stone Tone. I came across a video of him talking about it and how he has been using this block for many years.
    Check Out the Stone Tone Blocks at Floyd Rose (Stone Tone exclusive global distributor):

    Jeff Loomis video:
    • Jeff Loomis Discusses ...
    I've been a Jeff Loomis fan for a while now (also a fan of Nevermore) and saw him live with Arch Enemy in 2017. What a killer concert!
    He just seems like a cool dude, a phenomenal guitarist, and I trust his recommendations.
    In the video, I take you through my experience, and how I installed it, and you'll hear several demonstrations with of LTD M-1000 Deluxe guitar that has the new Stone Tone Jeff Loomis block.
    Be sure to hang around for the end where I give you my true thoughts on this tremolo block.
    Lastly, a big thank you to the folks at Replay Guitar Exchange, specifically Raven who installed this block in my LTD guitar and for the really awesome setup he did.
    Keep it Metal,
    Jason

    It really is an amazing block. I stumbled upon these before there were any artist endorsements or signature models and I was blown away... I have brass, big fat brass, tungsten and those are awesome but the Stone is in a category of it's own here.
    If you own multiple Floyd models just load one of these up, say you have two of the limited 1984 models, take the big fat brass off one and install the Stone. Next string change, pop the other floyd in with the Stone on it, use the same springs, make your ground connection, let her rip... you'll notice the difference before ever plugging in. I always roll with 37mm blocks no matter what material they're made from so the A/B is spot on and indisputable. You can feel and hear the difference instantly.

      I didn't attempt to install this thing myself (I would've probably screwed it up!). I had a pro at my local shop (Replay Guitar Exchange in Tampa) handle that.
      I'm going to downtune this guitar to D standard and see how it sounds...I think the block may shine a bit more with that tuning. There will be a video on that coming soon.

    So, I have a used Epiphone Classic Worn (my first electric) and love every bit of it but have been curious of the Ltd variation. I know it’s what solo guitarists like Kirk Hammett use for punching solos but didn’t know how it sounded for ringing those chords out. A Ltd. would be on my long wish lists of guitars in the future. Thank you Jason on educating me what the Ltd. is really capable of ✊✊💪💪

      Thank you, my friend. Yeah, that LTD is well-suited for metal and the fretboard is effortless. I'd also like to try the Epiphone style LTD...I don't think I've ever played one.

      @@jasonstallworth Your welcome, brother 💪 The Epiphone is a dream to rip on. I’ve had acoustic guitars mostly in my guitar playing years but now falling in love electric guitars. I’d like to try a Charvel or Jackson. So in love with the Flying V and Explorer shape. Cheers Man ✊✊

    Glad to see the LTD back in action! I have an M200FM in the same color and finish. I got it as a mod platform, instead of the M1000, only because I'm not a fan of abalone. I have a suggestion for another mod for you. I noticed that you have your trem arm swinging free. Check out the Red Bishop Magik Arm. It changes the arm from a screw in collar, to a push in type, and the threaded collar acts as a tension adjustment. It eliminates that bit of play in the arm, when you have it swinging free. I installed one on my LTD, and it works well, especially for slow vibrato, above and below pitch. I also have a 1988 U.S. made B.C. Rich ST-III, that I installed a 42mm brass block, from F-U Tone in. I also got a noticeable increase in sustain and clarity. I'm definitely going to look into the Stone Tone, for my LTD, though. Big blocks are a great upgrade. Lastly, (I'm rambling) the riffs you were playing at the end, sounded like Jake E. Lee, my favorite Ozzy guitarist. Of course, no disrespect to Randy and Zakk. Sounded awesome! 🤘🏼

    • @jasonstallworth
      @jasonstallworth  Год назад +1

      Yeah I haven'y played this one as much. And I do love certain things about this guitar but my hands fit around my Ibanez RG a bit better. And yeah, the abalone looks cool to some but man, it shows fingerprints easy!
      I also love Jake E Lee's style! And yeah, Ozzy had some amazing guitarists!

    Ah the golden years of LTD, ive got a few 1000-deluxe LTD's and they all are really great from back in the day, Korea made and were a steal. Ive got the Loomis Kelly Pro and im very impressed with the Blackouts, thinking about a Stone tone for my KH2 ESP actually a its not as clear as a few of my others.

    I love popping in big brass blocks on my tremolos. Its a cool thing to see when you turn them over. But in my experience there's not much tonal difference that I've heard, it just makes the guitar slightly louder. It would've been nice to hear a before and after so we could hear the difference but regardless, great video! :)

      Dude, I never knew this could have any impact until I saw Jeff Loomis talking about.

      The Brass blocks will generally add more volume and possibly clarity but not change the tone much.
      These Stone Tone blocks are made of granite which certainly seems to have a lot of clarity.
      Titanium blocks are supposed to add a little bit more attack because of the material but those are crazy expensive.
      This Stone Tone seems comparable to a really nice quality big brass block. The beveled edge is a nice feature so it doesn't effect use of the floating bridge for dive-bombing and pull ups.

    The music store amp wasn't giving a good tone but once you got it home... Spot on! With your home gear, it is seems subtle but it's noticable, not sure how to describe it. Your home equipment I could hear the sustain is better and the notes were more articulated or balanced?
    Not sure, keep playing it! Sounds great!

    • @jasonstallworth
      @jasonstallworth  Год назад +1

      Yeah man, it's always best on the gear you're familiar with (although that Blackstar was pretty cool...my mic didn't do it justice at all - when I got home, I was able to record with a mic and direct). And yes, it's a subtle difference. It's not a 'night and day' difference at all. And that was the biggest thing that stood out; a bit more clarity.

    People of the earth try to understand, there is tones of BS marketing that will do anything to make you buy tone fairy tales, and this block is one of them!
    Maybe bats can hear differences but we humans can't, so don't worry about it, let the marketing boys eat there own nonsense! The shoes you are wearing probably have more effect on your guitar tone than this block, just concentrate on practicing your instrument.

      It's all your opinion at the end of the day. If you feel something isn't working (or won't work) for you, then don't go that route.
      My curiosity was struck by hearing what Jeff Loomis had to say and why he uses these. I don't think Jeff is the type if person that would steer someone with marketing. But that's just my opinion.
