    I am diabetic, and I used to drink 2% milk almost exclusively. Over the past few years, I have switched to full fat milk, and my A1C has dramatically improved. I'm not stating that this is due to full fat milk, but it has come to my attention that foods rich in fat, protein and/or fiber slow the absorption of sugar in the blood, and I believe this to be true.

    I’m a 62 year old man. I consume organic, full fat non homogenised cows milk. About as natural as it gets, apart from human milk and I’m too old for that. I’ve witnessed friends and family consume full fat, semi skimmed and fully skimmed milk. It is completely the case that the heaviest people consume the skimmed milk and the slimmest people consume full fat milk. I don’t comment but curiously observe. In supermarkets you will find that often people have semi skimmed or fully skimmed milk in their shopping trolleys along with bottles of wine, beer, pizza, crisps and other highly processed foods. People kid themselves, they fool only themselves, it’s ticking an easy box. Eat less, move more. I enjoy a beer occasionally. Normally you convey common sense, but not here, IMO

    The difference between skimmed and full fat milk is 60 cal per 200ml (glass of milk). Carbs/sugars are pretty much the same. I guess it really doesn't matter, unless you drink some ungodly amounts of milk (which you probably shouldn't) or you are on some very specific diet. And the way the fat in milk is reduced is through centrifuge. It's separated into skimmed milk and cream, so if skimmed milk is "unnatural", so is the cream. In fact, if you drink glass of 0.1% fat milk and eat one tablespoon of double cream, you get the same nutritional value as a glass of whole milk.

If anything, my parents wanted me and my brothers to bulk up off of whole milk lol. But I'm in great shape till this day and the only milk I ever drink is whole milk. Fills me up for a while too leading me to not eat as much for those who are concerned about weight gain. 3:37 Bro, they do that with all the milk types, even the whole milk gets manipulated in some ways. That alone isn't much of a reason. If you want it EXACTLY the way it is, you need some organic whole milk or something. Also, I think it's all about how much you drink. If you drink one glass a day, whole milk is fine, but if you drink two, three or more, I would suggest getting one with less fat.

I don’t care to consume full fat because that’s still not a very high percentage on the shelf it’s like a bit more than 3 % whereas thats not much worse than 1 or 2 % for me to worry about as I don’t consume much of it. Whipping cream and ice cream and butter should probably be consumed sparingly as well as cream cheese and stuff and coffee cream is perhaps not the best (some of them) but whether the fat is healthy or not it isn’t the highest fat dairy by a mile

Either make it abundantly clear that whole milk is processed less, and as such the better choice. And make it very clear that any other milk than whole contains either sugar or artificial sweeteners to enhance flavour, both of which are bad.
      I cannot agree with your video since you are way too vague. Make a clear and obvious statement instead of that half-baked mumbo-jumbo.

  • @palimac
    @palimac 3 года назад +12

    I have been told by my diet doctor to avoid low fat dairy products at all costs. There are many advantages to whole milk:
    1. Vitamins A and D (among others) are fat soluble. Without fat the body does not absorb these vitamins.
    2. Whole milk contains omega-3 fats, especially if grass fed. Which is good, not bad
    3. Whole milk contains natural proteins and calcium
    4. By removing the fat you remove most of the nutrients nature put there; adding them back is a chemical process, which is even worse than GMO
    5. There is no correlation between saturated fats and cardiac diseases. The research done provides no empirical proof of this, worse, ther is an assumed correlation which recent reserach has disproven
    6. Skimmed milk often contains sugars or artificial sweeteners such as aspartame. An excess of Sugar has been linked to multiple health issues such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease which is deadly, and more difficult of a habit to break than alcohol. Aspartame and similar products are linked to an increase of cancer.
    7. Whole milk does not make you fat, in fact skimmed milk does despite there is no fat in it since the added carbohydrates are turned into fat by the liver.
    Can you please provide a more accurate video? That means debunking the myths of low fat dairy and promoting full fat dairy. Or are you paid off by the food industry? WHOLD DAIRY is the only correct way to go, please read recent research, your title as a doctor may depend on it.

    • @mlue618
      @mlue618 2 года назад +1

      Lmao, it’s almost funny how wrong you are about this. You’re spreading such misinformation..
      1. Yes Vitamins A and D need fat to be absorbed, but you can easily pair a glass of milk with another food that contains healthy fats, such as almonds.
      2. Yes whole milk does have omega 3 fatty acids, but the benefit is pretty outweighed by all of the saturated fat in whole milk.
      3. Skim milk also contains natural proteins, and even a little more calcium.
      4. Some of the vitamins A and D are lost during the fat removal process, but they are added back. “Adding them back is a chemical process, which is even worse than GMO.” That statement, hell no, are you at least a little smart? Have you ever heard of supplements? That’s basically what’s being added into the milk.
      5. I- Where did you even get your research from???? There is a correlation between saturated fats and heart disease, and this link has been proven time and time again. It has not been disproven.
      6. Yeah, skimmed milk sometimes contains sugars to make up for the flavor, but does anyone really lack the ability to check the nutrition label??? NAFLD is almost never a deadly disease. Only if it’s not treated, it could lead to complications. Sugar is not more addictive than alcohol. How many sugar “addicts” have you heard about compared to alcoholics? Research has shown no consistent connection between aspartame and cancer.
      7. You know- I don’t know about this one. It does matter where the calories are coming from, but in the end, it doesn’t matter if an energy source is protein, carb, or fat, if the body needs energy, it’s going to metabolize it into glucose/a calorie. Whole milk actually provides basically the same amount of carbs as skim milk. And it has less fat, in turn, less calories. If consumed in relative moderation, neither of these will make you gain weight.

