Golfmates host Liam Harrison world index 5.6 & Ebay Pete Johnson 2021 Chorlton Captain index 12.4 visit Northumberland.
Originally named Berwick-Upon-Tweed Golf Club in 1890 on links land named GOSWICK by the Romans. Now known as Goswick Golf Club which is only six miles from the border town of Berwick.
On a clear day views stretch across the North Sea to Holy Island & south to Bamburgh Castle. The original course was laid out by Willie Park Junior (1903) reshaped by legendary course architect James Braid (1930) & most recently in 1964 by F.W Hawtree.
The Goswick Links is reached by a long winding road off the A1 & crosses the main railway line. The course is an Open qualifying venue with the front 9 heading North & the back 9 South & both provide a
Varied test of Golf & change in terrain.
The whole condition of the course is excellent, Greens are pure without being overly fast & the riveted bunkers are very well maintained.
Variable winds off the east coast make shot selection a real challenge, downwind a wedge can go 200 yards or only 50 yards if against.
If you are heading up to Northumberland or passing through on your way to Scotland, Goswick Links is well worth experiencing.

Im lucky to live in Northumberland we have some cracking courses.
Northumberland a beautiful part of the country with some wonderful views and better golf courses. Love links golf because bumping and running with your irons and using your putter from anywhere negates the use of the horrible wedge snakes. 🐍🐍

Played Goswick , great links course , an Open Qualifying course too. Some great courses in Northumberland . Bamburgh great for views of the wonderful Northumbrian coastline . Another hidded gem is Warkworth , a nine holer for £10 with an honesty box, and Alnmouth village and Foxton Hall

Great video! Love Northumberland, what a place! Used to spend every summer there at my grand parents caravans. I wasn't golfing then though. My dad was a member at seahouses up there for years, I never played it but he said it was a proper links test! Nice birdie there from 2 stroke 👌

I played Dunstanburgh GC last year. It’s only 20 mins or so from there. Absolutely stunning golf course
Some great courses
I played it a few years ago on a tour to Northumberland. Brutal is the best way of describing it! We also played Bamburgh which is amazing, Seahouses (great) and Dunstanburgh Castle which is amazing too. I'm loving this new hidden gems series. I played Nefyn also a few years back, and actually applauded the telly when you made the green on 5th, and also Joe for keeping the camera so still in that wind. When we played the wind was from the other direction and it's virtually impossible to keep steady on the tee mat! Not easy!! Can't wait til the next installment.

I'm from Northumberland and now live in Spain. Played on Sunday in 30c a bit hot and I would much prefer 30c to 3 degrees.

Our golf group "The Scufflers" go up to Northumberland every year (when allowed) and always play Goswick, course always in great condition. That par 3 down hill is extremely challenging to keep your ball on the green.

Ive heard Pennard is a top quality course
We had a wind chilled day -1 C deg. AND I shot 15 strokes over my handicap. The sleet was coming down sideways on some of the holes and the rain was hit and miss. I was cold, two hours after I left the course. But I kept my commitment and swore I'd never promise with those kind of conditions again.

Goswick ; just up the coast from me; and loads of great courses nearby; Dunstanborough castle and Linden Hall which hosted the Europro 2 years ago. Proper golf with proper golfers in proper weather. Great vid.

I played for Berwick Rangers a couple years ago when they were in League 2. I used to travel 3 times a week from Fife. They now play in the Lowland League. Great place with lovely people.

That being the case mate Lanark is a must, 25th oldest club in the world, it’s moorland right enough but played it myself recently, a real hidden gem and under £70 you would not be disappointed pal 👍🏻

You have done me a right favour I go to Beadnell every summer we normally play at Seahouses 50% links 50% woodland, plenty of water and normal Hazards, you have just offered us an alternative thanks. Also Capt Pete thanks for being just you it means a lot
