I now edit constantly with the transcript panel up, with source/monitor. It’s a narrative time based way to navigate the material. Amazing. Even if the transcript is not 100% accurate.
Thanks for putting this together - really helpful! Nice to finally see the new Titler+ - see how it shakes out over time but progress. Hoping we can select the font box and press down / up arrow to cycle through the fonts instead of clicking one at a time or looking at the drop down list. Assigning a background colour to a name in the transcript would be helpful, I think, as that'll be easier to distinguish when scanning down a transcript. But looks to be some good improvements there, too. Cheers!
Oh man I needed that waveform improvement on my last project I just finished up. What a nightmare, can’t wait to open it up in the new version and lament about how much easier I would have had it.
@The Avid Assistant If it's still in 24.10, you can use the Fade Title button instead of manually adding keys. It will do it for you and you can specify the duration of the fade..
True, you can even use quick transition. But I'd prefer keyframes if I want to manually fade in or out parts of the title ( like the backdrop shape for example) which is something you couldn't do in titler+ before and now can. So it was just about showing that we now have the option :)
Is there a possibility that the List Tool could preserve case sensitivity in the exported data, rather than converting all characters to uppercase? With the new Alexa 35 adding lowercase "_h" and "_a" to source file names, and Avid's EDL creation being hardcoded to uppercase, this can pose challenges for VFX tools and NLE editors that are sensitive to case differences to Tape/Reel name.
great video. thanks for that. but lemme ask y'all... i've been an avid editor for decades so this maybe a stupid question... in recent years i've been letting avid link handle version upgrades. but i've also read where people are still uninstalling old versions before installing new ones. what is the current wisdom for installing a new version? and what about user settings within major annual versions vs. 'dot releases'? (iMac Pro, Sonoma 14.7.1)
Think I already replied to you on Facebook but will say it here too. I always uninstall the previous version with the uninstalled, install the new version and then create a new user profile. Every release. Whole process is only about 10minutes. Doing that is the primary reason I think that my avid almost NEVER crashes. But who knows maybe I'm just a creature of habit :)
Interesting. Is the language hint set to Portuguese or "multilingual"? I've found weird issues with the default setting and I always have to force mine to English.
@ its set to portuguese. It’s the typical hallucination. It will translate a bit of dialogue in english and sometimes it will fully change to english and starting translating Portuguese into english as well. It’s funny.
Is that what they call an Update? I was expecting something more radical and not that crude Update of the Avid Titler. It is a shame for us who used the old Avid. And also a fiasco with the free version of Avid. Avid Titler is a SHAME, GENTLEMEN OF AVID.

Most excellent, thanks for all you do!
Thanks Jack - Extremely helpful as always! I can't wait to install 24.10 and get a feel for these improvements myself!
The spot to timecode dropped my mouth. This will save so many AEs so much time.

Background colour for speakers is a great ID!

Danke!
Good stuff.

@ yeah, that’s me asking the same question in both places. Thanks again.
The funny thing about transcripts through AI models is that even tho it’s marked in portuguese, it will translate the bits in english from the audio.

46:35 since when is Avid able to boost a Audiotrack more than 12dB????
That was added in 2023.8 last year. You can boost up to 36dB :)
@ nice not only 12db and another 12db with keyframes
Yay!!
What happens with your old Titler + titles in a sequence when you use the new Titler +?
I'm still running tests on this. We are supposed to be able to promote them to the new titler but I'm having some trouble doing so.

avid is behind in features compared to Resolve and Premiere Pro.
@@d.edwardsfreelanceeditorvi4212 You are absolutely right, avid is a disgrace.
