This was an awesome explore , very happy to have Joined you on this one
Multi level food court was AMAZING!! The gorgeous fountain brought life to the center of the mall with trees. It was INCREDIBLE. Then they ruined it by removing it. It looked like a park in the middle. I’m sure it was expensive to take care of but damn it was unlike any mall.
It breaks my heart to see photos of malls back in the day compared to now. Just like everything, they don't make them like they used to.
I’ve been to this mall dozens of times, and I wish I could be able to experience it in its prime. Really hope some of the new places and renovations kick the mall back into gear a little bit. Awesome vid.
I'm the elf in the front of the boat 😊
Dude this is such a beautiful mall!! Fantastic vid, I really hope to see this one for myself one day!
It was amazing, easily one of my favorite fountains I've seen. I really hope they do keep it as-is. Outdoor type de-mallings are a mistake, especially in places that have winter weather.
Absolutely worth the trip! Dragged my partner along for the hour ride and got some incredibly liminal pics. I’m sure you’d capture it beautifully as per usual! Love your content.
It's a depressing place to be, but they have a neat arcade, a few good restaurants, and a nice little movie theater
Fountains, plants, multilevel food court and a roller rink, stores I wish I could have zeen that in its hay day!❤😂
Back in the 80’s, it was THE place to be on Friday and Saturday nights.
I was the marketing manager when we praked again in 2016. I left in 2017.. It's nice to hear someone speak about the hardwork the team put in that year.
I love this mall! Come at the right time, and it's pretty active actually!
I have many fond memories of the Fingerlakes Mall. I was a traveling teacher and made at least one stop a week in the area on my rounds. It was a beautiful, cool space on hot days; I liked many of the food court restaurants; it was never packed tight with shoppers, and a stop at the bookstore and a panini for lunch near a fountain was a great midday break.
woah. this is my childhood mall. i used to go to girl scouts there. i never realized how beautiful it really is. i think im gonna try to go there sometime soon after this video. thank you so much for making this, it's truly wonderful ❤
I remember as a kid in the 90s fl mall was full of stores. It was always full of people and was a weekly trip for my family. Since the early 2000s it has slowly died. What a shame.
hello! i grew up with this mall, i only live 30 minutes away from it actaully. im so sad it fell apart so quickly. now the only thing holding it together is bass pro. i have so many memories of playing in the arcade, seeing santa in bass pro, etc. im nearly 16 now and i wish my little sister could experience the same things i did with this mall.
This is the best video on this mall I've seen yet! Great job!!!
Funny that people say this mall is the most haunted place in auburn when we literally have multiple large cemeteries and countless decaying victorian homes.
Then again, i saw a mysterious reddish stain on the ground at fingerlakes mall, so.
I would say fort hill cemetery is the creepiest place in town. I've never actually heard about the mall being haunted.
It really was a magical place back in the day. It's been really sad watching it decline.
They are supposed to be bringing back roller skating and that should hopefully help out the mall
I remember the roller rink above the food court as a kid. The place was so cool kids nowadays have no idea what they're missing.
"Also said to be haunted..."
Lol, lmao even.
I'm from auburn and I've never heard that, so not sure where the narrator got that from.
Never have been the biggest fan of malls but something a tad different with this one as it is "appealing"....👍👍👍
i remember taco bell and the gino and joes pizza next to the arcade near the cinema.
My dad said he worked at a burger King there in the 80s but yeah the pizza place there changed hands many times but was always enjoyable.
Beautifully filmed.
My childhood mall.
Every ten years or so it feels like it might make a comeback but the rumor around town is that the owner doesn’t give a shit because he lives down in NYC and wants it as a tax write off, so none of the local businesses that move rhere can afford the rent to revitalize the place
Funny I've heard the same. Something about him charging outrageous rent despite the stores leaving. Makes no sense, but if what you're saying is true I can see why now. Shame
@@zombiedog1088 It really is, especially because its a beautiful building that gets more foot traffic than most malls but the insane rent is slowly choking it out
I grew up going to this mall! Kept going back over the years and watched the stores disappear one by one. Used to be an amazing mall in the 80s..the roller rink was the main bday spot for most of us kids living nearby, I lived in Cayuga. So many great memories...it was such a warm place. I was there as recently as a couple years ago, has a creepy feel but is still very nostalgic.
I had my first date here. Movies, arcade, and a ROLLER RINK!!! It's a small mall and they had a roller rink upstairs! Later years I would comb through the record and book stores. I feel bad for kids nowadays. They don't know what a busy mall was like. Literally magical because you made wishes by tossing a coin in the fountain.
every time i hear the song the stroke by billy squier brings me right back to going to the roller rink as a kid in the early 80s.
I was a kid in the 90s so I was there for it's closing.. yeah a fantastic place that has been abandoned and the food court resorted to this flat boring ghost town.
Awesome stores: Walden’s, Chess King, Foxmoore, Chapels, New Domain, Marjax, Kaybee,
What day and time did you record all this empty mall footage? IE: Monday morning would look a lot different than Saturday at 3 pm.
I live in auburn and I love the finger lakes mall
Nice job guys, thank you again.
this is the town I live in whoa
Hey me too!
Wonderful Video!!! I really Like the Fountain!!!! F+L, Corey
So sad to see malls dying.
This one's sad. They put actual effort into it, it doesn't look cookie cutter like most of the dead malls.
This mall seems to still have a lot of its originality to it.
It was a beaut back in the day.
The food court fountain was lovely why they took it out i will never understand The mall went down hill when basspro came in it was right before they removed the food court fountain
That fountain was so cool. The ambiance was ruined after they removed it then the food places left one by one.
Never even knew this existed. I lived in Skaneateles until 1977. The closest mall was Fairmont Fair back then.
Fairmount Fair, the strip mall on West Genesee St in Syracuse?
Fairmount fair. Yeah it was similar but that's long gone now.
It was the best mall ever until the mail went down until it was dead
Beautiful mall.
Pretty sure this was filmed around Halloween with Spirit Halloween looks to be in old Sears spot every Sears in every mall ever saw pics or videos of has that title front
It looks similar to the late Mohawk Mall in Schenectady
Looks a bit like Hampshire Mall in Hadley, Mass
Man those prices!!! DeLorean please!
I’m just hear to listen to the retro music. May you send me the link please?
I can write a short story taking place in the Fingerlakes Mall.
Par for the course in Auburn. A dead mall in a dead hopeless town. People are getting out of Auburn in droves, people are fed up with paying for the drug addicts and scummers that refuse to work who plague the town. One day Bass Pro will get it together and leave, then they can bulldoze the place.
At this point auburn has more crows than people
@@janesullivan692lol. The crows are horrible in auburn. In the autumn through the spring they cover your car in awful excrement. I am so glad I left auburn.
4 years because of C19? Only in a blue state. Beyond ridiculous
They were following the "science"
It was actually only three years.
They legitimately just forgot to take the signs down, as a local the place is so severely understaffed that over half of the stores are ran by the same guy running between them and I wish I was kidding
So go live in a red state and mine some coal hill billy
