I think some analysis is in order...
- In general, the map appears to be laid out differently, with a more realistic top-down perspective. Best demonstrated by looking at the gate at 0:24.
- 0:21: You can see that the "game piece" used to represent the player looks different than the regular male/female Analander game piece. From the description: "Disguise yourself - adopt different disguises as you infiltrate the Citadel. Characters react differently depending on how you are dressed". It will be interesting to see just how this will be implemented.
- 0:34: Zooming in on the mysterious "ZeD" spell is an obvious sign that the spell will play an important role in this installment. Let's see if it can live up to our expectations.
- 0:35: Among the clues listed is "Minimites Prevent Magic". I'm sure you all remember Jann the Minimite from the first installment; perhaps he'll be making a return, or another Minimite will appear? Also listed is "Colletus", a guardian of Mampang that the players can hear of from using the SSS spell on the Serpents. And of course, the clue shown to us is intriguing as well...
- 0:40: Let's check out each of these snippets of game text.
- "Something screams overhead..." Likely a Birdmen ambush.
- "The fighting guards..." Probably just some flavor text for the result of a spell.
- "Flanker spits..." Proof that our friend Flanker will be appearing in this installment, assuming you spared his life. He does reveal in the third installment that he is journeying to Mampang, so it will be interesting to see what his role will be.
- "Wrapped up inside this hourglass..." Something to do with the rewind feature? It is revealed later that you will not be able to rewind in Mampang, so perhaps this hourglass is responsible.
- "The lovestruck Goblin..." Perhaps the result of a spell? There doesn't seem to be any "love" spell, so perhaps this may just be an encounter with a strange NPC.
- "Aliizi traces the lines..." Now this is definitely interesting. Some of you will remember Aliizi, the invisible girl who steals your sword in the Forest of Snatta. What is she doing in Mampang? Interestingly enough, if Aliizi accompanies you to the lake where you can forage for nuts and mushrooms, Aliizi will warn you that eating a mushroom will "make you forget who you are"... perhaps there's more to her than we are told, and she herself has forgotten too. The e-mail you get if you signed up for the Sorcery newsletter also states that there are multiple endings, one of which is "find love"...
- "You feel the power..." Another one of the endings listed in the e-mail is "become the next Archmage". That's definitely not good...
- 0:53: We finally get a glimpse of the Birdmen, and they do not look pretty.
- 1:09: No rewinding in Mampang. Quite a revelation indeed...
No rewinding? As in we can't go back and make different choices?

No, if you look at the bottom of the screen at 0:24 you can see half of the rewind button. The video must just be zoomed in.
The flavor text at 1:08 states "You have entered the Citadel of Mampang. *Here* no decision can be rewound."
The footage at 0:24 shows the player outside of the Citadel of Mampang, so they'd still be able to rewind. I assume that once you cross the gate, the button will disappear.
Maybe? That's freaky to think about. O.o
Books 2 and 4 were always my favourite. I remember there being plenty of hidden passages in Crown of Kings and it was a very different book to the previous 3.

I can't believe that one sneaky dragon.. forgot which one. Because i failed the witch's trial I couldn't kill it so EVEN THOUGH ITS TRAPPED IN A CRYSTAL BALL IT CAN INFORM THE ARCHMAGE I'M ARRIVING..
+Matt C it's the Sun Serpent. In the book if you don't find that one it tells you it will never reach the Archmage and you still win.

To be honest I think that would be cool and not entirely impractical. After all, they added a lot of content, from what I know, compared to the original Sorcery! gamebooks. For instance, there was no Aliizi, there was no time travel aspect, Flanker only appeared in the first two volumes. Still, I very much doubt Sorcery! 5 would ever happen lol.

oh my! I need to go back and get a definitive save game for end of sorcery 3. But what to go for: all serpents dead, best time, most items? Maybe a save game for each!
best gamebook ever but to reach the crown is quite a challenge, and even harder if you didn't slay the 7 serpents(they know you're coming and they've prepared a warm welcome)

I can just imagine this, you burst into a throne room and you are expecting a big fight but then you just have to beat him in a game of swindlestones. ;)

woo! yeah! and hrmmmm, wondering if I should go replay 3 to refresh my memory and to perhaps get a better result (killed all serpents, but took waaaay too long to do it! Perhaps too much backtracking, but I'd like to think it's because I'm a bit of a completionist...)?
