    Hi, first one of your videos I've come across and it's great, I particularly love how you have the pickup configuration diagram always visible so as a viewer there's no ambiguity about which position you're playing in. Such a small thing but super helpful, I personally think all guitar demo videos should do this!

    These are amazing guitars. I think the ''Performer Series'' is the finest...and I've been purchasing guitars since 1970. I have an original 1970 CBS Fender Strat , still in excellent shape today, which is worth alot today but the Performer blows it away for miles! About 3 yrs ago I got the first Performer Strat , Alpine White, after getting one of the last American Special Strats in the shop. I eventually went back and purchased three more Performer Strats & Performer Tele . NO problems with any of them. They all stay in tune and attach a JHS Morning Glory & A Fulltone Clyde Wah pedal to this guitar and you get a vintage Blues Strat tone. The choices of tonal blends you get with Performers is utterly superb.

      Sounds great. I am seriously considering picking one of these up, but I have been hesitant because I worry about noise or hum from the pickups. I have a Fender Player Plus Stat with Fender noiseless pickups. Is there any problem with audible hum from the single coil pickups?

    I walked into a guitar store to buy strings. But they had an 2010 American special in a hardcase for sale. I had so many strats, squiers or fender player. But this one was another beast, 2 piece body and so so so much resonance. For me it was a no brainer with texas specials in them.

I have a Fender Player Plus Stat with Fender noiseless pickups, which I love but am thinking the Performer would be a cut above. Is there any problem with audible hum from the single coil pickups? BTW, have you tried the Start through an Ibanez TS Tube Screamer (gain at zero, level all the way up)? I have found that this fattens up the tone of a Strat immeasurably.

    Well I really enjoy my 2019 hss performer. I've played the one in the video many times and its just as good. I have no regrets. That being said, I feel like it's the same old cliché. Once you go American, you won't go back. I still enjoy my 2001 Made in Mexico stratocaster thats been upgraded with noiseless pickups. Today I went to guitar center and tried to compare the new player mim series to the new professional 2 series. There is no comparison. The new pro2 is awesome!

    • @urgidover

      In terms of sound what are the differences between the American performer strat and the American professional II? Which do you think is the best?

    • @JimmyWatfordGuitar
      @JimmyWatfordGuitar 3 года назад +2

      @@urgidover the pro 2 is awesome. There are light body shaping features on the pro2 that make it more comfortable. Personally I think the pickups sound better on the pro2 vs. the performers Yosemite pickups. The only option I had at the time I purchased my performer was the pro1. At that time, you couldn't split the humbucker on the pro, the body contours weren't that big of a deal and for the price the performer was right for me at the time. Now? If I can get a pro 2 and split the humbucker, which you can now, it only comes down to cost, sound of pickups, and body shape/weight. Now that the honeymoon stage is over with my performer. I will say there was a moment when I thought about trading it in for the pro2. However its so close, I'd rather split hairs on amps and pedals.

    • @JimmyWatfordGuitar
      @JimmyWatfordGuitar 3 года назад +2

      The pickups on the pro2 are more balanced sounding. They seems to have a natural compression type sound to me, which I love. The performers Yosemite pickups are thinner sounding, probably cut a little better.

    I have this guitar but it has huge frets. It's odd because I also have a Richie Kotzen Tele, and I believe both guitars use the 6100 fret wire but the strat almost feels like a scalloped neck at times, which I don't like. The Kotzen Tele, despite its huge C shape neck is so much "softer/buttery" to play.

    Hi Nico! I have bought exactly the same Strat as you have also based upon your review. Although I have been using it with a very basic cheap combo, it has sounded nice! But the time to purchase a better combo to it has arrived. What combo are you using in your vid? Or any suggestions? Tube/valve vs solid s? I should be very happy to hear any feedback, cause I live in a very small village (in Hungary) isolated from all other guitarists. But internet gets us connected! :) Rock on! :)

    • @NicoSoro
      @NicoSoro  4 года назад +1

      Hey Péter! Actually I've also been using cheap combos and/or amp simulations for a while as I've started moving places a lot, at the moment I'm playing on the Spark, that is a pretty cheap amp but I like it cause I can get plenty of different sounds super simply. Otherwise in terms of proper amps, from what I've tried I liked the Vox AC15, Marshall DSL's and I also tried a Orange tube head (I think it was TH30), haven't tried any of these with the new Strat though!
      Overall I definitely prefer tube amps, but I guess you need to live in a place where you don't have close neighbours 😅

Although they have gone up to $1399 from $1199 I still think it’s worth it for the great guitar you end up with.
      Also wanted to mention that I have a Roland blues cube hot for home use and it is perfect for that as the power can go down to .5 watts. Also has a headphone jack for playing without disturbing others. I use pedals for more tone shaping but honestly I could do just fine with the amp alone. I can’t say enough about these blues cubes from Roland. Great stuff.

    Beautiful guitar.. but pick ups are no good for old 70's rock blues.. :-(

      agreed, those pickups sound like crap. i always replace the stock pickups in my guitars, unless im buying top of the line. Throw a lil59 in the bridge and some antiquities in the middle and neck, now youre talkin!!!

    to me, those pickups sound like crap with gain on them. i would replace humbucker with a duncan 59 or a pearly gates. Antiquities in the middle and neck for me! then its KILLER!!!!

    Excellent description of the features. Well done. Thanks for that. But lose that lame background music. It's pretty distracting from what you're saying.
