Hi Mrs Kela! I appreciate your videos. I’ve binged them all since being laid off from insurance sales/service at the end of November and start a new position as an Adjuster with a company I think you worked at earlier in your career in a few weeks! (I only know bc of how you described the name of the company 😂) I hope to have a similar career path as you, and thank you for your transparency and great tips. I feel like although I hear and see a lot of complaints about working in claims, like anything in insurance it’s all about how we deal with it as employees and staying on top of our ish so no one else has to! Again your presence in this space is so appreciated and more valuable than you know!
Hey hey thank you so much for watching I’m happy you’re enjoying the content, that means a lot to me ❤️. Congrats on your new job I’m sorry you got laid off but you bounced back and that’s a blessing. Uh oh lol well I hope that whatever company it is works out for you and you have all the success 🥳. Claims is definitely a beast but if you have good routines you will be able to make it through for sure
@18:00 yep some of these men in these male dominated industries are a hoot…but you just have to continue to stand firm and let them know, it doesn’t work like that with you😒
Thank you so much for watching!! I got started in auto, just applied for a company that was hiring a lot of entry level adjusters (in 2015) and I ended up getting hired a a total loss adjuster. Did that for a couple years and transitioned into the homeowners insurance department.
@@KennyJ200 Thank you! ❤️ So most companies are going to offer you in house training. I’m in California so I didn’t need to be licensed when I first started, but my last company required licensing so that’s the only course I’ve taken so far. I do plan to get some additional certifications though just to increase my salary down the line but it’s not required to get started.
Hey Kela!!! I love your videos and they are so informative and detailed. I am interested in getting into WC field and wanted to know what is your position. Is it a field adjuster, a desk adjuster, or both? Thank you again for the context. Keep them coming!!
Hey thank you so much for watching and I’m glad you enjoy the content. I’m a field adjuster, but when I don’t have inspections I work from home. A true desk adjuster doesn’t go out to inspect, they just review information given by vendors to help them determine coverage and pay claims. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hey Ms.Kela I’ve been following you for a year now and wanted to know if you have you ever been deployed on CAT duty ? I just accepted a transfer to the CAT team but i never been an outside representative, just a remote desk adjuster. What tips do you have for deployment and transition from just desk adjusting property claims?
Hi thank you so much for subscribing! I’ve never done CAT duty. The transition from desk to field work can be tricky because you’re having to get the same amount of work done AND inspect claims/write estimates. I’d recommend having a system so you can get both done. For example in my role I inspect about 2-3 times a week and the other days are desk days so I can catch up on other work. I believe with CAT Duty you’re inspecting multiple homes in a day, so you’d have to plan time later in the day to write your estimates. Routines will be your friend.
Hello, Im so happy to come across your channel. I just recently got hired with a bigger company for Claims Specialist in Auto. I see that you are a claims adjuster can you help me understand the difference between a specialist and an adjuster if you don't mind.
Hi thank you so much for watching, I’m happy to have you ❤️. Congrats on your new role that’s exciting. Typically a claims specialist and adjuster do the same thing but some companies call them different names. If you’re making decisions on claims, issuing payments, interpreting the policy, setting reserves (these terms will make more sense when you get started) then you’re adjusting claims 😊
I don’t think any of them are easy, but total loss was relatively cut and dry when I did it, just have to manage the workload because it can get super busy.
Hey thanks for making your day in the life videos. I am in auto claims with a small company. What company did you do total loss for? And would you recommend that company. I am looking for good companies where I can grow. Not sure I want to stay in auto.
I appreciate you and thank you for watching! I don’t say the names of the companies I work/worked for so I can talk freely and not get in trouble, but my best experiences have been working for the larger insurance companies, more opportunity and usually better pay. I started in auto and transitioned to property. Property is pretty intense to be honest, but i've made really good money and i've learned a lot! It's something to consider ❤️
I can definitely see that there would probably be more opportunities in a large company because where I am now you have to basically hope someone leaves or gets fired 😂 Thanks for your response ❤

You’re so right it comes with the territory but at the end of the day we’re more than qualified and capable, I check them every time!! 👏🏼
I am intrigued. How did you get started?

Wow, that’s amazing. Did you take any courses or did they train you on the job? ❤ Thanks so much for the response

Is it possible to be an adjuster 100% remotely? or is it a hybird position overall
Yep there are positions that are completely remote.
your so diligent
I try to be!

Thank you so much for responding. I hope I'm as successful and diligent as you are in my new role.
What is the easiest role/ position for an adjuster?
I don’t think any of them are easy, but total loss was relatively cut and dry when I did it, just have to manage the workload because it can get super busy.
