you can just swap to another subclass after u get strand empowerment that damn mission really stressed me out too, but this realization allowed me to put on void and go to town on the last guy
I'm happy I stumbled past this I just got to the boss fight, I haven't died to any of the enemies but I keep flying off the map, thank you for this I look forward to trying it
While using the cheese I noticed occasionally he would go back to center and I'd have to reset him again by shooting towards the platform again, but it worked
PSA: Loreley splendor helm works with Strand during the campaign missions, as long as you have the Solar subclass equipped. Grants a lot more survivability on strand Titan
Yep this is what I ran. Osteo striga to keep a ticking dot on calus preventing shield regeneration, good ol Cartesian coordinate for chunky burst if needed, then a hothead for quick burst on calus during second phase. Took about 15-20 attempts to do legit but worth it!
The Loreley Splendor build is still just completely busted lol. I breezed through Lightfall's legendary campaign with it. The hammer does insane damage that heal you a ton, and the sunspots also heal you as well as ad clear. Just spamming hammers makes you literally unkillable lol
Thanks so much for this! As a casual player I found this mission just too challenging and really tedious, not fun at all after a few attempts. So thanks for getting me through 🙂 A few rockets in phase two gets the job done quick too
This was a tough fight but I managed! If it helped, I used the usual double fusion well warlock with starfire. It's such a basic build but it worked effectively (I didn't use any cheese). I realized what killed me most often is the dangerous platforming, I fell down wayyyy too many times. So I didn't use any Strand or grapple stuff.
Callus is able to hit thru the steps sometimes in the first part of the encounter and if you decide to go for the tormentors make sure you keep track of them. They hop onto the platform on the left and can use the scythe attack to hit you.
They can, but I didn't find they were hitting me consistently enough to be a threat. Worst case I found walking forward on the pipe to break their line of sight, causes them to jump back to the center platform to try and get at you.
Calus wouldn't move for me either so I had to spam threadling grenades to kill him. Also, the tormenters tried to flank and chip away my health when they weren't trying to knock me off the pipe with double suppressor dives.
Thank you so much for this, I did this twice, in a fireteam with my Titan and solo with my warlock. I truly tried to do it with my hunter but I kept getting pushed off the map and got sick of it. Again, thank you mate. Respect
DUDE , I GOTTA THANK YOU!!!!! I did phase 1 okay yesterday under the stairs, BUT I fell like a rock when I tried to make it to the platform to then grabble the bubble!!!! Dude, I'm old and slow no way I was gonna do this without you!!!! BTW, the ENTIRE 2ND PHASE was done USING 3 SUPERS AND 4 OR 5 RIFTS , Callus only came over in shooting range for one brief second!! Thanks!
Thank you for this! This worked perfectly. After getting flung off for the 3000th time, I was gonna give up. The grapple is a mess, it doesnt even stop you from falling most of the time.
The entire time I was doing this, i kept thinking how boring it was, but then I realized I'd much rather be bored running it oncet han be pissed running it 200 times, thank you

I tried these 2 cheeses & could never get out from under the stairs w/o falling to my death-so did non-cheese for 1st phase & cheese dome for the 2nd-worked out-thx as always for your help!
I felt like the best way for me to get good damage under the stairs was walk right up to the slits and when you see damage incoming from tormentors or calus you can just crouch and most damage won't get you, and if you need a break from splash damage just take a few steps forward after crouching. Especially with osteo striga and the randomness to the bullets it made it a lot easier to get bullets through the stairs and into dudes head, hope this helped.
THIS STILL WORKS! THANK YOU! I just did it on my Hunter. Didn’t even take that long. I’d recommend bringing a good scout rifle as your secondary and a Machine gun as your heavy. Makes it even easier. This fight would be fine if Calus moved slower, the adds didn’t endlessly respawn, and tormentors where less annoying to fight. It just doesn’t feel fair for most players, especially new players like me. I was able to get Calus to the second phase SOLO but once he’s running after you it’s just awful. So glad a cheese like this exists and I hope that Bungie either doesn’t remove it or removes it and NERFs the fight heavily. Again, thank you.

