    Hello, I think Rebor did a wonderful job with these stegosaurus figures.
    Both in sculpture and paint application. I ordered all three, " my addiction is becoming quite obvious", as
    well as my shrinking bank accounts. But they are so pleasing to the eye and do
    give me a nice warm and fuzzy feeling.

      This is something that I wish Rebor got more credit for. They have taken a lot of flak for many things, but this Stegosaurus is really something good they've produced, and I'm usually not a fan! But objectivity considered, this is a must have for me. In fact it's still my favourite mass produced Stegosaurus. When you look at those plates, these are something that I have only seen on the immense Sideshow Stegosaurus. To have them here is a huge WOW for me!

    I love this figure

    All recent REBOR figures have pop culture references in their names. Most often they are bands. This one when combined with their Ceratosaurus “Savage” creates “Savage Garden”. Just like their upcoming Deinosuchus and Sarchosuchus “Meta” and “Lica” create Metallica. Also their Dilophosaurus “Greenday” and “Oasis”.

      Wow KG thanks for that! I did not know and didn't see the correlation. Ignorant as I am I have heard of Savage Garden... I wonder how awesome Deinosuchus and Sarcosuchus are going to be, especially after the disappointment that was the Wild Safari Sarcosuchus! I hope they will be in scale.

    Thanks, for review! I was about buy or not buy it and after the video I went to Everything Dinosaur and ordered Plain and Woodland.

      Excellent! I was not a fan of Rebor but this one gives me hopes! Everything Dinosaur is great, and it might be cheaper since Rebor is a UK company. I hope you enjoy your models... I'm still so tempted on getting the Mountain!

    This being an older video I was wondering: are your feelings about this model still the same as back in 2020? I am tempted to buy it as the paint and sculpt still look excellent, but I take great comfort in your expert opinion as well!

      Haha thank you you do me too much honour! I would say that if you believe that Sophie would have scaled up isometrically as it grew into a full adult, then this is quite outdated in form. If you think Sophie might have had some room to grow allomterically, then you could perhaps close one eye on this.
      That said, if accuracy is important to you, this one might not be the droid you're looking for. In terms of the pre-Sophie era, this one is the nicest one that I have and I'm happy to own it just on aesthetics, in terms of sculpt and colour, and a blend between vintage and modern. If you are trying to save space and/ or funds, then you could wait for another company to offer something new.

      @@DinosDragons thank you so very much for your elaborate response, I will be here going back and forth a little more on Garden. Your points touch exactly what I was trying to consider but couldn't fully articulate - it helps a lot!

    This quickly became a must have. The sculpt and detail are excellent.
    I went with the plain version because I prefer a more subdued color palette for anything approaching elephant or even rhino size.
    However, since the neck and tail elements are “poseable”, I will be ordering the Garden version to create a male and female diorama scenario.
    Although some Rebor offerings have some major issues, they knocked it out of the park with this one and it’s the best Stegosaurus figure to date, in my less than humble opinion.

      Exactly! I sometimes feel that there was a lot of bad feeling regarding the Yutyrannus debacle, and since then Rebor has been judged more harshly than it otherwise would be. Attitude aside, this one surprised me. I was never too fond of Rebor, and yet this one, especially the plates, really got me. In fact I liked it to much that had I more money, I would have bought another variation as well.
      If you can overlook that this isn't Sophie, then I think it is the best in its price range, neck to neck with the PNSO and even pulling ahead in some areas, for example the plates and colour.
      However, what do you mean by neck and tail elements being poseable? I just checked and if you were to attempt it, I think it might break.

      There appears to be a wire embedded in both the tail and neck allowing for varying the body posture.
      Mine is currently looking to it’s left while the tail has swung far right.
      I believe you mentioned the possibility of paint cracking/flaking but, so far, that hasn’t happened.

    I love it...how does it look next to Essien the Spinosaurus? Unnatural combo but I want to get this Stego.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 года назад +1

      They look good, in the sense that sculpting and paintjob-wise, you don't feel strange putting them side by side as there is no great gulf in quality between the two. Scale-wise they're a little different. This Rebor Stego is about 1:33-1:35, the PNSO Essien is 1:50th scale.

    It really is a fantastic model. I've got the Mountain variant as I have a bias towards non green and red Stegos, but I must admit the Woodland version does look really nice - a shame for the Plain version, it almost comes off as the runt of the litter!

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 года назад

      Let me say this, I've never been super fond of Rebor, but this Stegosaurus is such a stunner, not only did I immediately pick this up, I even thought of getting the Mountain variant as well. I am absolutely in love with the way those plates are painted!
      But yes, I'm wondering about the Plain version, it seems to have drawn the short straw... a _very_ short straw.

    "Up to date", this is about as up to date before 2017, when we found Sophie, showing VERY DIFFERENT proportions.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  4 года назад +2

      I was going to say a bit about Sophie however that would make this video too long. Using Sophie as the new type model and simply scaling up to adult proportions, then announcing that is how Stegosaurus should look is premature. It doesn't acount for neotenic differences. I am not convinced about filling in Stegosaurus unknowns using Hesperosaurus though I admit phylogenetic bracketing is useful. Until we know more, I suspect the truth is halfway in between the ancient roofed reconstructions and the lower-slung Sophie. That said, the Rebor is the most up-to-date Stego I own, such is the sad state of my collection of Stegosaurians. I do also have the newest Wild Safari, which I have christened Sophie as you'll see in the comparison photos at the end of the vid.

      The only problem i had with the rebor stegosaurus is the size of the head and the plates

    Is accurate? And cientific? Win safari vs rebor???

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 года назад

      If you are a believer in the Maidment restoration of Sophie, then no this is no longer considered accurate. The Safari one would be closer to the Maidment paper, although there are some who are still not convinced it's the final word on Stegosaurus form.
