I felt like Marss made several greedy plays that cost him the set. He missed like 3 or 4 grabs and as ZSS thats counted as overcommitting every time you miss. He also missed the off stage down air which resulted in an SD. Other than that Marss played very well and definitely couldve beat Sparg0. Sparg0 is just too good a majority of the time. Props to both of them. Hope to see how they both place in top 8 later today
The grabs probably came after fair getting beat out by cloud sword and just wanted to get a good hit to start a string or combo. Zair is almost out of the question as you have to be in the air, and if the opponent didn’t already react to the jump, then you can zair. Idk just seems really hard for ZSS. But I did hear Joker is a bad matchup for one of Spargo’s characters, don’t remember Which one tho.
I'll be honest, I didn't give Marss much credit after he shifted into being a "humble content creator", because I thought playing Elite Smash and different characters all the time would put his proficiency in jeopardy, but he actually took a game from #2 in the world, with an SD, sure, but it sure looks like he still could still put out that top 5 energy. The difference with Sparg0 is huge, but Marss does have things to improve on and reach higher.

Spargos cloud will always be 200x more fun to watch then his Aegis. His mixups and game plan is far more calculated then Just abusing Aegis busted moves.
Foreal people are only good with them because they’re such a busted character. Anyone who already knows how the smash mechanics work plus the power of the Aigis busted moves makes them better not because they’re good.
Why doesn’t Marss use the tilt stick trick with ZSS in order to stop her drift after flip kick? If you hold left stick towards your opponent and tilt stick in the opposite direction there is no drift after the kick and it would’ve saved him the second game when he got spiked because of it
I am so glad sparg0 improved a lot from the ceo set it goes to show you never give up after a loss there is always another tournament to improve and try again. It also does not help cloud got buffed and zss got nerfed quite a lot. Maybe marss might try the joker???
Its crazy how balanced ultimate is that we have so many high/mid tiers in top 8: ZSS, Cloud, Byleth. In smash 4 it was just dominated by cloud, bayo, mario, all top tiers
Imo ZSS mains undervalue the importance of wavedash with ZSS. She has a committal jump (cause she has a very high jump height and she doesn't have aerials that don't last long and are disjointed) and depending on the MU she get her jumps baited. Wavedash can fake the jump squat animation and bait people trying to punish her jumps, like Sparg0 did in this match.