You’re not far enough to the left. You should be so far to the left that you’re convinced you’d fall. Also, Monarch wrecks him. It won’t shoot through the stairs for stage 1, but for the second part it’s perfect.

i did this on hunter pretty easy bc im faster with movement but warlock i did this cheese. Hats off to you for making it look so easy on a warlock man you are impressive beyond my comprehension! Appreciate all your vids youve helped me with so many things in this game and in turn have made it more fun. Cant wait for Elden Ring DLC to see you destroy everything without taking damage hahaha
@@VAVORiAL I wouldn't say that. For me it's just alot easier to move for me with my hunter then the other class. I've just never been good with how warlock and titans dash. I did this legit on the hunter but I had to use this method for titan because I just have way less control with when I get launched. I will admit it's probably a me problem but I just feel like when I'm not playing hunter I get hit more when I'm using the other classes. The only thing that saves me on titan is the solar subclass and this is just movement even when I don't abuse invis.
Thanks for this E. Doing the second phase from under the stairs I could never get the boss to migrate over to the wings of the platform where I could take him down. However 3 strand supers propagated through the floor and took him out.👍
I think the previous cheese is easier on titan for jumping out since warlocks are momentum based jumps, but definitely helps knowing so the doing the alts aren't as much of a pain
Took me 3 hours in previous method , as it was hard to execute phase 2. Grapple from under the bridge to a bridge and land perfectly was a pain , but I finally did it . This method would have saved me lot of nerves ... tnx
@Soft_Serve05 it took me this much since I would execute the grapple jump badly and wouldn't dock on the side bridge, and I would have to start all over again ... first time i managed to land on the side bridge , all was fine, but to get to this point you need to dps the boss for like 5 minutes ... This new method is much easyer and 100% safe .
I had the same issue, so I just melted him with Thunderlord in phase one from the upper catwalk and then grappled up when the dome came down. Thunderlord melts him in maybe thirty seconds. Then once on top I was out of heavy and pecked him down with a pulse.
@@westhemann lol there’s no way your talking about legend campaign though. Calus legend campaign takes quite a bit to take down. Wouldn’t even recommend Thunderlord tbh.

The first cheese took me a few attempts to get up on the roof, but got it done. Went back with a fireteam and it was easier to do legit. Happy to find the cheese when I was solo though.
Also easy cheese, use outbreak perfected and come out of cover and use super to kill each tormentor. Your super will be able to regen from the damage to kill both of them anyways and then swap to gjally before phase two and keep away from calus by sticking to the air for fast and easy kill

Dude. It works so great. I used Osteo and pleiades corrector but any scout in energy slot will work great, because on 2nd phase where you’re stuck in the bubble, calus ends up having his face perfectly placed so you can just face shot him with ease. Shoot osteo, get the poison going, switch to scout get headshots all day. ❤

