The drummer, Jaehyun, is literally the most precious human being ever. Idk how to describe him, he's hilarious and adorable.
I think this one fun fact about the leader of N.flying, Seunghyub, would be great to share with you - after some not-so-pleasant first impressions of their MVs (and I know you don't blame the boys for the MVs, but it's always good to prove that they are great guys 😊):
There was one incident that make Seunghyub (he's the one rapping & singing, and he's my bias ❤️) more known within various kpop fandoms. There were even articles about it.
He was on Instagram live once, chatting with fans, when one girl in the chat said that she's scared because she's being followed by some drunk man and it was dark.
Seunghyub saw that comment and immediately said her to put him on the speaker mode and to turned up the volume of his live. When she did that, he started pretending that he's talking with her on the phone, asking her where she's right now and saying that he will be there in a minute. He stopped pretending when that creepy guy got scared away.
After that he gave his fans some advice on how to act in similar situations, saying that he has an older sister and that's why he's no stranger to instances like that.
I just love telling people that story, because N.flying are not that big, so many don't even know how kind and precious their members are ❤️

Yes! They had a lot less creative control over their stuff before Rooftop, but they’ve all proven themselves to be really good people. Seunghyub has even said he loves This Is America and really admires/loves the message and believes in it (which he DID NOT have to say, he could’ve just said he thought it was catchy). Hweseung and Dongsung have also both said they love The Umbrella Academy and the way it represents different kinds of people! They’ve come a long way, and their new sensibilities and beliefs are reflected in their more recent works and actions, of which they have more control!

Another favorite seunghyub story is when a grandpa was having phone problems he went out of his way to help him figure it out... granted it was recorded, but it's just so wholesome

hweseung is one of the greatest vocalists of this generation hands down, it pains me how underrated these boys are, they've gone thru so much!! here's a basic breakdown of their story if you're interested:
they started out with 4 members, kwangjin (previously the bassist of cnblue), seunghyub (vocal, rap, guitar, piano), cha hun (guitar), and jaehyun (drum). in 2017 (i think) hweseung was added to the group as a main vocal (he was previously a contestant on produce 101 season 2)- best decision ever btw! later that year kwangjin left the group due to allegations about assault. they promoted as 4 for a while before adding a new bassist, dongsung (the now maknae) in the beginning of this year. they were enormously underrated (sadly still are) but rooftop was their breakthrough song, it was super popular in korea! glad to see them starting to get the attention they deserve

Also Dongsung was the bassist of HONEYST, which was a young band under FNC who trained with SF9, but sadly was disbanded 2 years after.
also, some fun facts about hot potato- the whole concept of the MV is poking fun at themselves, the lyrics of the song talk about how they're a big deal while in reality they're playing in a garage (at 16:18 u see hun holding dollar bills and smiling before being jerked back to reality and realizing that he's holding overdue bills in his hands), then all the paparazzi scenes are just them daydreaming about actually being famous. at the end of the video u see jaehyun sign a document saying he'll sell his kidney cuz they're so desperate for money. it's kind of satire and they're portraying it in a really weird, funny kind of way but honestly its a little sad cuz they're basically acknowledging that people don't know about them and they're waiting to become actually famous. also fun fact, during the hot potato promotions, since they didnt have lightsticks they legit stuck potatoes on sticks, drew smiley faces on them and gave them to their fans calling them potato bongs lol
As much as N.Flying is one of mu Ult groups I think we can all agree that their debut definitely had MAYOR f**kboy-ish vibes, but I blame that entirely on FNC and the bad boy trend of 2015! As time passed their music and MVs really started showing their real selfs (which is that they´re just a bunch of adorable dorks) so I´m really excited to see you react to more of their recent music!
True, their debut image is kind of cringe. Like each of them were assigned a "role" but that was the trend at that time for boy bands. I'm glad their music reflect who they are better now.
@@petraleong yeah, a lot of agencies were trying to hop on the Block B/BTS bad boy bandwagon, which resulted in a lot of stuff like N.Flying’s cringe debut which really doesn’t reflect their personalities or aesthetic preferences AT ALL. Their music is also a whole lot more wholesome now that Seunghyub writes and composes all of it with Hun.

