Short biography: Nemophila is kinda "supergroup" . Singer Mayu comes from the band LIPSTICK and decided to form a jam band for playing live. She recruited her schoolmate Haraguchi-san ("Miss Haraguchi") on bass, and then they asked famous session player Tamu Murata to join them on drums. For guitar, they had the idea to ask the already star-status Saki (Destrose, Mary's Blood) and she agreed, but propose to get a second guitar player - Hazuki (ex-Disqualia). After the first concert, it was obvious for the five of them that they had to form a real band, Nemophila was born. During rehearsal, they recorded an Iron Maiden cover, and it was very succesfull on YT, and then their first single "Oiran". Unfortunately, it was just before the covid, so they were not able to play live for a long time, so they recorded tons of covers and their first album "REVIVE" (only originals). They are touring relentlessly since the covid's over and have two more albums.
As for Saki, Saki and Mayu have stated that it was a "mutual friend" who brought them together. They don't mention the name, but it was Ryo Fujio, who at the time worked among other things as a producer of the Naon no Yaon annual female rockers' fest. He was of course acquainted with Tamu too, as she and Saki both played NnY. He took an interest in Mayu after she left the band Lipstick and helped MayuSession/Nemophila in various ways in their early stages.

"What the hell just happened?" Nemophila happened. And they just keep happening: they never stop. Check out the MV for 'Rise' and the most recent live videos for 'Oiran' and 'Zen'. With 'Oiran' the most recent live is the definitive version IMO. Tamu Murata is an amazing drummer who also plays a shitload of other instruments. SAKI and Hazuki are the perfect 7-string guitar duo. As for Mayu, her voice is amazing. She does killer metal screams and growls, raspy rock, beautifully clean ballad vocals and cute af pop vocals. Tiny woman, huge power. Bass player, Hara-chan was always a good, reliable pair of hands but she is developing into a really great bassist - and her tone is always perfect. These Japanese bands are why I really don't bother with western metal anymore. This is where the fun is.

I actually love Murata Tamu more as a pianist than as a drummer; only because Akane-san of Band-Maid is my favorite drummer. lol NEMOPHILA has two lead guitarists. Hazuki-san plays an Ibanez 7-string while Saki-san plays a Killer (brand) 7-string guitar.

Before 2020, there was only one all-female band that I listened to regularly, and that was the Brazilian metal band Nervosa. Then I discovered Band-Maid who immediately impressed me. Now I have a top five all-female Japanese bands - Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Gacharic Spin and Hanabie (East of Eden might eventually make it a top six). There are also The Warning from Mexico and Crypta from Brazil (the vocalist/bassist and the drummer of Nervosa left and formed Crypta). So far I have seen Band-Maid, Nemophila and Crypta live and will be seeing Lovebites live in September. The great thing about these seven very talented bands is that they all have a different sound. You need to put Gacharic Spin on your list with their music video for the song MindSet. In my opinion, that song is one of the best released in 2021, and I don't mean just in Japan. Murata Tamu, the drummer, was a jazz fusion prodigy. She was a famous session drummer for years. She can play anything and has played on tons of famous bands records. Super nice woman too.

It’s a five petal blue and white flower that grows in masses at the Hitachi seaside park in Japan. Each petal represents each member. You’ve tried their first music video. Oiran was their first single and they have a cool live version of that on their channel. Dissension was their second music video which is killer like all their songs.
Awesome band. Seen them live twice in California. Saki & Hazuki are incredible guitarists. Tamu is a highly skilled drummer, Haraguchi-San is awesome on bass...and Mayu's vocals just come on. Wait till you see a live video. Super engaging and charismatic. 2nd fav band just behind Lovebites. The overall Japanese metal/rock scene is probably the best in the world at this point.

The drummer goes so hard in this song but is largely ignored by the videographer for some reason. There's a recent live video of this song where you can get a better look at what she's doing. She's a phenom.