I thought I was never going to beat the boss after the first boss fight then things hot up and boom , you fight him again in the arena , I thought I was finished , absolute impossible I said to myself. Until I saw your video and thought , wow are you sure , it took me 3 goes and I made it , I’m average player . Big big thanks to you for helping the community on your videos . I’m very greatly appreciated if your skills , I’m not sure how on earth you find these ares of the game to beat the boss , buy you are a genius , thank you 🙏
spent a week and a day on final boss and kept getting thrown of map and dieing until i seen this 😳 . awesome video and helped me complete it o. warlock now to finish the legendary campain on titan boss fight here we come again
I am glad I didn't know about this when I was taking something like 40 tries to beat him solo on my hunter, as it was satisfying to actually beat him. I might do this with my other characters just to get Strand faster, though. XP
I tried your other method of grappling above him, but missed and ended up fighting him normally inside the dome and it was actually pretty easy with Two-Tailed Fox. Just run, turn around and shoot/grenade/reload. Repeat.
Died 30 times on this stupid fight before I came across this video. Worked 1st time. To all asking, you have to move (uncomfortably) close to the edge of the pipe to make him wander over
It's been patched, but you can still use this strat! You need to get under the platform you spawn on, instead of crawling under the stairs. It will still allow you to shoot through the stairs, and is actually a safer position overall for first phase.... then you'll need to swing under the walkway (in front of the stairs) to be in the same position for phase II. Definitely less convenient, but still works.
@@shunaustin4679 That’s right. If you try you’ll find you can’t go through what the guides show. But there’s a new method that Tristain talks about. Jump to either the right or left upper catwalk, then turn around and jump onto the X patterned metal struts underneath the platform, and from those jump onto the pipe. There are some videos that show it, you can search “updated Calus cheese” for example.
For those who are doing this on a second character I would recommend the deterministic chaos if you aren't using a exotic already. It helps alot for the 2nd phase.
As someone who just tried to do this final mission with a friend on legendary and after 3 hours we gave up and did on classic just to get strand, this brings me great joy
That final fight and all the other ones where they locked you in a circular room with no cover only to force you to use strand grapple....yeah....that's bullshit man....the boss wasn't hard clearly depicted here in this video is an example of how the boss was a pushover you can sit off the side and kill him....I love this game but the artificial inflation of challenges is going too far....
@@zigzag2370 The tormenters were harder than calus lol. Plus the fact that there is next to no cover with a million adds makes regening incredibly hard
Thanks so much for the Guide. I killed both the Tormentors first, then Calus phase 1, so he wasn't very co-operative for phase 2. I actually had to lean out quite a ways on on the right side (opposite of your video), before he would walk over so I could shoot him. So if others have this issue, just have some patience and take some shots on the platform to draw his attention. Once again, thanks for the Video!
My hands started to hurt after the first few attempts at this normally, so I’m glad I learned about the phase 1 before I did the fight just in case. A few attempts later I learned that phase 2 could be cheesed as well, thanks to this video. That said, always bring a Wish Ender, that thing HURTS them good
Tried this and Calus just stands directly above me and rarely moves away. Nevermind. I had to start over twice until Calus moved his ass into place. Worked like a charm!
Outbreak is a great option for phase 1. With catalyst it's hitting like 2400 per impact and just melts him. Then I did the grapple thing on top of the bubble and absolutely shredded him with it
I used Polaris Lance for phase 1, because that explosive shot does insane damage, then switched to Le Monarque to cheese phase 2 from on top of the bubble. The poison dps was crazy, and he's so easy to crit from up there, lol.
The witness: "Allow me adorn you with riches and power beyond comprehension so you may thwart all those who would oppose you" A staircase: "You dont understand, im not trapped in here with you, youre trapped in here, with me...."

So I just finished this fight but used up all my RNG on a super inadvertent save. Basically, I got jump slammed by a Tormenter and it pushed me off the platform, but I somehow landed on the support beams under a catwalk. I waited til my Super charged up, grappled back onto the platform and beat Calus. Thus using all my RNG for the expansion
thank you for this. i just did it on solo, after 3 times got pushed by calus at 2nd phase. funny thing, i actually forgot to make way to the center on 2nd phase, so i got booted on main platform again, but actually i managed to beat him using strand super on warlock and a bit of machine gun.
You just gotta think... This guy watched us tear the absolute fuck out of his ship on several occasions. He knows very well how powerful we are. But stairs tho....
I had struggled to Kill Calus, ran the campaign Solo and Legendary. But refused to use the cheese method. I found standing right at the back of the big platforms and dropping the ads then taking pot shots at Calus worked. Saving heavy and super for the tormentors. When I went into the bubble just swung like Tarzan and witherhoard did the rest. Took me 41 attempts, but done.
thanks, I did this on my second character because I suck on my titan, it was kinda nostalgic because i did this stuff in solo nightfalls in D1 almost everyone had a cheese spot
FYI, this may have been patched for the second phase. Calus does NOT move around much. He does but it’s a LOT of waiting around for him to get to those spots on either side. I had him almost dead and ended up using my hunter strand super under him and it worked.
nah, I just did it today, his pathfinding is just a little finicky, gotta fire a bit generally to draw his aggro, then he (and any surviving tormentors) will wander to the corner of the platform and kind of get stuck there, allowing you to take them down pretty easy. (I did however draw him to the right side rather than the left, as we see in the video here)
Bruh. THANKS FOR THIS. This fight is unbalanced AF. I either keep getting knockbacked off or instant killed by calus. I have probably over 3000 kills and 100 deaths combined after walking away few times
For some reason bows can’t shoot through the stairs. I used Le Monarque from on top of the bubble though and that destroyed him and the adds in no time. Thanks for the amazing videos!

