I appreciate it.
Living here 13 years and counting, great life!
The name says it all 👌🏿
Hey, I'm probably going to say something stupid, but I'm a white guy and that's our role in life! It really put a smile on my face to see a group of African Americans just totally at ease, enjoying themselves, dressed to a tee, totally letting down their guard, and sharing their knowledge of Panama. Maybe it's the shared experience of being in a fun foreign country that creates this friendly exchange, or maybe it's your skill as an interviewer. That was really nice.
😂...it's all good👍🏿
I was there a few weeks ago via Argentina. The Jamaican restaurant
EL Chorrillo is a low-income area. Originally it was where the Americans built housing for the Black immigrants, mostly from Jamaica and Barbados, brought over as manual labor during the canal construction.
Yep, I’m Panamanian but my family came from Jamaica to work on the canal and have been here ever since. We’re proud of both countries🇵🇦🇯🇲
That's the hood
@@leeantonio46 Yes. Roberto Duran is from there.
También árabes y algunos europeos que progresivamente se fueron mezclando y luego empezó a llegar gente de algunas provincias como cocle, azuero, veraguas , chiriqui y bocas del toro e incluso muchos indigenas
It was nice meeting you my brother! Make sure to go to Bocas Del Toro🔥🔥We had a blast. Keep up the great work
Hey, same here and thanks.. I'll keep Bocas on the list.. I hope you start your channel someday 👍🏿
I like these types of videos, where you interact with men and women in the city you're staying in it, whether locals or tourists. You should do more.
💗 this content and such an interesting chat 💬 traveler to traveler. Knowledgeable insights ✈️🌎.
*Who does this tour he is talking about?* Really wanting to visit 🇵🇦!
I appreciate this vlog and the content of your channel. I’ll be headed to Panama soon and I need all the information I can access before hand. Thank you.
Dope video
Panama wasn’t even on my radar but it is now
El caribe was the first restaurant we went to when we were in Panama last month. The food was really good. I’m use to eating my white rice with sauce/gravy but I didn’t need it as the white rice that was served taste great without it. Four people in my party actually ate here twice
Great info...thank you. I will be in Panama next month and will definitely try El Caribe restaurant.
I had such an amazing time in this restaurants i even added them on my guide lol great food
Was just in Panama 2 weeks ago. I feel like I missed out on seeing some great places like this one. I really wanted to experience a local vibe like I see here but it was very hard to communicate because of the language barrier. I stayed in the city btw for 1 week. Panama is Beautiful though and I'm definitely planning another visit, this time in another area. Thanks for sharing this vlog, totally enjoyed it! Will make note of this restaurant 👍🏽
Nice video. I will check out El Caribe when I get there.
Excellent restaurant recommendation, El Caribe!! Enjoyed your interview with Mauritza who is gracious & friendly. Nice area to walk around 🍻
God willing I'll be In Panama City Feb.5th, I eat @El Caribe everytime I'm in panama, and I've met and chatted with the owner, the lady you briefly Interviewed back in 2018, very nice lady, I had lunch @El Caribe back in April of last year, I didn't see the owner then but, her Chef a tall slim brother was still there cheffing up some bangin Oxtails, I heard her Restaurant was moving to a new location, across the street from the old and now defunct casino/Hotel Veneto
I’m definitely going for the Oxtails
Good stuff bro! I love this…
Spot on El Caribe Restaurant on Via Argentina in the El Cangrejo section of Panama City is the place to be. 💯
Looks like coconut rice and pigeon peas with that shrimp recognize the food love it.
We'll be there in March!🙌🙌🙌
I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the shout out. 😀
Thanks for the tip 👌🏿
Looks like a lovely restaurant.
Nice work!!👌🏿
Good video keep up good work
Heeeeyyyy!!!! You got me wanting to just "Bust A Move Permanently To Bouquete, Panama or Panama City!!!!! (Early Retirement!!!!!) God Bless!!!!!!!🙏☺️
I WAS PLEASED THAT YOU FIND THIS BEAUTIFUL RESTAURANT in Panama English is spoken and even more so if it is the Afro-descendant community because they are the heritage of the canal workers who came from the Antilles and the Caribbean and left their customs their language their rich seasoning the most popular neighborhoods like down the river chorrillo San miguel is a test even though they are very dangerous neighborhoods for the brave despite the seafood market and the fine restaurants the best place where I ate seafood was the chorrillo there if there is the true Afro-Caribbean flavor it hurts that the Panamanian state not looking for a way to make this place something wonderful because it has potential if you see they are unrestored houses equal to those of the old town only separated by a yellow line and its gastronomy speaks for itself
Another Great video my brother!👍🏾✊🏽
Much appreciated 👍🏿
Looks like as a people we are better off else where. Any where but the states and the UK
Nice area. The food looks so good.
