🤔 are there free versions of her speaking her books
Her voice, her mannerisms, the content of her words--all so deliberate, all so soulful
She handles Mr Mediocrity with much grace. RIP Beautiful Soul!
Toni Morrison is a prescient, ultra intelligent, national treasure.
She absolutely was.
It is not cowardice; it's malevolence! Love you Toni.
And it's still cowardice
This is dialogue so appropriate at this time. I love her.
I care barely handle Rose, he's so jealous, left his career in shambles & shame .... but Ms Morrison ..a titan, a genius, forever remembered for her greatness.
Rest in Power Toni Morrison

Such an insensitive interviewer. In all the interviews she conceded him he embarrassed me. So many intelligent people who could have done a decent job. I could list several insulting questions in each of these interviews but they’re so distasteful. She deserved more.
She and Charlie Rose were the best of friends and she considered him a close confidant. Some of his comments may appear insensitive, but their friendship was valued and he was in her inner circle for many years.
I do not detect any insensitivity. Where is it in the interview?
What are you talking about, they had the abundant respect for each other and where great friends. He interviewed her many times because he wanted too,and respected her work.
Respectfully, if you have seen all the interviews of the 2 of them, you mustve seen the ending of the one from 2003, where Charlie is practically speechless and can only say "I adore you". I'm no Charlie apologist but these two had rapport with each other and Charlie certainly had a deep respect for everything about her.
At 23.15 she mentions "sydney rochey" ? Who does she refer to?
Question! Who is interviewing her here? When did this interview take place? Thanks.
Grace Cochrane his name is Charlie Rose
Says 2015 but she said the book she wrote for 2000s-2007
at 14:30 she says something like going to the 92nd street "why"? i don't get what she means. can someone pls help me understand?
The 92nd Street Y is a place in New York City that puts on events and lectures featuring a wide variety of people.
@@ManufacturingIntellect thanks!!

The training is not the problem. Believe me. If I was a police officer without any training whatsoever, I’d do a better job. Why? Because I’m humane. If a police 👮♂️officer helps and protects citizens, they will not be afraid of their lives because the society will protect them. There’s something like personal discretion. A guy drives fast and gets pulled over by a cop, the cop finds out why ? And just shows a bit of understanding. Citizens must not lie to police officers. It’s necessary for citizens to also be able to accept responsibility for their actions. NOT ONLY THE POLICE NEED TO CHANGE BUT CITIZENS AS WELL.
Some cringeworthy questions from this guy ... at 28:00 'he laughs.... then says , 'because you are ... accomplished...' actually mister, she, on the world stage of literature, is highly fucking accomplished !
She and Charlie Rose were the best of friends and incredibly close. While some of his comments come off as insensitive, he knew her well and Ms. Morrison considered him a close confidant. He always said his biggest regret is when she invited him to be one of her guests when she won the Nobel Prize and he declined for another engagement. They used to laugh about that so much because he said it was the dumbest mistake he ever made.
He laughs because the word accomplished doesn’t even come close to describing the monumental talent that Toni Morrison is… he is laughing at how words can be so limiting.
What is my cellophane name?
Charlie Rose pretending, yet again, to be "interested" in how young black men could be "caught up" in the judicial process being from North Carolina (Ca veut dire, " witnessing American apartheid firsthand his entire life). Okay, ca va.
Aside from this commentary, I still cannot believe that Toni Morrison is no longer with us in the flesh. Of course she lives within me in the present tense as a literary, visual, and cultural critic of African and African diasporic cultures in the Americas. I'll take her advice, "Move it out; it is not always about you" ( 9:40-10:12 ) !
24:50 👏 👏 👏 I just want to be alphabetised 👏 👏 👏
Why not , The God help the child instead of ,God help the child.
I love her... I follow her work with great respect, but I don't agree with the police training or even military training. #abolition
22:25 'all the good people have been born' 🤔 💭 🤔 💭 🤔
not true: look to children to start; look to the youth
🤔 what a closed thing for Jimmy Baldwin's mother to say 🤔 💭 🤔
Physics Phyliss, Wheatly,
Did your sons death affect your writing? This was a very distasteful question. Of corse it affected HER! So I thought common sense would tell us, that yeah her writing was affected as well, whatever that means. Like is he trying to ask what's the difference in her writing styles pre death and after or what. Don't trivialize the grief process or the creative process. Like all these years of reading her books and interviewing her, and you still cannot comprehend.
Grandma grade wisdom, nothing remarkable about this woman at all.
Clearly you’ve not read her work. Only a philistine would make such a comment
@@iangalbraith1993 do you have a rocking chair on a porch as well ian? Is that where you get your deep wisdom
@@thomaswolf2233 That you think so little of grandma grade wisdom says a whole lot about your false sense of superiority.
@@ryn2774 One cannot have a false sense or a correct one, the sense phenomena is subjective by definition. Here's a tip Ryn, the less you speak the less people will know of your stupidity - and it will be less boring for us all.
Omg...you must be crazy.