The jump can be a pain for sure, but I'm glad the first phase worked for you at least, and it helped get it done!

It's not that hard. Burst DPS super + Grand Overture made this quite easy. People do suck at movement though and get constantly picked off.

This was a big help! Could not get through the second phase. Outbreak prime with the catalyst made real quick work of everything in the room.
Took me 3 hours in previous method , as it was hard to execute phase 2. Grapple from under the bridge to a bridge and land perfectly was a pain , but I finally did it . This method would have saved me lot of nerves ... tnx
@Soft_Serve05 it took me this much since I would execute the grapple jump badly and wouldn't dock on the side bridge, and I would have to start all over again ... first time i managed to land on the side bridge , all was fine, but to get to this point you need to dps the boss for like 5 minutes ... This new method is much easyer and 100% safe .

I had the same issue, so I just melted him with Thunderlord in phase one from the upper catwalk and then grappled up when the dome came down. Thunderlord melts him in maybe thirty seconds.
Then once on top I was out of heavy and pecked him down with a pulse.
@@westhemann lol there’s no way your talking about legend campaign though. Calus legend campaign takes quite a bit to take down. Wouldn’t even recommend Thunderlord tbh.

The first cheese took me a few attempts to get up on the roof, but got it done. Went back with a fireteam and it was easier to do legit. Happy to find the cheese when I was solo though.
Also easy cheese, use outbreak perfected and come out of cover and use super to kill each tormentor. Your super will be able to regen from the damage to kill both of them anyways and then swap to gjally before phase two and keep away from calus by sticking to the air for fast and easy kill

Dude. It works so great. I used Osteo and pleiades corrector but any scout in energy slot will work great, because on 2nd phase where you’re stuck in the bubble, calus ends up having his face perfectly placed so you can just face shot him with ease. Shoot osteo, get the poison going, switch to scout get headshots all day. ❤

I thought I was never going to beat the boss after the first boss fight then things hot up and boom , you fight him again in the arena , I thought I was finished , absolute impossible I said to myself. I am glad I didn't know about this when I was taking something like 40 tries to beat him solo on my hunter, as it was satisfying to actually beat him. I might do this with my other characters just to get Strand faster, though. XP

I tried your other method of grappling above him, but missed and ended up fighting him normally inside the dome and it was actually pretty easy with Two-Tailed Fox. Just run, turn around and shoot/grenade/reload. Repeat.

To all asking, you have to move (uncomfortably) close to the edge of the pipe to make him wander over
It's been patched, but you can still use this strat! You need to get under the platform you spawn on, instead of crawling under the stairs. It will still allow you to shoot through the stairs, and is actually a safer position overall for first phase.... then you'll need to swing under the walkway (in front of the stairs) to be in the same position for phase II. Definitely less convenient, but still works.

@@shunaustin4679 That’s right. If you try you’ll find you can’t go through what the guides show. But there’s a new method that Tristain talks about. Jump to either the right or left upper catwalk, then turn around and jump onto the X patterned metal struts underneath the platform, and from those jump onto the pipe. There are some videos that show it, you can search “updated Calus cheese” for example.
With the Austrio Striga bug you can afk this if you poison calus and then hold out a vorpal weapon in your secondary slot
For those who are doing this on a second character I would recommend the deterministic chaos if you aren't using a exotic already. It helps alot for the 2nd phase.

