  • The concrete contractor have arrived and backed the pole barn. The build site is level and almost ready to pour the concrete floor. But first I need to get our drain lines and water line ran underground. It is time to grab a shovel and to start trenching in our plumbing.

    If government clearing out ditches for road work in the area, you could offer them a dump site for their excavated dirt from the ditches. Saves them where to find dump site and their time hauling back and forth

    You should put a drain in the processing room so you can wash the floor down with a hose. Also, a hose facet there and the kennel.

      i also suggested a drain in the kennel area and underground elect coming in from a post at the fence line or so

    Probably to late to be considered, floor drains, extra hose spicket for clean up. After processing meat hose and pressure washing make cleanup much easier.

    Don’t forget to cover the ends of your conduit pipe, so no critters fall in and especially to keep the concrete out when it is getting poured. Excellent video

  • @TheUserid82
    @TheUserid82 3 года назад +1

    A conduit for a data line separate from the power as you don't want data to run near power as it induces a current in the low voltage wire making a lot of noise or even enough to damage equipment. At the least you will want an access point in the barn/workshop so you can look things up and be able to watch/listen videos when working and if you setup for live streams from the workshop you want a good wired connection to the computer you are using.
    If you are setting up an area for the dogs you will need water all the time so only having access to it from the bathroom isn't a good plan when you can setup a yard hydrant to have water access without needing to fear freezing.

  • @steelcitysewerman
    @steelcitysewerman 24 дня назад

    You want that water closet riser to be plumb coming out of the floor. Also you need at least a 3" vent on a plumbing system that exits thru the roof.

  • @arosenberger87
    @arosenberger87 3 года назад +7

    This is a fairly easy job and it saves money. Please consider adding a clean out in the bathroom for easier access to the system. Additional buildings on properties are often hard to clear clogs because they are furthest from the tank (long pipes). With that said, adding a clean out on the outside can also help in the future. Most clogs happen in outbuildings because the pipes are not in use and don't have enough water to carry waste to the septic tank. Clean outs are cheap compared to the time and money to pull a toilet just to clean the pipe.

  • @CentralNH

    Clean out and stink pipe to vent line. With cleaning meat you need a clean out for clogs

  • @richardgreen5602
    @richardgreen5602 3 года назад +8

    Suggestion: Put duck tape over the top of each pipe opening so the contractor and other will not drop anything in the pipes.

    The new barn is looking good. Might I suggest running a pull rope through the waterline conduit. I think that sharp 90 degree elbow could be hard to push a line through. What about floor drains, one in the meat processing area and one in the shop to drain water if equipment is wet or washed in there.

  • @tucker476
    @tucker476 3 года назад +1

    Should run a tracer wire on top the pipes so you can tell where there as you run them further out. All you will find them with a common metal finder. When I was with a electrical company we did this. Saved a lot of heart ache !!

  • @PlanetMojo
    @PlanetMojo 3 года назад +4

    You are going to need a retaining wall or a hell of a lot more fill. Our neighbor's machine shed was built with just one corner about a foot low and there is still problems with settling a dozen years later. When you are running the actual water line, add yard hydrants along the way. I put three of them in last year and they are invaluable for watering livestock and numerous other things.

  • @DanKlein_1
    @DanKlein_1 3 года назад +11

    Looking good. As you run the water line to the building I would add and outside frost free hydrant. we ended up planting a garden nearby ours and use it for watering the garden or I pull equipment or trailers there to wash down. very handy extra to have. keeps the dirt and water out of the garage.

    In the red clay dirt of Georgia, it is advisable to put loose hay or straw against the exterior walls to keep the rain from splattering red mud on the walls and staining them. It also reduces the clean up. You might not need to do this where you are. Looking good so far.

    I'm with Mike Honcho. You really might want a floor drain in the meat processing room as well as the walk in refrigeration unit so you can just hose everything down after you work or when you need to do a routine cleaning. It gets really messy when you do the entire processing work as I'm sure you know. That's really neat what you all are doing there!

    You both did a pretty good job with the plumbing.. The only thing I would suggest is that you put a temporary cape on all the pipes which stick out of the ground to prevent either a complete or partial blockage if anything gets dropped into the pipes... I have learned this through bitter experience in the passed. Because if you do get anything dropped down there you will have a realy horrible job to clean it out. Hope you don;t mind me saying this as it could save you a lot of unnecessary work later,.