I dont know if anybody pointed this out yet, but the "giant woman" in The real MV is actually male rapper Jang Moonbok (from the group Limitless) he was on Produce 101 season 2 with member Hweseung! I hadnt watched the video before so that gave me a good laugh 😂😂
Okay, so they started off with 4 members, Hwesung joined after being a participant of PD101, then Kwangjin (Bassist) left, new Bassist (Dongsung) joined :D So basically they went 4 - 5 - 4 - 5

I had kinda the similar issue with you when I was getting into them where certain themes in their early mv's just rubbed me the wrong way, BUT they quickly became a group I love a lot. The drummer (Jaehyun) is such a cutie and I suggest watching their first win video because his reaction is absolutely adorable. Him and the guitarist also have a youtube channel called 2idiots that always posts hilarious content! Songwise/MV wise I'd check out Good Bam and their b-side Autumn Dream.
Same, I had a lot of issues with their early MVs, but honestly I’d say that FNC was just trying to get them on the Block B/BTS Bad Boy bandwagon, and when it fell out of vogue the company let them have more control and catered to their actual aesthetic and morals more, which is great! I don’t think their early MVs are at all indicative of them as a group.
people have already mentioned the changing number of members, but one thing i will add is that even though they were officially 4 throughout 2019, dongsung (the newest addition) played bass for them for any performances they did whether that be on tour, busking or for tv. you should definitely check out their immortal songs performances (both n.flying as a group and hweseung by himself), they just give such an insight into their versatility past their own discography
i’d also like to belatedly add that e-yo is a fan song, that they wrote at the start of the year once dongsung joined the band. other than the vocalists, the other members don’t really rap/sing in the songs (other than backing vocals), so every time i watch the live clip or listen to the song i get so emotional because they’re singing what they want to say to the fans :(

jaehyun (drummer) always snatches hearts right off the bat (including mine, so damn quick) because he is just so fucking precious and his smile could rid the world of all its ailments. he's actually currently in japan filming a drama!
I really recommend Good Bam. There is an MV and it's adorable ^^ also the drummer's name is jaehyun and he's the cutest person to exist. You could also watch the video of their first win (they won with rooftop) it was adorable and so sincere
And I would also recommend you to go read the lyrics for the song E-yo, the song was obviously written for the fans, and there is an MV too that's super cute
Seunghyub is EVERYTHING. His stage presence and charisma is incredible, he’s both an amazing rapper and vocalist, and he seems like genuinely one of the best people out there. Also his speaking voice is amazing???? Handsome as hell????

Hot potato there in Korea is really 'famous' and liked by koreans, so they are basically saying that everyone will like them AHAHAHAH
They debuted with 4 members (Cha Hun, Jaehyun, Seunghyub and Kwangjin) in 2013. In 2018 Kwangjin the bassist left due to some alligations that eventually were proved false (and after he enlisted). In 2017 the main vocalist Hweseung was added (he took part in Produce 101 and after joined the group). At the beginning of 2020 the new bassist Dongsung was added.
So we have now:
Hweseung main vocalist
Seunghyub leader, vocalist and rapper
Jaehyun the drummer
Cha Hun the guitarist and vocalist
DongSung the bassist and vocalist

Thanks for the honest opinions. I was so glad to see you finally reacting to them, but yeah the song choices could've been better, I knew you weren't gonna fully like the first three. If you ever are considering to react to N.FLYING in the future, I highly recommend "How Are U Today?"（this song got me into them) "Sunset" (my favourite song from their fly high project) and "Flower Fantasy"(a song made for an anti-suicide campaign). Their emotion-flooded vocals will blow you away, and they really do sing their hearts out! I've been to their concerts before, they have such good stage presence and incredible stamina. Thank you for the awesome reaction! You're one of my favorite reactors, so I really hope you'd react to them more.
Yeah the choices FNC made for some of their earlier MVs were... questionable. Especially Awesome, but a bit in Hot Potato with a random black guy acting as a prop in the background of Seunghyub’s rap. Tbh tho, after stanning this group for three years, I can say with CONFIDENCE that those choices most definitely don’t reflect the sensibilities and opinions of the group. It’s a shame FNC put them in there.
Jaehyun is my bias and yes he is a huge cutie. Also he has amazing stage presence, I watched some fancams from when they busked and his expressions and interactions with the audience is amazing. N. Flying in general have amazing stage presence. I was gonna explain the members situation but it looks like other people did that already :) also if you continue to watch more, a channel I recommend is SavyGuitar 2.0, she has really good videos and a really detailed and nice updated guide. They do a lot of great covers too if you have not already seen them.
Evreyone ends up loving Jaehyun in the end but wait til you see the cutie Dongsung. The never ending maknae position is honestly so funny.

