- Hey everyone and welcome to Railroads Online! Today we are back checking out a brand new update which features a new roundhouse, knuckle couplers and so much more! This update adds a lot of features to the game which I think are really going to improve gameplay including surveying tools for investigating terrain before laying track!

I know Hyce said he'd never play RRO again, but I kinda miss the absolute chaos of Hyce and Kan's RRO sessions. I hope someday Hyce and Keume can squash their beef and Hyce can play RRO again.
Kan! Interesting fact. You can link a turntable to the roundhouse tracks so it's perfectly aligned vertically for when you get to making engine storage
If you set the weather to anything that makes it snow, the snow will accumulate on the tracks. You don't _need_ to clear it, but both plows will clear it.
They even had a special shovel known as a grain shovel. These shovels are now generally made out of sheet metal and fiberglass. These are probably the best snow and ice shovels you will find. And if you bugger up the edge too much you can just cut it off
I can attest to that.
The April update is going to have where you can change switches from the map. They are going to Improve FPS. Plus you will be able to see your track ,engines and rolling stock on the map.

13:05 I don't know how credible this is because it's internet information, but I saw somewhere that most speedometer gauges are designed to put the top speed near the top of the dial so it's easier to see. I wish they would do a different one for the geared locos because the Shay does just over 5mph on it's own power, and the Climax does about 9. 11 with reverser but flat ground doesn't exist in Aurora Falls.
You're partially correct about them being easier to read, but also older mechanical gauges are more accurate at the center. So most speedometers go higher than you'll typically operate at. Though modern cars for example don't use mechanical gauges anymore, it just became the standard.
I just noticed at 3:44 that moving the reverser in the UI actually moves the connecting rod down the side of the engine and the valve gear underneath. Neat bit of realism.
My friend mentioned it sounds like you're saying "weed farm" instead of "wheat farm" and I can't unhear it now.

If you want snow for your snowplows just set the weather to snowing.
It was 5 grain, 5 straw bales, and 10 water to make 2 cows. Started with 8, 8, and 36 after unloading.
being able to stay in the Cab and pick up cars is the best with the knuckle coupling
Knuckle couplers are very iconic. There must be something right if they're still used to this day
I know there's other, "better" couplers, like Scharfenberg couplers, but something about them doesn't seem like they're really made for potentially daily coupling and uncoupling while being strong and reliable enough to be the first behind a locomotive pulling thousands of tons of train. What I can find is that the are used in the USA, but mainly on transit systems even around the world.
Also, simplicity of maintenance of AAR knuckles compared to other types.

I had a bit of an anyeurism over the Knuckles on the D&RG Class 25/Montezuma and the Gregg Cars is absurd, it looks like the developers were afraid to have the knuckles too lose on the cars so they stuck them out very far so they wouldn't derail on curves but ended up overcompensating. And then the knuckles don't reach out over the pilots of many a locomotive.
If you dont like them there is option in gamento turn them off
Please be sure to save often while on the beta. It crashes quite often from interacting with couplers, brakes, and possibly other causes.
They actually got the Eureka & Palisade #4 “Eureka” up to 45 mph once, but the water in the tender sloshed around so violently it was a miracle it didn’t come off the rails from the inertia of the water moving around. If not for that limitation, they think Eureka could have reached 60 mph. The water tank in tenders back then were very simple and notorious for causing derailments when the water started moving. Heck, a tender’s water even caused a high speed express train to derail just after WWII - covered by “Part-time Explorer” on his channel. Water is heavy, and it will go where it wants.
It makes sense that the water won’t go into the tender. It hasn’t been treated yet, it’s raw well water. You can’t just put water in the tender, let alone into the boiler. It has to be filtered and treated first to reduce build up, scale, and particulates since they could clog a critical component and lead to an energetic rapid unscheduled disassembly of the locomotive. However, people and animals can and do drink raw well water… but would be poisoned from drinking treated locomotive water. So, even though it’s just simply game coding: it actually holds water when compared to real life.

Probably should be unloading two of the waters at the wheat farm some of the time and one at the other times. You used 10 water for the two cows, so two water cars for the cattle farm every other trip keeps the water tank full until you change the car lineup. This will at least keep the wheat farm going with some water.
The theodolite addition looks amazing. A really useful tool that can actually help planning and laying out your future routes, in the process simulating and illustrating the usefulness of theodolites IRL I imagine. I am looking forward to seeing you play around with them @kAN

I understand wanting to operate a boiler in Celsius. I don't understand wanting to live your life between -18 and 30 degress, I'll stick with my weather between 0 and 100 degrees F thanks.
The cartography tool looks great, can’t wait to see it in action.
I saw someone else's video about RRO, and I was surprised when it was a hate piece. And all the comments were on board the hate train. For ridiculous petty reasons. I don't know what drama is going on or how toxic the "train game" community is, but I'm much happier watching your videos lol.
I would love a feature which would let you slightly move the track once you have placed it and even connected to it

Yes, 752F firebox temperature is 400C. And 337F is 170C, also a reasonably nice round number.

