I totally get this as a winter holiday palette! It looks like icy winter goodness to me. It's a muted sophisticated take on Christmas colors while looking very 30's retro.
I agree. The red/green combo looks like Christmas. The Glam shimmers look like New Year’s eve. Or, if you just take away the two minty shades, the other greens and peach look like fall. I am surprised that people are not opening their minds a bit more. I don’t get hung up on the season a palette is released. Will I use it? is all that matters.
I live in the tropics and we rarely wear dark colors so I know I will use this year round 🌴 ☀️ 😎

When I saw your eyeshadow fall, and then all but 4 shadows had fallen, I gasped out loud. My husband asked me what was wrong, and being the husband of a Natasha Denona lover, he knew the value of that palette and what it could mean to see all those empty pans. We were both happy to see that no shadows were lost in the making of this video!

Well, today I received the Sydney Grace In Mel's Memory bundle that a few have mentioned as dupes for each other. However, Mel's vision for what she had hoped for the OG Retro Midi palette to look like runs much more earthy in its tones, and way less icy pastel. So, now I won't feel bad when I spring for this icy, wintery blast, too!

I love the green look! I actually think this palette will be good for icy, wintery looks. It makes me think of January & February, snow, skiing, and Valentines Day. I picked it up on the last day of the Sephora sale and I'm looking forward to experimenting with it!

When you compared this palette to other ND palettes it inspired me to use this one, and then reach for my Glam palette to enhance the look. I'd love to see you do something like "3 Palettes, 3 Looks" to show us ways you would combine the Retro Glam with your choices of ND palettes. If I'm doing my makeup at home, I'm never limiting myself to one palette if an addition from another might take my eye look from lovely to stunning!

I think perhaps Natasha was going for frosted winter vibes. The peachy and mint colors are candy like, and the the shimmers and metallics look frosty. Like they are frozen. I see it as a fresh take on a winter palette.

At first glance it looked like a spring palette to me🎨 but when I think of Christmas🎄🥳, I think of green and red. That palette has several green eyeshadows and the top eyeshadow on the left looks red an sparkly.
So many people have been waiting and waiting for this palette, I think it was her gift to them, she gave it to them for Christmas…. Not my favorite release, but she gave the people what they wanted… 🤷🏻♀️
I know as a reviewer you like flashier formulas, but a lot of us appreciate a lot of mattes because we’re nurses, lawyers, sales people, office workers.

As a nurse a rock shimmers and mattes daily! My eyes pop through the mask. We can where shimmers very tastefully 😍😉

Thanks for this! Tge cover is a total throwback to the 70’s. Looks like the design of a beauty shop. Love how wearable it can be as well as glam. I also read that it was designed to be used w the glam pallet. Would love to see a five look. Some wo the green too. Everyone seems to be doing the greens but I am hoping you can create some looks w the other colors in the pallet. 😊

Regarding spring- or christmas-season, I would suggest AND as there seem to be both a dark green and a darkish pinkish red in the palett, as well as pastels.

It is springtime here in Australia so I am very happy and impatiently waiting for it to aarive on my doorstep.
As a lover of all SOFT colors(mauve, slate, sage, etc)I am SO GLAD to see this palette. It’s what the midi Retro SHOULD have been. I had to swap out the more reddish purple shades from the Love and Retro palettes and put them in a Z-palette. The softer, LESS-LIKE A VAMPIRE EXTRA FROM THE TWILIGHT SERIES shades ended up in my Retro palette for a more “me” assortment. This one together with my amended Retro a d the Glam palette make for a more comprehensive selection. Maybe I’ll grab My Dream as well.
I love it! I think she took Christmas colors Red and Green but lightened them up to Rose and Mint! So definitely a winter look I believe. Winter rose and minty land! Can't wait to get it!

I think the Retro Glam is really well thought out. It contains some taupe/beige tones to replace the ones people may have run out of in the Glam Palette. And it allows people to add a little color to their neutral looks in a nod to the holidays, without reading Christmas is neon lights.
Absolutely. I love this palette. I will use this palette alot more often and I don't go to any grand parties for Christmas so it's a perfect palette for my gatherings.
I completely agree with you, this would’ve made a great spring release. Definitely not looking for something like this as we head into the holidays.
I passed on this in favour of the SG palette. As soon as I saw that they had honoured Our Angel Mel's 🕊🕊🕊 interpretation of the "Retro" palette, I immediately ordered it.
Many other YT'rs have commented on the lack of depth in the ND palette and that matte pinks and mint greens are too similar. Tbh, it can be seen when they are used together on the eye.
I can't wait to get Our Mel's palette, I've wanted/wished/prayed that SG would run with it. How strange that both palettes have been released at the same time.