I also wanted to add what I know about them. They officially debuted in 2015 but made an indie japanese debut in 2013. They have been through changes in lineup and have had three different maknaes. There is a ton of other stuff I am just not a good person at explaining stuff.
Oh and the music video really does not show his personality. Once while on a live someone said that they were being followed and he told the person to turn up their volume and he pretended to be their boyfriend on the phone with them.

For The Real, they were searching for a mermaid evident by the many pictures of mermaid's around the ship lol not sure why the portrayed a mermaid as a giant with no tail lmao but in the end it wasn't actually a women, it was a male rapper named Jang Moonbok that the new lead singer (the one with the higher pitched voice) had met on Produce 101 Season 2 lol I also feel like you were biased towards their earlier songs due to your discomfort with the videos which I totally understand, their debut music video is definitely sus. However, I assure you N.Flying is a group of respectful men. Seunghyub (the leader, deep voiced front man) even went viral for helping a fan out while he was on V-Live, an N.Fia had posted a comment saying she had been out drinking and was walking home alone and a man was following her. Seunghyub saw this comment and said for the N.Fia that posted the comment to take their headphones out and/or turn the volume up, he then proceeded to act as if he was her boyfriend on a video call waiting for her to reach a meeting point so that the man would stop following her and she ended up getting home safely. The music videos are definitely all directed by the company and while the boys have creative freedom on a lot of their songs they don't really contribute to music video directing ect.
Feel I should let you (and others) know that Seunghyub (the deeper tone singer/rapper) composed/co-composed two of the songs you liked in this video: Rooftop and E-yo. (Composers rarely get enough credit, so sad...). He is also credited for taking part in arranging for flowerwork, and he wrote/co-wrote lyrics for most of these songs (not the debut though).
If you (and others) like the vibes of the mentioned composed songs you really should check out the last three mini albums (the 5th "Spring Memories", 6th "Yaho"" and 7th "So 通 (소통)", released in 2019 and 2020), as Seunghyub took part in composing (and writing) for most of the songs on these albums. The other songs in this video after "hot potato" are also on these minis. (Based on your reaction I really think you will love these albums!).
Creative control is mostly limited to 2019 and 2020 though (still many great songs prior to this though). Seunghyup did not get to release any of his self-composed songs prior to 2019. He finally got to release his self-composed songs after his self-composed/written/arranged song Rooftop unexpectedly became n.flying's breakthrough hit.
Its and interesting story of how this happened. As the story goes… Rooftop was originally not planned to be released. Seunghyub made it and released on his soundcloud, featuring Hweseung (the other vocal), for fans to listen to. Fans loved it which led to n.flying playing the song live. Continuing positive response from fans then finally got them (FNC?) to release it. The song had little to no promition and got attention and started climbing the charts because of some netizens commenting on how good it was... (Fun story, but should not have to happen this way. Get a grip FNC).
Sidenote, n.flying are probably one of the most genuine and funny groups in k-pop. Personality wise they are my faves, and I am a multi stan (the bad boy concept does so not work).

There is an amazing song called still love you by Lee Hong ki and one of the singers from this group yoo hwe seung it is a must watch for sure. Lee Hong ki is also in a band called ftisland and he has an AMAZING voice, truly one of a kind. Hopefully you check them out soon!
I agree, that's one of the things I love with N. FLYING. They are really active while performing, you can sense that they are enjoying on stage. Plus the fact that they are actually talented, Hweseung's vocal together with Seughyub's raps (and growls), also Jaehyun's and Hun's instrument playing.

I highly recommend you checking out their live mashups (they’ve done a few!!!), their covers are super good (they did a Dua Lipa cover and they covered Aloha on Immortal Songs and it was AMAZING) and a few of my favorite songs that I think you’d like are Stand by Me, Delight, Starlight, Oh Really, and Doll!
I highly recommend checking out their K-pop medley and Anime & game medley. Also their cover of "Ye lai xiang" (immortal songs).

As many have already introduced the boys and talked about their genuine beings I will just recommend some songs, 1. It's fine (괜찮나), this is a song they made for a suicide prevention campaign and I find it precious, 2. Flower Fantasy, so this is like a response Seunghyub wanted to give to the people that told them how much "it's fine" helpped them. To add to this (I don't know if someone mentioned it 😅), yes, the boys wrote E-Yo for their fans (N.Fia) on Seunghyub's Winter Camp (a version of their mini variety show) Seunghyub asked the others to write some words for N.fia to then make it into a song, it has pretty lyrics, on the video they didn't know N.Fias had sent the fanchant so you can see their surprised smiles. After all this long "recommendation" 😅 I just want to thank your for taking the time to react to all these groups💕stay safe💙

Jaehyun, the drummer, is my bias and the most precious sunshine. The whole group is so adorable and hilarious, you can't help but fall for them once you get to know them more. They're real dorks and a bunch of weird ones but a fun group. Also like to add that their Japanese music is amazing and their covers. ( also like to add, during the Hot Potato era, the fandom literally had potatoes as their lightsticks lmaooo ) B Track sides are always the best too and probably more of your flavor. Favorite song from them is "Spring Memories" ; it has an M/V and literally bought that mini album because of how beautiful the songs were in that album.