That final fight and all the other ones where they locked you in a circular room with no cover only to force you to use strand grapple....yeah....that's bullshit man....the boss wasn't hard clearly depicted here in this video is an example of how the boss was a pushover you can sit off the side and kill him....I love this game but the artificial inflation of challenges is going too far....

Thanks so much for the Guide. I killed both the Tormentors first, then Calus phase 1, so he wasn't very co-operative for phase 2. I actually had to lean out quite a ways on on the right side (opposite of your video), before he would walk over so I could shoot him. So if others have this issue, just have some patience and take some shots on the platform to draw his attention.

My hands started to hurt after the first few attempts at this normally, so I’m glad I learned about the phase 1 before I did the fight just in case.
A few attempts later I learned that phase 2 could be cheesed as well, thanks to this video.
That said, always bring a Wish Ender, that thing HURTS them good

Tried this and Calus just stands directly above me and rarely moves away.

Outbreak is a great option for phase 1. With catalyst it's hitting like 2400 per impact and just melts him. Then I did the grapple thing on top of the bubble and absolutely shredded him with it
I used Polaris Lance for phase 1, because that explosive shot does insane damage, then switched to Le Monarque to cheese phase 2 from on top of the bubble.
The poison dps was crazy, and he's so easy to crit from up there, lol.
The witness: "Allow me adorn you with riches and power beyond comprehension so you may thwart all those who would oppose you"
A staircase: "You dont understand, im not trapped in here with you, youre trapped in here, with me...."
Will definitely do this with other characters

Oh wow. Thank you for this one. This is one fight that's tough to understate just how terrible it is.
So I just finished this fight but used up all my RNG on a super inadvertent save. Basically, I got jump slammed by a Tormenter and it pushed me off the platform, but I somehow landed on the support beams under a catwalk. I waited til my Super charged up, grappled back onto the platform and beat Calus. Thus using all my RNG for the expansion

This was the best way for me get under the stairs beat the tormentors then got to phase 2 and just used my strand super on him
I tried only once with OUTBREAK PERFECTED and I passed. She is very good in this fight, I dare say she is better than Osteo Striga

thank you for this. i just did it on solo, after 3 times got pushed by calus at 2nd phase. funny thing, i actually forgot to make way to the center on 2nd phase, so i got booted on main platform again, but actually i managed to beat him using strand super on warlock and a bit of machine gun.
This mission is tough thanks for this was struggling with the grapple

I had struggled to Kill Calus, ran the campaign Solo and Legendary. But refused to use the cheese method. I found standing right at the back of the big platforms and dropping the ads then taking pot shots at Calus worked. Saving heavy and super for the tormentors. When I went into the bubble just swung like Tarzan and witherhoard did the rest. Took me 41 attempts, but done.
Was this nerfed? Couldn’t crouch under the walkway for the life of me.
thanks, I did this on my second character because I suck on my titan, it was kinda nostalgic because i did this stuff in solo nightfalls in D1 almost everyone had a cheese spot
FYI, this may have been patched for the second phase. Calus does NOT move around much. He does but it’s a LOT of waiting around for him to get to those spots on either side. I had him almost dead and ended up using my hunter strand super under him and it worked.
nah, I just did it today, his pathfinding is just a little finicky, gotta fire a bit generally to draw his aggro, then he (and any surviving tormentors) will wander to the corner of the platform and kind of get stuck there, allowing you to take them down pretty easy. (I did however draw him to the right side rather than the left, as we see in the video here)
Bruh. THANKS FOR THIS. This fight is unbalanced AF. I either keep getting knockbacked off or instant killed by calus. I have probably over 3000 kills and 100 deaths combined after walking away few times
For some reason bows can’t shoot through the stairs. I used Le Monarque from on top of the bubble though and that destroyed him and the adds in no time. Thanks for the amazing videos!

Esoteric taught me this cheese and the 2nd phase above the shield cheese aswell. Hope it doesn't become a out of bounds in any future updates
