On this day I decided to target a Turbot for the first time ever.
Flat fish fishing is a past time of mine from when I was a young lad and iv never really had much interest in targeting them as an adult.
I suppose I'm all flattied out!!
I set up using my Limitless rods, The Match Lite and The Competition 3 piece continental and chucked out to see what was on offer.

Another great video Steve, saw someone fishing when I was golfing this morning and surprise surprise it was you as I was talking to Craig. Hope you got some good footage, looking forward to watching it in the future. That beach has fished really well in daylight on small tides when there has been a sea on.

Eyup Steve. I would try small thin strips of silver mackerel belly. I got talking to one of the old boys at Bridlington stood on the North pier.
He had been fishing competitions in the area for 50 years. Said straight up, your baits are too big... cut them down to tiny strips for me and said exactly where to cast and let it roll around.
Was the best session of my life as an adult at the time. Followed his advice since and kept baits smaller and had a lot more success. I suppose when we are used to fishing for Cod and Pollock they have big mouths but a Dab on the other hand has a tiny mouth.

1/0 hook and a small strip of Mackerel or razor clams , a few beads or bling, chucked 3rd breaker out. Move your bait a few winds every 10 mins.

Another great video Steve, I've seen on another channel whereby they pull the hook out of the gill plate and wrap the line around the bend of the hook 3 or 4 times and then pull the hook out backwards without putting degorger back into the mouth of the fish, Crack on and have a great 25 😊😊😊

I have fished up there as far back as fifty years ago mostly off the castle in the winter used to catch cod up to ten lbs it’s not the same anymore but just nice to be there great place

Excellent vid Steve. Looking forward to the summer season and trying lure fishing for the first time (apart from spinning for mackerel ) so plenty of tips and tricks please, have been following Northumbrian Folkery for a while now seems like a good guy and your joint adventures should be cracking, Also found setting the hook recently and like his down to earth attitude.

I've always found using small spoons and beads casting just over the third breaker works well

Hi Steve, thanks for all the effort, BZ on the vlogs. I’m fairly new to fishing, and I’d love to have a night fishing session up on the Northumberland coast. I’ve been using Google Earth to look at various marks. Every one I look at has restricted parking, no overnight parking allowed. Can you recommend a location where I won’t get ticketed for parking over night please? Any guidance would be very much appreciated, thanks in anticipation.

Same problem finding places to park, I assume the golf course car park is where you park for Embleton beech.
Distance m8, casting way 2 far…. Just behind the breakers.. especially on embleton..👌
