    I throw cake and cookies at my discomfort.
    Joking aside, this is 85% accurate. So many people keep trying to get rid of all the discomfort instead of increase out capacity to withstand it. I feel both approaches are needed. We need to increase are capacity to tolerate emotional/physical discomfort but we also do need to process (stop being triggered) many of the events that trigger us.
    In the 12 step program adult children of alcoholics and Dysfunctional families you do both. You learn to process and to increase tolerance for your discomfort.

    We have to take authority while we're in this body before we lose it. The main thing is to surrender it's egocentric flaws and humble ourselves.

    This is tremendously insightful. I plan on trying your suggestion.
    Instead of the rush to find some solution as I stuff down my feelings, I'll allow myself to take note of how I feel I feel and to not run away from it.

    So good. Things started really changing for me when I realized whenever my nervous system reacted bringing uncomfortable symptoms, I would feel so annoyed/frustrated at my body and would angrily do some technique to try and make it go away. LOL. One day I heard a guided meditation saying how this is your body speaking to you. It thinks it's in severe danger, so it's working hard to fight the threat. So when the next big wave of shaking came on, I instead "talked" to my body and told it "Thank you for letting me know you feel unsafe. That's understandable. You're ok. You're safe here. You're doing great" and didn't try to make the feeling go away. And OMG it was the most freeing thing! I kinda forgot about it though... 😁 so this is a great reminder. Thank you
