Dear Miriã. Many thanks for your another very nice comment. Thank you kindly for that. I think it is called a "flat washer". I had couple of them in different sizes at home, so i picked the one where cord was possible to put through, but not so easily. I would like to apologize to you for my later response. I was without my PC almost 3 days and had very limited access to internet on mobile phone too. Have a nice day and take care. Best regards, Andrej

Dear Andrej, thank you so much for taking your time to reply to my message, I appreciate your return and it helped me as I never heard of “flat washers” but I’ve searched on eBay and I can order some when I need. Thanks again and have a lovely Christmas ❤

@@mirian593 Dear Miriã. I'm really happy you replied. In fact you are the first one who ever replied in the comment on my channel. Many thanks to you 🙂. Those so called "flat washers", if that is best term for it, can be found for sure in almost any ordinary hardware stores (for example in Lowe's Home Improvement, or OBI, or BauMax and similar). The price for it is usually only few cents. Dear Miriã, thanks a lot also for nice Christmas wishes. I also wish to you and your family really nice and peaceful Christmas. Take care and good luck to you also in the new year. Best Regards and greetings from Slovakia.

Hi Karlo. Thank you for the comment and the question. You can try to turn on the subtitles. I should have let viewers know there are subtitles where a lot of things are explained. The material for soles is some very old leather belt - driver belt for some historical machine. I'm not convinced something like that can be bought nowadays in some shop. I bought it from one lady from eastern Slovakia. I believe it is a leather from bull. So some kind of leather, depending on what you can find or what thickness you prefer might serve well. In my other video i used the shoemakers rubber. Leather is however for myself more comfortable, but also more slippery too...

how do you handle the deep cuts between the toes, any suggestions? i used paracord as well only thing thats bad is the cuts.

Hi @basilbruder7203. I personally prefer 6 mm thick so called Prusik cord instead classic paracord 550. In principle when I feel something uncomfortable then it is in my case mostly the heels area - because one of the cords "level" is usually fasten too tight. Between toes I leave them a bit loose... that area is usually not doing much troubles to me. Between the toes it does not have to be fasten too tight. I hope when you will try e.g. 6 mm cord. Probably the best is the cord made from poly-amide and when you will try to tie it couple of times then hopefully you will find what works best for you. In this video is not shown the tying process, but in some others I'm showing how it is best for me to start the tying process. Good luck, my friend. Greetings from Slovakia.

Hi Basil. Thanks a lot for your reply. I'm sorry to hear that. You know, I'm not really running much. I prefer backpacking. In the video I made couple of years ago I'm showing huaraches made from shoe-makers rubber. In those if I walked 3-4 km. Was just fine. But if more... 7-8 km or more, then I had blisters. Leather huaraches are definitely more slippery, indeed. But it is more pleasant on the feet. In those I could walk more without blisters. Couple of times I did 10 km and all was OK. In 2017 and 2018 I was doing a lot of backpacking partially in valleys, but also in the mountains. Doing often 30, 40, or even 50 km per day (with backpack weighing 10 to 20 kg). Couple of times it was cca 54 km. More not. Usually whatever I had on my feet after roughly 30 - 35 km started real problems with blisters. In principle best for me is wearing a kind of trekking sandals, as my feet sweat quite a lot in any shoes. Honestly in huaraches I never walked so much.

Where can we find leather like this online?

Hello Victor. Thanks a lot for your comment and question.
I bought it from one lady from eastern Slovakia. In past it served as drive belt for some historical machine. I believe this leather originates from bull. The thickness is 5 to 7 mm. Couple of years ago i made couple of huaraches from rubber. But i always wanted to try also something like this. Feeling is a bit different, but any material has certain advantages and disadvantages. So look for some historical drive belt on flee market or similar.
