Follow the signs from the Car Park for the Scenic Walk. Walking along by the river banks through a woodland teeming with life.. Look out for the money tree full of old coins. Can you spot the Exmoor Ponies?
The Tarr Steps are a clapper bridge across the River Barle,. It’s estimated that the steps were laid between 1400 and 1600, although the earliest written mention of them was in 1644 during the
English Civil War. According to an old story, the Tarr Steps were created by the Devil as part of a bet with a giant who lived in the area.
The money tree is a fallen tree trunk filled with coins. Nobody really knows when this custom
started, but some of the coins are really old. There are lots of stories available about how it came to be.