    • @loisnyke
      @loisnyke Год назад

      You are the one spreading misinformation. You really really need to educate yourself. There is absolutely no correlation between dietary fats of any kind and blood fats let alone heart diseases. The root cause of all metabolic diseases which cardiovascular issues is one of them is inflammation brought about by SUGAR in all its forms - dextrose, maltose, sucrose, fructose, and yes, even fructose found in fruits, high fructose corn syrup, sucralose, etc.
      And yes, NAFLD is a deadly disease because it graduates from stage 1 to stage 2, then to stage 3 which is cirrhosis and eventually death of the liver, then you either get a liver transplant or face the inevitable.
      This fat phobia started as a result of a falsified study done by Ancel Keys that started the movement against saturated fats. Same saturated fats our ancestors have lived on for centuries and never had any form of the modern day illnesses we see all over the world today. Once the falsified study took a stronghold in the mainstream media, man began to alter foods that gave us all things low fats.
      When you remove fats from food to alter it, the food basically tastes like cardboard and to compensate for taste, we add sugar, which is a practise that has brought us to the obesity rate we have in today's world with its attendant problems like obesity, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, NAFLD, hormonal imbalances, high blood pressure, etc.
      For more information, take an in-depth look into the Seven Countries Study by Ancel Keys and all the lies surrounding it.
      In conclusion, eat foods in their natural forms like our ancestors did and you will have no issues. Stop altering foods and adding nasty chemical components and try to justify it with some bro science.

    • @loisnyke
      @loisnyke Год назад +1

      And when I said dietary fats, I am referring to healthy naturally occurring fats like butter, whole milk, avocado, nuts, fats from fish and meats etc, and not vegetable oils like Canola oil, soybean oil, etc.
      All vegetable oils are the artery clogging, not fit for human consumption oils manufactured with petroleum byproducts like hexane and put under extreme heat to extract the oils from the seeds. Watch some documentaries on their extraction process and you'll realise how the food industry have been poisoning us for decades.
      If you love your health, the two most dangerous ingredients to remove or avoid in your diet are SUGAR and VEGETABLE OILS.
      Sadly, a large percentage of the foods we see on the aisles are often made with these.

    Would like to just point out that saturated fats are not inherently bad for you and is one of the health industries biggest myths.

      You can tell how healthy you are via skin quality and stool. Animal foods win this war on my territory. Sad truth, I hoped it would be the other way around but God has other plans.

    In conclusions, our scientific background is limited. Nobody has 100% of information about things. So let’s drink the whole milk! 🤣

      I loathe skim milk, may as well drink water.
      We only use full cream milk organic for coffee and tea.
      I think skim milk is highly processed too.

    Coconut milk is a better alternative.

    • @palimac
      @palimac 3 года назад +11

      Coconut milk is not milk. Period. It's essentially water with some flavourings from the coconut added, but has minimal nutritional value.
      Contents of coconut milk (100 ml)
      169 calories.
      1.1g protein.
      16.9g fat (14.6g saturated fat)
      3.3g carbohydrate.
      Contents of whole milk (100 ml) Jersey Milk
      62 kcal
      3.3 g. Protein
      3.5g Fat (2g Saturated)
      4.4g Carbohydrate
      From the above you can see that whole milk contains 3 times as much protein. In addition it has less than 1/5th of the fat (and notably 1/7th of saturated fats). In addition, coconut milk does not contain any vitamins on minerals to speak of, while whole milk contains vitamins A, D, B12 and calcium.
      So stop the lie about coconut water (so-called milk) and other vegetable forms. They are a lie. You actually get more body fat from coconut milk than real whole dairy milk. There are some advantages from drinking coconut water/milk, but these can be achieved by just drinking tap water as well. In reality, a litre of mineral water will provide you with more than a litre of coconut water/milk, and in some regions even tap water is better.

    Skimmed is better if you wanna lose fat simple as that. It's alot less calories end of story.
    Fatloss is calories in and out its so damn simple eat foods that fill you up with low calories 😉

    • @drstevenhulme
      @drstevenhulme  Год назад +3

      This actually has no scientific backing. Skimmed milk will spike your blood sugar more (due to less fat being able to slow down the sugar getting to the blood) which then will store it as fat. This is why full fat milk will actually help you to lose weight more than skimmed.
