For those wondering about this, the model ships have a percentage of their hulls cut out and covered in balsa wood so the bbs can penetrate. The bb guns are automatic and are controlled by the operator with their remote. If you take more damage than your bilge pump can compensate for, you sink! These are fairly simple craft and the guns are aimed by maneuvering the ship. One can set the gun to fire straight ahead or to the side or any angle you wish and you practice firing at your chosen range and relative position of your ship to your opponent. Local chapters may have different rules. You wouldn’t want more of your hull vulnerable than your enemies!
Im not tryna be that guy but bb guns are plastic it could kill the river’s habitants. It would be better if instead of bb bullets the ship use compressed water to shoot

Hay question is using pellets instead of bbs against the rules asking cus there's alot more variation in pellet ammo than bb ammo and i would love to see how well each one performs over the others
I have so many unanswered questions.... what are they shooting? Do they shoot from one gun? What is the source of power for the projectile? Is it actually causing damage to sink the other ships?
they are shooting bb's from basicly re purpoused airsoft guns, part of the hull is made of soft balse wood and that means that the airsoft guns can cause holes and thus they can sink.
I hate to be this guy because I think this is super cool and I would love to try it, but I'm assuming the bbs they shoot don't affect the environment/water birds?
Most of the guns on the boats are decorations, however if you look closely at the boats, each one has at least one larger metal gun tube that's pointing down toward the water. Those are not decorations. They are bb guns that shoot metal pellets at the other ships, below the waterline, to punch holes in them and sink them.

Is the french large destroyer of the Mogador class be big enough in a scaled rc model warship combat like this because Im not seeing anything smaller than a heavy cruiser take part in these hobbies
The small boats are harder to build and fight. The vessels are classed off by battle units, and a gun or pump counts as a unit. when you get down to destroyers, you're talking about a ship so small it can't have more than a single gun etc.
So the bbs or pellets are powerful enough to penetrate the hulls? What are the ships made from? It even takes great force to pierce common plastic plates. So what if those bbs or pellets were shot at human bodies? Any serious injuries would be caused?
Either BBs or pellets,. Looks like BBs though. I think pellets would do to much damage to fast. Would be over very quickly..BB makes a smaller hole and the pumps they have on board can handle the bit of water coming in from a few BB holes whereas pellets would make larger holes and take on water to fast for the pumps to handle ..
Fish are probably terrified... but imagine playing and a Big fish tries to bite your ship... or an Alligator! Hear me out.... can we battle in hippo infested waters.
