Walkaround of my 1966 Ford Falcon Futura Sports Coupe

  • NOTE: Video is from 2009 or so. It's lower resolution. It's shaky. And I didn't have a fancy phone or a way to edit vids at that time. Be kind to the quality :)
Also, made a mistake about the deck trim in narration. The deck trim on the futura and sports coupes says 'falcon' in the script, not futura. I misspoke but wasnt going to redo the whole vid for that.

I had a 1966 Falcon Futura Sports Coupe and it actually saved my miserable life! A lady slammed into the car, in a head on collision, destroying her 1964 Plymouth valiant coupe. It also put the 3 occupants of the Plymouth in the hospital. I walked away with a quarter inch cut on my chin which I still have today! My car suffered enough front end damage to require frame straightening and complete body part replacement for left front fender, bumper, and hood. The heavy 289 V8 played a role in this action. The Plymouth Valiant accordioned while my car was almost driveable. Three weeks later, I was back on the road. I held onto the car until late 1969. Served me well.

Great video. I bought a '68 4dr this past summer. It just rolled over 40 000 miles today. Did a five hundred mile trip here in northern Canada, and of course it ran well. I'm a muscle car guy, but I've got a new respect for Falcons. I enjoy seein your car. It's an inspiration to spill up my Falcon. Thanks for your videos of your Falcons.

Sir. i doubt there could be any bad comments about this stunning sounding falcon. i like this year because its more boxy. did the futuras look much different than regular 4doors/2doors? and You've told me before. But do you remember the pips size your running?

When I was in kindergarten in Texas in the late 60s, our school "buses" were actually late 60s Falcon station wagons in this body style, pastel blue color. Cool that someone values the simple, clean lines of the period and hasn't opted for making it into a power monster. People are so used to seeing only muscle cars from that era that I've had people tell me that all Falcons and Chevelles and Torinos were muscle cars. This is a cool car.

Beautiful beautiful car! I am glad to see people enjoy these cars as much as I do! I have a 1965 falcon sedan and am about to paint it the same satin black but white roof, as well as the headers! Very amazing car you have! Keep it up!

Great looking car. I rec'd a '66 Falcon Futura when I graduated in '68. It was a 200 cubic inch 6 cyl. automatic. The color was Maroon or maybe Burgandy. I drove it several years and then sold it. I wish I had it again.

Yes ESogEJ, it is a good car and after my opinion it is also a marvelous looking, reliable machine. I think that engine easly can reach 90-95 MPH or wath???

I really enjoyed your video, I think your Falcon is incredibly unique! I love the simplicity and the headers is a really nice nice touch. I’m hoping I can find one in my neck of the woods, they’re kind of rare in eastern Canada due to the salt that we use on our roads in winter. Thank you:))

I agree with your comment " everybody says I should do this" my 67 dos'nt have any molding or stripes. just 289 badges, falcon script on the quarterpanels and F A L C O N lettering on the trunk. everyone tells me to put Le Mans stripes on it or get the sports coupe badges, vinyl roof ect. these body lines are fine the way they are!
    I love my dirty bird.

My first car was the 1967 Ford Falcon Futura Sports Coupe 2 door with a 289 engine with a four-barrel and a 4 speed transmission. With the four barrel I was running between 200 to 225 hp. I was busting the Mustang’s with it. It was the same thing as the Mustang under the body. Frame and engine was the same. That little 289 was a bad engine!! We would get together to rum our cars. The guys with the Mustang would jump on my Falcon. The four barrel gave me a little more hp. I won a few drag races.