There's a lot of variety with Nemophila. If by chance the's a track by them that you are less keen on then just go to another. My personal favourites by them are Hypnosis and Life. Other people with have different favourites.
Welcome to the kick ass world of Nemophila. RAITEI is a kick ass song but its just the tip of the tip of the iceberg!! Formed in 2019 they just released their 3rd album last month. Tamu the drummer is one of the best drummers out of Japan. Haraguchi-san is a damn good bass player and a fireball and writes some very cool songs. On to the twin guitar attack with Saki which was on your right of the screen with the darker hair. Saki is a metal goddess and one of the best out of Japan. Hazuki on your left of the screen is a technical wizard on the guitar and amazing herself. Both are shredders and could easily be the main guitarist for many bands but here they are together playing off each other beautifully. They have many other songs where they dual and harmonizing solos. Now on to what I describe sometimes as the icing on the cake and brings it all together perfectly and that is Mayu the vocalist. She has a great clean voice which has that bit of rasp and truly is unique. But something you have not heard yet and is what makes her even more great is her growls and screams. Banshee screams as it is described at times. She has the perfect voice for rock and metal and she can hit that little sweet sounding voice too which makes her range so much more at blending different genres of metal and just genres of music in general. This all makes Nemophila not only one of the top 5 bands in Japan but one of the most diverse. Try their song Adabana an amazing song. You will get to hear Mayu blend those growls and cleans. Tamu the drummer is out of this world on that song with amazing fills and a great drum section in the breakdown. Also try one of their lives like Oiran Live. Their first song they recorded and is usually the show closer. Pick the newest live release of it. If you enjoyed this song you are going to love them even more listening to their others.
One of the greatest songs ever recorded (in my opinion only). And to think they just released the official live clip of this and it's as good if not, better. And this comes from a Band Maid fanatic.

Oh boy you have done it now, Band Maid is by far my favorite rock band but Nemophila is a different beast. Nemophila is at it’s heart a metal band and they go way harder then Raitei at times. They are though diverse and can go softer as well. They have immense stage presence, check out Zen or Oiran live to see it and how much power Mayu has on vocals.
Who would not like not like this Drummer? Tamu Murata IS the greatest drum queen (IMO) you can listen to. She is not at metal drummer per say, but a drummer from every genre from jazz to metal. Everyone in this group is beyond the typical musician. You have only scratch the surface. ❤️🌸
Now when u done bandmaid, nemophila and lovebites, its just hanabie left. Would suggest we love sweets, u can really hear their roots from being a maximum the hormone cover band in highschool

Welcome to the kick ass world of Nemophila. RAITEI is a kick ass song but its just the tip of the tip of the iceberg!! Formed in 2019 they just released their 3rd album last month. Tamu the drummer is one of the best drummers out of Japan. Haraguchi-san is a damn good bass player and a fireball and writes some very cool songs. On to the twin guitar attack with Saki which was on your right of the screen with the darker hair. Saki is a metal goddess and one of the best out of Japan. Hazuki on your left of the screen is a technical wizard on the guitar and amazing herself. Both are shredders and could easily be the main guitarist for many bands but here they are together playing off each other beautifully. They have many other songs where they dual and harmonizing solos. Now on to what I describe sometimes as the icing on the cake and brings it all together perfectly and that is Mayu the vocalist. She has a great clean voice which has that bit of rasp and truly is unique. But something you have not heard yet and is what makes her even more great is her growls and screams. Banshee screams as it is described at times. She has the perfect voice for rock and metal and she can hit that little sweet sounding voice too which makes her range so much more at blending different genres of metal and just genres of music in general. This all makes Nemophila not only one of the top 5 bands in Japan but one of the most diverse. Try their song Adabana an amazing song. You will get to hear Mayu blend those growls and cleans. Tamu the drummer is out of this world on that song with amazing fills and a great drum section in the breakdown. Also try one of their lives like Oiran Live. Their first song they recorded and is usually the show closer. Pick the newest live release of it. If you enjoyed this song you are going to love them even more listening to their others.

This song is absolutely FIRE 🔥🔥🔥 I love Nemophila!!! They all are so talented!!! And Tamu (drummer) is one of the best female drummers in Japan!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Oh boy you have done it now, Band Maid is by far my favorite rock band but Nemophila is a different beast. Nemophila is at it’s heart a metal band and they go way harder then Raitei at times. They are though diverse and can go softer as well. They have immense stage presence, check out Zen or Oiran live to see it and how much power Mayu has on vocals.

Who would not like not like this Drummer? Tamu Murata IS the greatest drum queen (IMO) you can listen to. She is not at metal drummer per say, but a drummer from every genre from jazz to metal. Everyone in this group is beyond the typical musician. You have only scratch the surface. ❤️🌸
He should definitely go from "Raitei" to "Zen" right? Maybe not quite as jarring a transition as if he started with "Life" but good enough!
Now when u done bandmaid, nemophila and lovebites, its just hanabie left. Would suggest we love sweets, u can really hear their roots from being a maximum the hormone cover band in highschool
New bands for your personal catalog: Lovebites (we the united) - Gacharic Spin (I wish I) - East of Eden (This moment) but their catalog is huge and consistent (Up to noe East of Eden has just 5 gems).
