If you’re celebrity, don’t publicize your movements when traveling, especially in real time on social media. Hire armed security to escort you if you’re in an unfamiliar area. Simple.
That goes for anyplace. Celebrity brings out the wolves
Really is that simple
Well immigrants claim they moral. So they have nothing to worry about
If you're *not* a celebrity, don't post your movements publicly, tf? Folks do that shit so much, and I do not understand it.
That s gonna be hard cause if you don't post in social media people will assume you are there as a possibility

This is true. My dad died in Nigeria this summer and everyone told me to stay home. They said it’s not safe for them or me to come.
Damn! Sorry for your loss!
Oh no. Soo sorry for your loss 🙏🏽
Sorry for your loss
Did he die or was he murdered. Dying could be of a illness.
Damn, stay around white folks and you'll be alright.
I’m 100% Nigerian and I go back pretty often, and I’m goin to tell you, you have nothin to be worried about. Don’t let the comment section make you scared of your own ppl
Off the top of my head, Jidenna and Yvonne Orji both publicised their visits to Nigeria and nothing happened to them. These things get exaggerated at times. However, right is not the best time to come, we're having drama with fuel (I think Americans call it gas) scarcity and a recent change in currency is causing a lot of chaos. Both seem to be tied to the upcoming elections, so probably wait until after the elections and just travel with people that know the country well and can help you navigate.
Good advice. Never visit around elections!
But Jidenna has said the same thing. He took it a step further saying because he is light skin he's more of a target because they believe lighter skin blacks have money.
@Jason Wolfe He had experienced a kidnapping incident in the past, I think before he was famous. The last time he visited Nigeria he was safe in the big cities like Lagos. I think it was when he was travelling to his village that he had to use armed security personnel
Don't start the comment by saying it's exaggerated just say yes I agree this isn't the right time
@@rwchitown5570 We have this joke saying over here that says 'No be you go tell me wetin I go talk'. But on a serious note the reports of kidnapping in Nigeria are greatly over exagerrated. I can bodly beat my chest that no 'famous' person coming to Nigeria as ever been kidnapped. The election warning has nothing to do with kidnapping. Its are just that things are a bit more chaotic right now than usual and wouldn't be a good time to come. Boys are not smiling.
Nigerians love their famous sons and daughters. You are safe in Nigeria. You are safe in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Calabar or any other place in the country. Get with one of the famous and reputable entertainment agents in Nigeria and do a show in Lagos or Abuja. Just like in any other country, you have to be careful but not fearful. Once you go back to Nigeria, you will always return. Nigerians love you bro. Come back home !
Yes. It's always wise to hire security and a driver though.
@@selinamaduforo622 and a very good witch Dr

As a fellow Nigerian, it’s ok to go home. Your people will embrace you with the purest love. You’ll be loved as Tchalla. Your uncle is the legendary Sunny Okosun and you’re discouraged not to go back home. I grew up on your uncles music, RIP to him. But this segment is somewhat bullshit because everyone basically is saying don’t go. In my opinion that’s saying don’t go to O’Block, but people still go to Chicago. You’re promoting a whole country in a negative light. I now stay in America, but when I go back home I stayed for as long as 4 months. Although you’re famous but you’ll be safe. Your people will bother you with request, it’s only because they have a famous relative in America, which they take too much pride of and can sometimes be bothering, it’s meant with love.
Most people will be welcoming and pleasant. Then there are the 2% that are ALWAYS plotting and scheming. It only takes one to mess it up for everyone else.
