Hello! Your tutorials are amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.I was wondering if you have a tutorial that explains how to create this layout you have created. Its stunning.
Great tricks. Please help! An interactive scroll bar was created in another video does it work only if you publish it online on a website or does it work once it's created as a downloadable PDF file?
Your videos have been so helpful! Thank you!! I do have a question - I finally was able to upload my epub to my Wordpress site but cannot figure out how to put it on a page for people to open and read. Is this impossible?
Hi Angelo, I too am grateful for your videos as they have gotten me through this project. However I am stumped, I watched your 'adding sound' which i total get, but I'm trying to figure out how to have it play in a loop over the whole 24 pg doc (.indd pub online) can't seem to find the answer
Hey Meridith! Thanks for watching and learning! :) As far as I know, it's not possible to navigate through pages for Publish Online while having the sound play throughout. I know that was a PDF Interactive feature, but I don't believe it translates to online. When you place your audio on the page, go to Window > Interactive > Media. In the Media panel (with the audio clicked on the page) you will see some options there to Play on Page Load and Stop on Page Turn. The latter was set for those that didn't want sound to play past that page. But again, that was meant for PDF Interactive.
Hi, is there anything that you would update with this tutorial for 2024, I working toward creating a digital magazine, would you still use the same presets? Thanks for your help.
Hi Kimberly! This video is a great starting point. Nothing has changed in terms of tools used. Once you get comfortable with this video, check out my other tutorials to advance your digital publishing skills! Thanks!
Hey there! You can use InDesign's Publish Online feature, which will host the work on an Adobe server. However you can embed the work into websites with the embed code provided. Hope that helps!
Thank you Angelo. If I may ask you one question. When designing an ebook in InDesign, are there any design limitations/concerns you need to consider? I know there are different readers, and if ebook readers are like web browsers, each one renders a page differently, and so what is the best way to proceed to ensure that the book/page you design can be viewed as intended on each reader? Thanks.
Hey there. Thanks for the question. I would just say always consider what the purpose of the design is and what platform/device it'll primarily be viewed on. As long as you create with exact dimensions in mind, you should be fine!
Great tutorial! Is the 1024 x 729 resolution chosen bc it performs well across most EPUB readers? Is there a reason to not go to higher resolutions for "pro" hardware users? I'm curious if the lower resolution appears pixelated on higher resolution viewers
Hello and thanks Joshua! The recommended display dimensions for EPUB readers is 1024 x 768, but you could certainly go up from there. Just remember to export as an EPUB (Fixed Layout) for best quality.
Thank you so much for making this video. However, may i ask about converting this document into pdf format? and then can i open this in my laptop or android mobile phone?

Hi Angelo, is it possible to roll over the button for a text box (state) to appear but it disappears when the cursor moves off the button? Thanks for your tutorial and help.
Hey Rya! Adobe creates a custom link through the Creative Cloud services. So it'll only work if you're subscribed. Once it's published, you can embed the project to your own site. The work will live on that Adobe site so long as you're a subscriber.
Hey there! Most Flipbook sites can support interactivity within the uploaded PDFs, but you won't be able to have animation. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
@@iamstonesteel - The most common EPUB reader for Windows would be Adobe Digital Editions, but there are certainly others. As for how to publish online, this can be done by going to File > Publish Online or simply clicking on the Publish Online button in the upper right hand corner of the workspace. It will upload to an Adobe-hosted site and from there you can share the link with clients or even use an embed code to publish the EPUB right to a website. Hope this helps!

Is there a solution to fix this problem so the pictures cannot be taken ? Thank you very much in advance:)
That's a great question and one that I never really thought about. I guess as a photographer you want to protect your images, right? I don't see a setting that restricts people from downloading high-res images from an ePUB, but if I come across anything I will let you know. Thanks!
@@AngeloMontilla Thank you very much for your answer. Yes exactly some of the pictures in it, I can only sale on limited edition (30 prints), so that's why I cannot unfortunately do an ePub version of the magazine if people can download high-res images from it.

what needs to be set up at the web hosting outfit for the magazine to appear properly on a website? I don't yet understand how to publish a magazine online. Can anyone help?
Hey Mi. Do you mean adding the project to your own site? The simple way is using the Publish Online tool built into InDesign and then embedding the code to your site. Now if you want to have a specific URL to the project and host it directly on your site, you'll have to export as an HTML and then use a program like dreamweaver or similar to develop the final product. It's more complex and if you don't know how to program, you'll have to find someone that does. I really hope that answers your question. Best of luck.
Angeeeelloo.. I did the animation and installed Adobe Digital Editions, and open the file in it, but still, image is not animating. Please help. Thanks much,

Hey Tiger. I have covered that topic many times. Go to File > Export and choose EPub (Fixed Layout). Open the epub file in an e-reader of your choice. Thanks for the question!

I usually publish my interactive work online, screen record it and turn it into a GIF for social media. Email me at amontilla81@gmail.com if you need further assistance.
Good question. Unfortunately a lot of the interactively you see in this tutorial won't work for PDF. But I will have a tutorial soon on what you can do for interactive PDF. Stay tuned.
I have a question. Do you use Indesign digital publishing for hosting all of your magazines? I'm trying to figure out if Issuu is worth the money over Indesign Publishing. Thanks!
Hey there. You can publish and host using Adobe's Publish Online feature. You can embed the published work on other websites as well. Issuu is great, but you have to create the interactivity on their platform as the Id interactivity does not carry over when you upload. I guess it's personal preference for you.

I usually publish my interactive work online, screen record it and turn it into a GIF for social media. Email me at amontilla81@gmail.com if you need further assistance.
Is it possible to export the same interactivity to PDF files instead?
Good question. Unfortunately a lot of the interactively you see in this tutorial won't work for PDF. But I will have a tutorial soon on what you can do for interactive PDF. Stay tuned.
I just find this tutorial for PDF Files ruclips.net/video/UGTbcqUMJcI/видео.html
link doesnt work for me. how to fix it?
I have a question. Do you use Indesign digital publishing for hosting all of your magazines? I'm trying to figure out if Issuu is worth the money over Indesign Publishing. Thanks!
Hey there. You can publish and host using Adobe's Publish Online feature. You can embed the published work on other websites as well. Issuu is great, but you have to create the interactivity on their platform as the Id interactivity does not carry over when you upload. I guess it's personal preference for you.
When i added animations but my assignment is to export in pdf and i just realised the animations cant work :(
nicole tan That’s correct. Animation only works for ePub or Publish online. Why don’t you publish online and share the link? That will work for you.
Angelo Montilla thanks for the tip!
I see you Nicole! And I’m about to try this out too! Sadly the assignment criteria is pdf interactions only :(