I’ve always had SUCH a problem with the Awesome MV, and I’m so happy that FNC seems to have given them much more creative control since Rooftop, and their image has become much less offensive and insensitive in all aspects. It really doesn’t reflect how they view or approach women in real life, so I’m disappointed that that was her first exposure to them...
I think you'll definitley fall in love with them more~ N Flying literally started from the very bottom and have been around since 2013 but didnt get noticed until 2019, but they're so humble personality wise and literally humongous goof balls (very chaotic too haha) Also the drummer Jaehyun is a huge ball of sunshine.
They have plenty of songs that are like the ones you like, that probably majority of their discography. And lives always make all their songs better haha
MY BABIES !!!! like others have already said, they were definitely put on a bad concept for their debut.... their second comeback was GOLD. lonely is so amazing. On The Real, the mermaid was a dude from produce that hweseung was on ( i forget their name). In general, N.flying has AMAZING albums, all of their b-sides are seriously great i suggest you check more of them !! and i think the album the hottest is still one of my all time faves :) since you liked the drummer, jaehyun has a youtube channel w the guitarist chahun that's just so much fun, they are big dorks and the other members sometimes come there too :) all in all they are just the sweetest biggest dorks and they definitely deserve better !!!

N.Flying's drummer is an adorable sweet goofball. He's my favorite in this band because of his personality, though I have to admit, their vocalists, especially Hweseung, are outstanding.
You really-really have to check out the duet of Hweseung - N.Flying's front man, and HongKi - FT Island's front man. The song is called Still Love You, it's superb as far as songs are concerned but it's unfortunately has not been promoted by FNC in any way - the stupidest decision ever. A little bit of a dark time when Kwangjin the bassist was wrongly accused by the so called Fans.. It still angers me till these days how kwangjin and the boys must have suffered

But then we got Dongsung joined.. He really brings back the joy..
I was hurt a lot when Kwangjin has to left bcoz of those false accusations.. And getting hurt even worse on Wonho's case.. Bcoz i saw two of my fave persons got wronged..
Kwangjin decided to leave on late october 2018..and Wonho left literally on 31st October the next year.. I was hurt twice on my birth month..
Jaehyun-ie the Drummer is the sweetesssstttt and the Craziest.... He's the one who get me into this Band..
N.Flying's Autumn dream/Sunset/It's Okay (and a lot) are reallyyyyy great!!!
I got into N.Flying when they released Hot Potato and man that song was in my top 3 for 2018 and it was released in January.
It's just simple fun which we really need more of!
I haven't really enjoyed their stuff before that too much but everything that came after was just a straight up bop and they continuously release bomb albums as well.

i cant believe i only got to watch this two weeks later :000 you HAVE to watch their band covers especially QUEEN medley and red flavor where they collaborated with lyn :000
On the third MV. Hot Potato, a lot of things could really be misinterpreted if you base it lyrics-wise cos it might appear as haughty and some lyrics tends to give off that men superiority vibe, and I get you for having that "eh" cos u know they're kind of bragging and dreaming of being adored by women that it depicts women just falling for them but the concept was actually a little sad. The concept is actually a garage band hoping and dreaming to be one of the famous bands. If you rewatched it again, you will see scenes where they are dreaming of the things they want and that in reality their paparrazis and fans are just actuals fans. They're dreaming of rehearsing on a big stage when they're actually just on their garage. They're winning awards and hand printing on like those famous Hollywood artist thingy but on reality the drummer was actually force to thumbprint on an agreement for selling his liver for money. It really is sad knowing that they're really underrated. This song is like a big joke to themselves too. I appreciate the honest reactions though. I totally get what you're disappointed for. If I may you suggest, you should listen to It's Fine and Flower Fantasy which is all about Suicide Prevention and believe me their music really helps me. Flower Fantasy is my personal fave. wow I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND YOU, the same thing happened to me when I just met them, I wanted to see their first mvs and I disliked those misogynistic scenes and it was so ??? BUT I fell for them when I met them well and listened to their recent music, don't worry n.flying from 2017 onwards doesn't disappoint at all!! it's also because before they weren't allowed to participate in what they did, just in 2018 the company allowed them to compose their music and decide more what they do, and well in 2014-16 I think that stupid bad boy concept was trending, all of us hate the awesome mv 😭
the boys are very sweet people and they have grown a lot in every aspect, musically as well and you will see how they have great bops with pretty meanings!! I like a few of these, but they aren't even their best songs imo. My favorite N.Flying songs are Flower Fantasy, Sunset, Autumn Dream, Spring Memories, and Doll. It's a shame that they weren't recommended because I think you would love them. God, if only Flower Fantasy had been the first one on the playlist. Would have been goosebumps from the start.