It was delicious 👌🏿
Hi Maritza from El Caribe... Best food on Via Argentina...and best hot sauce....
Hi Daryl Gault
Panama is an amazing place and my secret spot, and now it's out. Lol
Food looks better than a lot of Colombian food.
The RUclips algorithms introduced me to your channel and I've enjoyed watching your videos, especially since I recently spent 4 weeks in Panama City studying Spanish in Casco Viejo. From your past videos I see you've spent a lot of time in Latin America. Was curious about your story, why you're traveling there, are you a full-time traveler, whether or not you're working beyond the RUclips thing (you look too young to be retired LOL), etc. Looks like the kind of life I could enjoy. Cheers!
What does algorithm even means?
Hey, welcome to the channel. I'll make a video about that. 👍🏿

You have to get out more often ...

Ms. SANDRA ...
Algorithms is a program that youtube uses to bring you content on what you usually watch. You know like if you watch traveling videos, the program send you videos that have to do with traveling. And like that...
ONE LOVE !
I gotta say Panama looks nice.
Thank you to them for telling the real story of the invasion and giving a shout out to my dear friend Victor with localinpty and El Chorrillo.
Shorty got an IG? SHE needed all the video time.. OH I came here cus IM from Panama and sadly I havent been back since Ive been an adult. I will soon and I like seeing people enjoying my country ..
I love the video. I also love Panama and will be moving there soon. I’m heading back in March for another visit and hopefully will be picking up my permanent visa ID card. Yes Spanish is really good. How did you learn?
Yes..I’m interested in learning Spanish. Was it something you learned prior to getting there or did you learn after you arrived there?
Best Restaurant in Panama. Noooo CAP! The oxtail is to die for!!! 😴
San Blas Islands are beautiful! Some of the islands have sand fleas on the beach, so beware. They bite like a son of a gun smh...
I'll keep that in mind when I go.. Thanks.
Gotta go to Tapa de Coco Calle 68 Este, Panamá, Panama
Ask for proprietor Issac Villaverde Afro Panameno ...we represent properly in PTY
What's good Sly. I'm loving your Panama series videos. Panama is truly a hidden gem. Let's hangout in the city. I'm a local, I can show you some nice spots. Just hit me up
What up Anthony, thanks for the support.. I'll be here for a little while longer so, I'll let you know
What about prices for the various dishes at El Caribe ?
I your video series. Hope to meet you when I’m back in Panama this spring. What is the name of the restaurant?
I met those guys on the roof of Selina last Sunday night with Victor!
My friend Adam! A matar la rana!!!!
Hey Sly. If you are still in PC, you should reach out to Victor who is referenced here in this video - he will take you on a cool tour of El Chorrillo. I just talked to Victor and told him to give you the VIP tour, it's on me!...I enjoy all your posts, keep em coming.
@@awilsonatl gracias hermano!! 🙏 hope Sly join this amazing experience!
I know it was a good night then
Oh man now you are really in Panama and now you know they speak Spanish and English. Yeah Chorrillos used to be the Fabelas of Panama, Colon City is still like the Fabelas but not on hills it is on flat ground
Hello! I’m looking to travel to Panama with my children this year. Do you think it’s safe for a woman to travel with her children? I’m reading different things
In panama you don't need no maze or bullet prove vest unlike the united states Brooklyn bronx queens Florida Chicago
Just don't go to those impoverish neighborhoods and you will be fine.
Thank you for getting the girls in there. Guy had a lot of info but we like visuals
Lmao Sly loves them shrimps 😄!! Sly where did you have the BEST shrimp dinner? Drum roll please! 🥁
You know I do lol.. It would have to be Ecuador... I think they're the largest producer or exporter of shrimp in the world as well.