Lol okay bro

I went to Nigeria 20 years ago. I had a police escort everywhere I went. It was boring as hell. My cousins was mad as hell because I couldn't go anywhere. Keep in mind I was a 26-year very successful drug dealer from Detroit at the time. My dad lived in a gated community, and all I did was walk around in circles. Drove me crazy. One day, some dudes claimed that someone had a gun. It had to be about 30 people running away from the "gun" I started running towards the "gun." I never found the guy with the gun or the dude that lied about the gun. Either one of them would have been the shit in my eyes at the time. To make a long story short. I had a good time seeing family I only heard about. When I was leaving, my family asked me for every thing I had. They didn't know what the designers were. I gave away prada shoes, dolce, Gucci sport watch. My luggage only had socks and draws. Then I get to the airport and security pulled me out of line. Told me I'm not leaving unless I pay them. I literally had socks and draws and $50 American. Some male guard took that. I thought I was good. Next thing you know, a woman said she was the chief bla bla something, and I had to give her something too. I turned my pockets inside out and told her how my family got my for all my money and clothes. The other "boss" hit me for my last $50. She said ok, she then said when you get home. Send me some Rogaine for women. Gave me her information. I bought the Rogaine but lost the info.
End of story.
I plan on going this December to surprise my dad. He's been talking shit for over 20 years on why I haven't been back.
Wow, amazing story. I think the drug dealer part is more interesting that everything else, loved the testimony.
@Kevin Settle the funny thing is, my father didn't know I sold drugs. I had a construction company as a front. I would take him and my mother to houses that was being worked on and tell them it was my job. I did try to start a company before I sold drugs. Ironically, I actually do construction for a living now. My parents didn't have a clue of my past. Lol
Lol they all want to act like they are in charge and they are the ‘boss’ and when they get caught doing wrong they act like children that’s why the MFs that are actually in charge are so corrupt
@@meirisrael1728 You've got a very bankable story. I would love to talk to you about it.
It was boring because you should of relaxed a little and moved around with your cousins. Not surprised you didn't go back for such a long time though (the experience can be traumatising losing all your stuff). They would have taken the shoes off your feet if you let them. Lol. I've had ppl try me at the airport. Never gave them anything. Talked my way or shouted my way out of it. Lol. Hopefully I can go to Naija in the near future myself.
4 years ago I was speaking to a guy from Nigeria and he told me HIS own family TRIED to set up a kidnapping of him when he arrived in Nigeria because he was posting pictures of nice cars and money on his FB. @@kingc1198 A lot of those Haitians in America haven't been to Haitia since the arrived in the US, if ever. They're only repeating what they've heard. Last time I went out was 2021 in April. December everyone leaves the big city for their hometime and oil prices go up but its still good to see family. Kidnapping did happen but it was people who were wealthy, showing out, and political leaders. I drive cars older than 2005 when I go without armed security and I chill with the locals. I don't fear much when i go home outside of getting sick. Other than that Nigeria is good to visit.
My mother goes to Nigeria about every other year or so, but she knows how to move through Nigeria. I'm like Godfrey, I haven't been there in over 20 years, but I also lived in Nigeria in my teens, so I already know they'll eat me alive lol.
If you don't know how to move through Nigeria, especially during election time, you're a fool to be heading over there. The fact that Godfrey doesn't even know that there's an election going on is proof that he shouldn't be going at the moment. I do think his family should be able to take care of him, especially if he's related to wealthy and powerful people like that, but even then, it's not something he should be hyping too much.

I went in December and came back in January. Loved every minute. Will be going again next year. Block is always hot. I’m not popular so. Maybe Godfrey might get snatched. Should move with bodyguards over there…I think.
This is blown way over the top!! Nigeria ain’t that bad, if you’re staying in the major cities, but of course you will look like a shiny Christmas tree if you pulled up in a village lol
Nah on a serious note, I sense a bit of propaganda here, it’s not that deep and surely a guy like Godwin will be able to afford a couple armed police escorts to follow up everywhere or to public events👮🏾♂️
Don’t let them deter you, and I promise you when you go there, and you’ve experienced the beautiful weather, food and culture, you will not want to return to the states for anything other than your income. Lagos city is the best!
I bet some of these folks in that studio, besides Godfrey, never been to Nigeria let alone Africa.
It’s not that deep, reach out to a few people you’re cool with over there and they’ll line up everything for you. Cardi B went she’s mad famous, she was fine, Chris brown went he was fine, Da baby went he was fine.
