Those of us who were around in the early to mid 1980s will remember many of the distinct features that show up in this Sevensational Promo. The aerial shots are amazing, and among them you can see what Melbourne looked like before the Collins Towers and Nauru House were surrounded by many other tall buildings, the vacant parklands which used to exist before the Tennis Center, Hisense Arena, and AAMI Park had been built, and also what the MCG looked like before the light towers had been installed and when it still had all of its previous grandstands.

I was there, but have been living overseas since. I really miss the Melbourne of the 80s. The skyline has changed dramatically, and not for the better IMHO. Now it's just a cluttered mess of crazy lights and sensory overload that connotes "Las Vegas Down Under". It's quite sad really.

Don't think we had this one in Sydney, can't remember. Sounds very catchy.

This one had some Melbourne specific animations.
I used to edit many of the HSV 7 Station ID's in the 80's and I think this "Sevensational" series was produced by the Melbourne Promo chief of the time, John Slater.
The animated arts centre spire and Flinders Street station effects were either done by a US company, who supplied many animation elements to TV stations around the world, alternatively it might have been done by a young Australian software & special effects chap called Gary Tregaskis, who went on to invent the world famous film compositing and effects package "Flame".
I do remember Gary coming to our Melbourne offices for a meeting, but can't remember if it was this sequence or another text only sequence.

Sydney was using the 1982 NBC Jingle "Just Watch Us Now" so that's the reason why this jingle is exclusive in Melbourne...