I’ll be in Panama next month. Watching all your videos thank you!! What did they take for the San Blas tour?
I didn't catch the tour company, but if I go I'll let you know
Did you find a good one?
@@teestack7004 yep, we booked through Panama San Blas Tours. They were professional, on-time, and the trip was a blast! The islands were like a dream. Our driver spoke very little English so being conversational in Spanish is a plus. Also be ready for the grueling four hour drive through the rural countryside and jungle areas, plus the rough ride in this tiny boat to the island! I hear there is another way there by boat (kinda like a ferry) ride only, off the coast near Colon I believe. Worth researching if you don’t want to deal with the long, bumpy car/boat rides.
Hello! I really enjoy watching ur content. I’m planning on visiting Panama in May. What are ur thoughts on Airbnb vs Hotels? And what areas are best for a 2 week stay?
How was it? Family group going in June. Any recommendations?
I have the same question
I love watching your videos. I also love Panama and hopefully will have my permanent visa by April. Your Spanish is good. How did you learn?
Hey thanks.. Panama seems like a cool place to retire to. I learned basic Spanish in high school and the rest living in Colombia.
@@slyslife ahh that explains why you have a bit of a Colombian accent when you habla Español.
Visit🇵🇦💯
Where is the restaurants?
I like the orange outfit. Nice to see black peoples having a good time.
What’s the tour company ?
Sly I’m at hotel Montreal can we link up
How did you meet up with the people from New York?
I just happened to see them at the reataurant
Panama is basically Jamaica 2.0, lol.
Definitely, has a Carribean feel to it
No it's not.
Panamá is more than what you see in this video.
@@Leonardo-1 Only meaningful differences I've seen:
1. Panama is Spanish speaking rather than English speaking.
2. Panama is Catholic rather than Protestant.
3. Jamaica is an island, Panama an isthmus.
That's it. The countries are pretty much the same otherwise.
@@Nutty151 yea, attitude and all
El Caribe?
Yes ... El Caribe !
Hi Sly,
I will be in Panama for my Birthday Feb 9.....I've been following your videos to learn more about Panama. Thanks for the great work.
I have a question if you can answer. Do you know if the Riu is a good choice for lodging?
I've reveiwed so many properties and they all seem to have a few bad reviews. If you have any hotel recommendations I would greaty appreciate it. If not, I totally understand. I hope we run into you during our visit.
Linda
Hey Linda, thanks for watching the videos... You came during the right season.
What’s the name of that spot and town?
El Caribe restaurant in Panama City
@@slyslife sorry, I tried to delete the question after you answered it in the video, but for some reason I wasn’t able to even find it in the app. Great video. Looking forward to tasting the Caribbean food in Panamá above all others. There was a Jamaican man who briefly had a Caribbean restaurant in my hometown about 10-15 years ago, but unfortunately tacos are more some people’s speed here, apparently. Me encanta mucho los tacos, but sadly not enough people ate there to keep the business alive. The food and atmosphere was great.
@@eddieonthegotravel once it's on the internet, it's there forever 😂.. No worries though👍🏿
The owners name is Maritza
Via Argentina area
I didn’t catch the name of the restaurant
El Caribe restaurant
iuic on you tube
@2:30 -Man: But what's the significance? Tell them the significance of that tour… Woman, with her tatas hanging out "I don't know" 😅
Leave the taser at home, uh? LOL!!!
No taser required 👌🏿.. For now
Panama is expensive. There's tax on absolutely everything.
Not really, just stay out the tourist areas
My parents were both Panamanian. I was born in Brooklyn but lived in and went to school in Panama during my elementary years. Shout out to Colegio Paulino de San Jose (La Salle) in Colon. I really enjoy your channel and I am happy that the guest (tourist) in the video had a good time. I did have one request for any tourist but specifically for tourist coming from the USA - enjoy, learn and respect the country - its history, people and culture. But please leave your HYPER-focus on race and analyzing everything through the lens of race back at home, in the USA! Taking One (Chorillo) tour does not make you an expert in determining what social political factors cause: poverty or social displacement. Again, please enjoy the country but leave the Racial analysis behind. Panama does not need it!
What years were you attending Paulino de San Jose?
Wonder if I know you...