It’s not comparable. People who are foreigners are treated well. Once it’s known that you have family there, it’s a different story. Most of us who, like Godfrey, are first-generation Americans whose parents are Nigerian, know that these warnings are true and that the threat of kidnapping is much higher for us than for those who are not Nigerian. It’s very sad that things are such that it’s hard to go home and see family. It’s not impossible and you have to take precautions, but it’s a reality. 😐
THEY CONSIDER GODFREY AS A TRAITOR... NOT UP FOR DISCUSSION
The fact that you know basketmouth.. means you are safe. And you are sunny okosuns descendant. If I were you I would be planning on doing big shows in Africa.. starting in Lagos. Guy.. you'd be bigger if you do this before dave chappelle/hart steals this idea lol. Dave chappelle and kevin hart went to Ghana last december. Accra is similar to Lagos/Abuja in terms of safety bro. Forget what your fellow podcast members are saying.. they don't know nothing about Africa.
My boy has family in lekki he just went in April. I’ll go to africa one day
This sounds like some Russian troll nonsense. There are always problems of some sort but it's not some lawless savage place. People go home and have family there they talk to all the time. Trying to make you scared of your own people.
Could be his own people too tho it's 50/50 roll the dice🤣🤣🤣
I know a guy in medical school from Nigeria. He came over to the states for school.
He came home the 1st time after, he stayed with his mom's then left for a few days.
He came back to his mom's place the next week and she told him people came looming for him. Tossed up his mom's house up and left.
She told him to leave cause somebody might have seen him.
Now, when he goes back he doesn't tell anyone and he doesn't go his mom's house. They meet in a random area.
And he's still in school. He ain't even making doctor money yet.
Keep fooling yourself.
I’ve seen my fair shares of madness in Nigeria, and it would be unwise to not have a little fear to keep you safe when you go back.
Lol whose uncle is the bald one,he needs nap time...he's just mumbling 😂🤣
Don’t do it Godfrey there not use to celebrities of your stature and fortune unless you plan on hiring mercenaries for protection! 😂
Don’t talk rubbish
He’s not bigger than da baby or cardi. Hell there are Nigerian artistes who are way richer than him.
You can go, but gone are the days of casually strolling back home, proper arrangements must be made. My family can’t freely drive from Abuja to Kaduna go figure, this is like traveling from DC to MD
Yes! I never go to Jamaica during elections. Nope. And when I go I am with trusted family who live there.
🇯🇲 I agree with the comments/ warnings 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
There's a state of emergency in Jamaica and I told my friend I wouldn't go I'm just praying for her she left yesterday
She cool. Tourist are relatively safe in Jamaica. Tourism is how Jamaicans make most of their money- they ain’t trying to scare tourists away
Anywhere that's full of niggas is a state of emergency. Come around us white folks lady, you're a lot safer.
@@redpillras3456 Tourists have been dying a lot more recently. I suspect it's due to people back in the tourists' countries putting hits on them though. One of them I believe was confirmed to be such a case.
I was at your show in Raleigh bro come back soon 🤣🤣🤣🙏🏾
Geoffrey you are 100% safe your colleagues in the studio are not fair Nigeria celebrities you know Davido and others are back home already don't mind them
They say that about ppl coming to Chicago bro...... you know what it is
Niggas on top of niggas = garbage disposal.
yeah i wouldnt go i would honestly just listen to the comments love godfrey man
Yea the elections be deadly as hell. My father told me to wait until late in the year. Smh
But that can be real talk. Ppl saying u need to come back home, but make sure u know what “home” is. People from other countries always told me, don’t go beyond the tourist section & always have a guide, & try not to go alone. That advice, years later, never changes.
Come to South Africa but don't let nobody know. We quite alright down here
I lived in Nigeria and yes you need to be careful PARTICULARLY during election time but all other times as well
I’ve been in Nigeria all my life, you can come.
Nigeria loved my Yellow ass I had crazy fun... and the women geesh!!!!!!