I too bought the amazing Mel’s Sydney Grace Palette! I actually bought it as soon as I heard it was being released! What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul! There wasn’t any possibility I wouldn’t purchase that palette ! That being said I am still planning to purchase the ND Retro Glam palette as well! I can’t help it I’m obsessed with Natasha Denona and have began collecting as many of her palettes as I possibly can.

I only got Mel's. I too can clearly remember watching THAT vid and hoping that SG would decide to release it as a complete palette - I'm soooooooooo very glad they (eventually) did. xx

I really like this palette and will definitely pick this one up, but I would also really really love an ND midi palette with a blue theme, with jeans blue, indigo, ocean blue etc etc. That would be so awesome!

I guess this is an unpopular opinion but I feel like this palette was inspired by Mel’s dream palette. ND had to launch it now because of the SG release. I went with the SG because I already have some of the colors and in my opinion they are every bit as good as ND. I’m all about saving a buck, sorry ND! That being said, I think this palette is gorgeous and probably would have purchased it come spring!

Wow, love those looks! I never go by colour season (too inhibiting!), I just wear what I feel like wearing and when. This palette won't really work with my colouring but I think it's going to be really popular. As for you dropping the palette, I could laugh about it once I knew all the shadows were ok!!!

Your eye looks are great! DAZZLING but muted 🌲❄☃️. Since there is no question on the quality, this palette will come down to personal preferences (Subjective). For me, I take this as the new winter look with the icy greens look. Will I try it for a xmas party? Yeah! Office appropriate! Its fun watching videos with different takes on the color combining. I got mine today but haven't used it yet but its STUNNING!! SOO happy with the packaging, the mood of the color story and can't wait to play with it. ❄❄
I literally gasped when all the shadows fell out! 😅 I’m glad nothing broke. I wasn’t sure how to feel about this palette at first, but after seeing swatches and reviews I really love it. I agree about Natasha’s shimmer shades. I wish she’d put a few more really sparkly shades into her palettes, but either way they’re so stunning. I definitely see this as more of a spring palette as well, but since it’s more muted I think it can work for all times of year. Love your looks! Can’t wait to see more ❤

I think this palette is Christmas 🎄 just a softer muted Xmas colours , you still have greens , pinky reds and nudes .

I just watched your review on the palette and for us in the Southern Hemisphere it is spring now heading into summer maybe Natasha was thinking about other countries on there different seasons for once we tend to have to put up with the colour stories that launch weather it suits our seasons or not I’m so excited to buy it but it hasn’t launched in Australia yet. Yesss!!!! Natasha’s glam face and eye palettes!!!! I love those!!! The deep is my fave, although I love both. I love the eyeshadows and blush in the deep, and I love the highlighter best in the light.

Wow!! I can’t believe those shadows didn’t break! I’m actually liking this palette more than I thought. I just got my Mario palette so I need to play with that first!
I decided to buy Mel Thompson's version of the midi retro(based on mini retro) palette created before she passed from Sydney Grace. Her bundle contains 20 shadows for $60, is highly pigmented and you can get 15% off with code PUFFINSWIFE15. While this ND palette looks beautiful in the pan, many of the colors are similar on the eye and give a muddy look. As always, your looks are gorgeous!
Me too, just picked it up. Mel’s curation is stunning and the shimmers she picked are my jam ✨🎉 I love ND shadows but Mel’s is just so beautifully done plus it goes deeper too so it’s a stand alone for me. Sydney Grace formula is on point too so it’s a no brainer for me.
When Mel dropped her video over a year ago and the SG sale was going on I was able to pick up most of the shades. When they restocked, I eventually picked up the remaining shades. It is my beloved palette! It is so versatile and goes so much deeper than the ND. 🥰
I did pick it up, hopefully I will love it also. You could be right, Spring time palette will be beautiful also. But I think it’s beautiful wearable retro. However last years Glam Face palettes are hard to beat. I hope we get more of those next year. I think the color story is perfect for the holidays because of the peaches (which are a form of red) and definitely the greens. The names she chose are also "holiday" themed: holly, evergreen, belle. I would have loved to see you combine the greens with the taupe shades. Some people are complaining that this palette doesn't have enough dark/intense colors and that they have to reach for her other palettes or use gel eyeliners to get the depth they want. I think they need to watch Natasha's demos because she was able to create some very smoky looks using the greens and taupes as well as her macro tech pencils. One reviewer in particular said that Mel Thompson's Sydney Grace curation of the Retro palette is better because there are deeper colors in hers and no repetitive shades like there are in Natasha's. I disagree with that perception. Mel also has different intensities of the greens and peaches plus her browns are no deeper than Natasha's. I love both Natasha's and Mel's version of the original Retro mini palette.

I’m with you on the sparkly shimmer shades train, Patty! That’s why I watch all ND palettes reviews cause I wanna know if she does her sparkly formula, otherwise I’m not buying it. I don’t love this color story at all tho happy for the people who have been asking for this.
