Buddy Charleton, Leon and the rest of the boys playing young and hungry here. Jack Drake, Pete's Brother, Cal Smith, Jack Greene. Great music, and E.T. on top of his game.
On steel you can hear and see the great Buddy Emmons. The man who took the instrument to a whole new level - a true musical giant! Today I read that Mr Emmons passed away on the 30th of July. Thank you for all the recordings Buddy Emmons, and may you rest in peace.
+ollarik I believe the steel-playing Buddy under that big hat is Buddy Charleton. You'll see him more clearly and hear Ernest say his last name in some other videos here.
"Aww Buddy now..." three of my favorite words in all of country music.
My four favorite words In country music are "Written By Roger Miller"
hell yeah brother!!
amen brother!!
Did you see Buddy Charleton do those bar slants, and that chiming. Fantastic player.
Making a very decent job of reproducing those Emmons licks from the original 1958 recording.
Bud plays straight & clean - no showing out
Amazing to think that Buddy Charleton replaced Buddy Emmons in this band. Two great steel players, one right after the other!

Bud Charleton was always my favourite steel player.
Emmons was the greatest steel player but Buddy Charlton on here is superb.
I go for Ralph Mooney as #1 of all time.

That's Buddy Charleton on steel.
While Buddy Emmons did also play steel with Ernest Tubb for a time, as the others have said, this is indeed Buddy Charleton in this video.
Yes people, that's the one & only Buddy Charleton playing that steel.
Steel guitar is probably my favorite instrument and Buddy really brings it out in this song.
My dad's favorite singer

Nobody but him can do justice to Waltz Across Texas. Ah pick it buddy

Didn't Roger Miller write this song (in his younger days)?

how much does a hat like that cast? $500?
That’s not a regular 10 gallon hat, it goes all the way to 11 😊
Poor Ernest can't carry a tune with a bucket but damn his band is GREAT!
