Excellent review. Detailed and thorough. The H95 needed that time and detail as they are quite an investment. Are they worth it? I think at this level, the question cannot be answered with either YES or NO. The answer has to be - Who is asking. If someone was wanting a unique pair of headphones to commemorate the 95th year of B&O, then the answer has to be YES. If someone is looking for a premium noise-cancelling headphone, then there is a problem because there are several headphones which can be bought for half the price. In fact, you could buy the Sony MK4 and then buy, and a pair of Sennheiser HD660s as well or even a pair of HD560s and have some change. This would mean you have almost unassailable quality in sound when you are at home and the very best ANC performance when you are out and about. Even if you bought the H95 - when you are out and about you simply will not get the best sound quality because they do not and cannot remove all distracting sounds. When you are at home, the HD560s will be slightly better because they don't have all that electronics affecting the performance of the driver. The HD560s or HD660s would give you just that awesome experience in a quiet place. You might even have enough for a reasonable Amp/Dac combo for the home base headphones included in the budget. For someone who wanted that the H95 just would not meet the bar. Good but not that good. I will be interested in coming back in a year and seeing how many people love their H95. I have a pair of B&O H6, and I really love the. They are old and gnarly, but they sound great, and I love using them. I see lots of people who love the Sennheiser Momentum headphones - they love the version 1 - they love the version 2 (as did I), and they love their version 3 (as do I). They have a leather headband and earcups like the H95. Solid build quality and might even sound ever so slightly better. Their ANC is not as good, but you have the Bose and Sony for that. The ANC on the momentum is good and enough to provide some relief from the experience-affecting low bass hum, but they will not give you silence in all situations. The sound quality though is simply, from my admittedly limited experience, unparalleled in Bluetooth headphones. - They cost less than half the price of the H95 and they are over a year old. (BTW someone could come and make the same case for the master and dynamic MW65). It will be interesting to see how the H95 age. Thanks again for your excellent video review and considered thoughts and comments. You always bring it, and I have enjoyed seeing your videos get better and better. Love the way you are making it happen. More grease to your elbow. #PAWAFUL
I like ur post because u do make some fair points I've tried a lot of this range and now have H9 3td gen, not H9i. Your point about the 95th issue is good but that's some hell expensive anniversary for a mere corporate entity for a customer to "buy' into for me. I use mine only in doors so for me the H95 lovely as they are are an utter and pointless waste of money. B&O also charges a premium for its NAME, ALWAYS DID, and altho the build is good its unwarranted IMO. Their beautifully styled Hi fi sound centres were ghastly compared to separates and the sound altho better than many others was really nothing special.
After wanting them for a while, I finally got my H95 last week. I had the newest Bose model but felt like something in the sound was missing. These outperform the Bose in every way. I can't imagine any better sounding headphones. Are they worth it? If you have the money, certainly. However I think a 2x premium is a stretch, they aren't twice as good as Bose or Sony. I wouldn't buy these if cost is a factor. My only issue is that the app doesn't always sync with the headphones. At this price point I expect perfection.
Now that the Apple Air Max are out at $550, it would be interesting to see how those stack against these $900 (on their website) B&O's. I have the Beoplay H4 and love them.
Some of the finest headphones ever built truly groundbreaking. MNML designed some incredible headphones for B&O with the Danish design flair still coming from combined with the Chicago forward thinking mindset. The aluminium is impeccable.
I love learning about the design of a product so I was especially intrigued by the metal elements, the patent leather and the foldable build of these headphones. I like that the noise cancellation, sound quality and battery life are great too! Lovely headphones but out of my budget for now 😅 Great quality review as always. Your b-rolls are excellent!
The B&W I'm sorry to say are nowhere compared to these or the cheaper H9 3rs gen. I wanted to like them cos they are British and make lovely hi fi speakers ☺️🔊🎧
Great review - very informative, spot on! Very good performers but slightly overpriced by the sound of things. I'd been holding out for wireless anc headphones that knock it out of the park on all fronts, but sounds like this still doesn't exist. However, how far do we need to push sq and anc, and maybe a little extravagance will bring a small pick me up during this challenging lock down, and also help support a retailer ...
Nice review I’ve had these for over a month now,and find the comfort level definitely gets better over time, have seen a few reviews noting the loose dials from what I can see they all seem to happen with the grey model,I’ve got the black no noticeable looseness at all.As far as I can tell the sound quality is definitely getting better and louder so allow for burn in.Overall I’m pretty pleased with the H95 as I’ve got the,h9 3rd gen,xm4,px7,sennhieser m3 and find I’m definitely digging these the most.
Loved the comments. How would you describe the difference with the Sennheiser M3? I am in love with how the M3 handles bass. Never overpowering but always controlled. It is a really warm sound, and I love that enveloping feeling of the music, not just being between my eyes but all around me. It is visceral. I think that is why so many love them, and I am one of them. Do you get a similar experience, and if so, how does the H895 compare to that. Doe sit do something different, or is it the more prominent detail (B&O are known to be revealing in detail and balance). Your thoughts would be very valuable. Thanks.
@@iu1191 G’day ,the M3 are definitely comparable with H95,the base set up on mine resonates physically but it’s not sloppy at all, love them just lacking in battery life,I normally listen at close to full volume,so constantly recharging.I’ve used the H95’s pretty well every day since I got them and I still reckon the sound and volume is only getting better “for sure “

the most rounded package would go to the xm4s but if you want that extra premium build quality and overall sound clarity get the beoplay H95, although they are not the most comfortable but that will also depend on the size of your head : )
I would say it depends what you like. If tweak the H95s they can sound like the Sony’s. Personally, the weight for me is not a big of an issue as I thought it might be.
Hello I've a question i just got these and from my experience I can not use the transperancy mode for some reason when it's max i can hear a differance in voice but it's no where near a level that I can have a conversation on and with the slightest music on it's impossible - i do not know if my headset is defect or there are somewhat of tape on the microphones please help
Hey there. You may need to have your pair replaced. As the first pair I tested had something similar but the black & grey replacement pair I have been lucky enough to play with, do not have a dial that wobbles.
@@Ezekielo I think this happens because it’s on the inside of the headphone, unlike Microsoft’s outside edge of the cup. Temperature changes, through heats can see an expansion of up to 2/3mm, so allows room without introducing resistance. Or it’s a design flaw lol
Just did the comparison by buying both.... Turns out the H95 sound stage is smaller than the Max, and whilst the low to mid bass in the H95 is a little more accented, the Max deliver an overall cleaner and better sound by having the wider sound stage. Sadly the H95 build quality now lags Apple despite the use of aluminium in the H95 cups - simple things like the cut-outs for the various ports aren't as clean and the band is uncomfortable by comparison once you've tried the Max's 'mesh canopy' design. Even just the size of the ear cups is now diminutive and decidedly less premium in feel when put next to the larger Max. There is also more room inside the Max's ear cups than the H95s. The noise cancellation isn't anywhere near as effective on the H95, and the controls are fiddly and difficult to use compared to the simple button and crown dial on the Max. Transparency mode is also better on the Max than the ambient mode on the H95. The H95 dial controls also offer no feedback (aside from three audio cues on the ANC dial), unlike the 'clicking' of the Max's crown. Yes the Max's case is atrocious but possibly far more practical for weight and bulk than the H95's (very nice but oh so heavy) bulky metal case. So after all that, will be returning the H95's and keeping the Apple cans. Who'd have thought, but the Max are the better value - by costing less and offering far more than the H95 do.

The muffled sound at high volume is called "saturation". Lack of saturation is a sign of high audio tech.
