Thanks for sharing, not just this but the the practice videos too. I've found those very helpful, and this is timely. I'm taking part in my first competition this Saturday, mainly just to enjoy the process (and hopefully not finish last - I started bowling less than four months ago). I'll remember to stay relaxed, not take too much time on the approach, and take notes. Thanks again.
This is all good stuff. I started taking notes after another video I saw of yours, and this has really helped my game. With all of that said, I am a HUGE believer in treating practice like competition. To me, the mindset has to be the same. I believe the vast majority of competitors in all sports will play how they practice. I also believe that this is one of the main traits of the "greats" in all sports. It is one of the things that separates them from the rest of the pack.
Good stuff from Anderson. Bowling a 10 gamer Saturday, I'll definitely keep this in mind. I definitely agree with the Do's, but the thing is I'm at my "best self" when I'm super emotional and when I scoreboard watch. Guess I'm different because when I scoreboard watch I say to myself "I can shoot that!" (if scores are high) or "Wow these scores suck; well I know how to shoot 200 if that's all I need I'm good!" (when scores are low). Instead of what others probably think. I'd say another do of competition bowling is to know where everything is. Know where the shop is, where the bathroom is, where you can get water/food, where your equipment is, etc. The more organized you are the more you can focus on the task at hand. It's why whenever I go to a tournament I usually arrive there before everyone else. Got to get that lay of the land.
Thanks last nite league turned on switched 29 out of 30 clean. One split 4-6 bad shot. Think first time in long time made every spare. Treat each shot like you said your best stayed in moment. Like your videos keep em coming. Oh by the way 671 series too. 267 game haven’t had a big one in while. Luv watching you pros too. Have a great year!!!
Started watching your videos and enjoy the insights. No one is born with a terrific bowling release. Can you do a video on how you developed your release, what you feel. What triggers your release? I never can feel the thumb coming out. Thank you.
I often score high in practice (let's say, between 220 and 280... of course, they're not all that high). Game time, too often I'm lucky to get to 150. It is my mental game. Once in a while I pull out a good game, but too many times I bowl beneath my potential. My strategy for tomorrow night's league play is to make sure I don't slow down my arm swing... speed and conviction.
Depends on the league, but normally I feel league is more social friendly. You're not making money that same night unlike competition, and some people are just there to have a good time. Usually music playing and open play happening. At tournaments, everyone is dialed in and focused.
Yeah, the younger ones just watched you say one of the nastiest words you could say and you just acted like it was OK. It’s not OK and you should not have made it part of this video because of the younger people watching. It was not funny. it was not cool. I won’t watch you again.
Nice video! Very helpful to keep a level mindset.😊
Fun and informative!
Great stuff 👍

Great advice! Cashed at tournament last week by keeping my head and not getting emotional, score watching etc and definitely take it seriously

"Clearly - don't miss the spare" -- 🤣🤣🤣
Don't miss the spare!😂😂 Language!
Does league count as competition?

Yes, of course, it is competition! 😁
Could have used this before Junior Gold👍

I always "miss the spare"😬
Me, too! Sometimes. 😁
People that take forever on the approach... 😡
I hate that too, but how long should you take at the approach before taking your first step?
I'm guilty I take my time 😅
That’s me sorry 😅
You can’t fault someone to take there time tho