22:11 About the gauge. I believe the tip of the pointer is actually what points to your speed, and not the part intersecting with the dial. when the pointer looked like it was slightly above 15, the tip of the pointer was around 17, so most likely you did make it to 22 mph.
you can probably also keep them on the sides of tracks as grade markers too!
The grain box cars have an interesting history if you want to look it up. Saw a nice documentary on here that's worth the watch
If you want money, just connect the logging camp and sawmill and deliver lumber first to the freight depot and then through the smelter to the iron mine. Then you get hoppers and all the money you can hope. I have three limas and like a 120 cars total after under a week of playing.

Favorite part of the new update is the fast mode in retail. I find myself jumping out of the cab, center clicking and choosing retail just so I can run fast and fly, right clicking to get out, flipping a switch, and then repeating the process to run fast back to the cab!

For the snowplow, the devs added in Dynamic snow, so the snow piles up on the track, allowing for the usage of the snowplows. As for small cattle cars, there aren't any that are known at the moment, but there are small designs that could carry something like two cows.
I was asking for that survey tool it feels like 2 years ago. About time they got to it.
Yeah stuff like that were planned features from long ago. The studio had been dealikg and going through alot. They seem to have mostly sorted it out. Also converted to ubreal 5 which helped fix alot of native issues
Kan you should check out the 9th smokestack design on the tenmile. It’s really cool and weird.
This is by far the best update. Track building is a lot more fun now.

In real trains the water for the engine is treated. I believe it is to keep it from corroding the tender and boiler.

22:30 Throttle on the ceiling, bar closer to center. They're simulating the reverser properly as of the previous update and I don't think I've seen you use it.
And I mean the new UI is even showing it on the sliders themselves...

The 4-6-0 has a hooter that I feel like should be on the 8-½C3, 8-18C, 8-20D and 10-22D as well.
Yes you have snow and it's not just in the mountains 🏔️. You also get it where you currently are now. It's in the settings with the weather.

Would it be cool if they add an ICRR 371 class or an ICRR 603 class. (the engines Casey Jones drove on the Illinois Central Railroad? It intresting also cause the ICRR 371 class specifically ICRR 382 is pretty iconic.
There is a new turntable, as well, that is big enough to fit the new 2-8-2 locomotive. Iirc the turntable will snap to the roundhouse tracks.
You can connect your track to your Coaling tower
I always thought c• for weather elements and f• for body. But oven is a good one too
Roundhouses do go together and one can make a bigger roundhouse
The roundhouses do tile together and look nice from the outside. The interior gets messed up though.

the cattle car is a tier 5 car, and I think you need a tier 5 engine to be able to purchase it (last time I tried to buy a higher tier car than my engine and it wouldnt let me idk if that is still the case)
To do everything in one trip, it would be good to have a train containing at least 3 of each carriage to be able to have more cows, and regarding the production of hay and grains, it would be good to have more zones that are a little more separated, With the new tools and constructions you can make a train suitable for this heavy type of travel
U can placr industry to make more zone

one locomotive i hope we see is a 2-4-4-2 mallet type steam locomotive
When the knuckle couplers come to the main branch I'll be using them all the time I'm tired of having to couple individual cars

I heard you can travel in time if you get a train up to 88 MPH.

Yes the togglable feature that they had onn the add list for years. Totally someone elses fault. Just let games do things geeze. Is every shooter a doom clone and just a surface level copt with no reasons for planning or anything :p😊
How do you get the game to run so smoothly? My setup is an i5-12600k and 3060Ti, but my trains are still very jittery.

kAN you know if you reduce the reverser to 50%-70% you can go faster (if your train doesn't have many cars behind)

I think the class 125 can go 40 bc it's tractive effort is 12000. Maybe it cN go faster?
You dont have to record it but I'd get someone on to help with money once you're able to run 2 industries, as you get more engines you'd be able to make exponentially more money

"farenheit is for your oven" might be the most ridiculous thing I've heard in the temperature scale wars. Once you're well into triple digits theres no benefit or real difference between either of them. The cake box could just say like 165 instead of 325

Not true for Germany though, our trains drive on the right lane just like road traffic

That snowplow looks like it’s a locomotive itself
The rotary's engine is purely to power the blades. Hyce made a video explaining it, but basically the rotary has to work just as hard as the locomotives pushing it to clear the amount of snow accumulation they get.

the steam discussions page already had people complaining (Cry) it does not move on its own since they think it classifies as a locomotive coz it has internal one for the rotor 🤷♂
And here we can clearly see the distinction between a steam _locomotive_ and a steam _engine._