i completely get the mv thing, especially with awesome. for the real and hot potato im more okay with because of the concept (fisherman going mermaid hunting and garage band thinking about stereotypical rockstar life) but yeah, awesome's mv just aint it for me lol. like you said, i would imagine that was down to fnc being trash (what's new) but nevertheless. and about the 2 year gap, im not 100% positive, but i do think fnc didnt give them a comeback for a whole two years, during which they did a little on their own in japan (they used to be active in japan before debuting with fnc i believe)
also, i dont watch pd101 but i heard that the guy that turned out to be the "mermaid" in the real mv was one of the dudes from it. cant verify that as i havent seen it, but since hweseung (vocalist that got sent as bait) was on pd101 it would make sense haha
personally, i almost always prefer n.flying's live performances. i really wish they could have a live album cause i want to have all their live versions on spotify rip
NFlying debuted as a 4 member in 2015 in SK, then Yoo Hwesung (lead vocalist) was added to the group on 2017 (Hwe debuted on their comeback song 'The Real'), unfortunately one of their member Kwangjin left the group because of some issue, NFlying remain 4 members until 2019, and added Dongsung as their bassist this 2020 and debuted as a part of the group on their comeback song 'Oh Really.' Rooftop is one of their hit song, it was released years ago but it become hit in SK last year (2019) and climb the #1 spot in the music chart, NFlying was awarded as Best Band of the Year 2019 on MMA. Been following this group for years and I want them to follow the path and achieve what their Sunbae's (CNBlue and FTIsland) achievement in music industry. N.Flying is a band I've been meaning to get into more but its kinda hard I dont even know why.
So far I've been intrigued the most by drummer guy. Normally I have the hugest soft spot for bassists which might or might not be because of that one really nice girl playing bass in my music academy but drummers are also very underappreciated.
The drummer pretty much is always what keeps the band together. I once played in an ensemble with a bad percussionist and it was not fun at all so biggest respect to every drummer out there like drumming is a full body work out.
I might check out more of their songs soon
Their drummer is Jaehyun! He is fantastic, and such a sweetheart. He’s definitely the sunshine of the group. Seunghyub is sort of the glue holding them all together, as the leader and oldest (rapper). They’ve been through 2 bassists so far, and their current is Dongsung, who is an absolute darling!

Not sure if anyone mentioned this... (i'm 2 years late to this reaction video) the 'mermaid' at the end of the The Real is actually a man (that's his real hair) and Hweseung's fellow participant from Producer 101 S2. I thought it is the same girl from AOA (the waitress in Awesome MV) for the longest time. FNC sent Hweseung to Producer 101 for exposure, while also preparing his debut with N.Flying.
Hweseung joined N.Flying after N.Flying has been on 2 years hiatus which Seunghyub said was very hard on the members (the original bassist and drummer trained for 10 years each and the guitarist and leader trained for 5 years each, all in FNC), their debut tanked, they didn't know what is the N.Flying's 'colour', so Seunghyub threw himself into composing. It didn't helped that their seniors, FT Island and CNBlue were very successful and popular when they debut. Their debut 'Awesome' era was definitely manufactured by FNC.

Strongly suggest the live version of Awesome that they have up on their channel. Not only does it not have the f.boy vibes of the mv but it also has the addition of Hweseung which really balances out the song imo

It would be fun to do a k-band series haha. Obvs there are the ones promoted more like idols vs the more indie ones but still think you'd enjoy! FNC really were the ones doing bands back in the day with FT Island and CN Blue and then N.Flying. I think you'd enjoy the differences in the sound styles and concepts between all of the bands (those aforementioned + The Rose, Onewe, and more). I know you've done reactions to some I mentioned before already but just thought it might be fun for you :)
