When i first started buying and wearing vintage in the early 90s, I could find these dresses in almost every antique store and thrift shops.....i really wish I would have kept them. But thankfully I can sew and youve inspired me to do one myself ❤
My black cat Sabrina sits on top of the serger as I sew at the conventional machine and then sits on top of the conventional machine as I sew at the serger. She often points with her paw to let me know where to pin something too.
It came out good! I love that print. Yes, I hate unpicking rayon too. When I work with rayon, I use spray starch on it before I cut it and start working with it, to make it less shifty to pin and cut. And then that spray starch will wash out when you're done with your project. Some people sandwich it in tissue paper while cutting to help prevent shifting. I've never tried that method since the spray starch method works well for me.
Super cute! I was curious about all of the hip and butt ruffles. My initial thought was, " That's gonna look very floofy!" Not so, it's a winner. Too bad about the missing pieces. I have several incomplete patterns that I thrifted. A few I've mixed and matched and looking forward to making. Lovely dress! See you next week.
Fantastic dress. I still love and watch a lot of movies from the 30s and 40s and this dress fits right in to that. I really liked it. The ruffles are so cute, very flattering. I loved the material as well. I am glad alls well that ends well. :-)
Would love to see you make another dress with alterations from what you learnt about fit on waist and changing style how of neck etc then comparing the two
Spooky is the absolute cutest cat! Lounging on top of the sewing machine-so adorable! And the fabric you chose is spot-on for the pattern; you totally nailed it. Also, 5 to 8 hours for a whole dress? That’s amazing! I think it’d take me closer to 20 to 30 hours, but honestly, I love slow sewing. It’s all about enjoying the process, right?
Adorable dress, I love the hip ruffles! If you want more ethical rayons, look for lyocell or tencel. The chemical processes for making those types of rayon are a lot less bad for the environment than traditional rayon or viscose.
1:47 I am late to watch a video but I am very excited to see this and I also want you to know that since you've mentioned that you are kind of into arranging flowers as a hobby I always pay attention to the flowers behind you and they are beautiful.
This is stunning and lovely work! I really struggle with knitting rayon and viscose type fabric and I’m fairly convinced I should be using a ball point needle (we will NOT discuss the time I managed to French seam two legs of a jumpsuit incorrectly and had to undo four seams). And sometimes cats just want to make like Velcro and stick to you. All three of mine are like that and so was my floof, Mia. And then there’s days where they have absolutely no idea who you are, complete stranger, never met you etc etc
@ it was rayon or viscose as well so I know you can imagine the state of the fabric afterwards! It wearable, but I definitely won’t use anything other than fine or ballpoint needles in future and I’m inclined towards the latter
I agree with you I too hate fraying material. You are a brave women to do French seams it’s like u sew the dress twice. I guess I’m lazy. Great job. This a my first time on your channel and will be back.🦩
so wonderfully made 😍 loved watching it all, I have a question if you have time but what interfacing did you use? it looked super lightweight and nice 🫶🏻

I know it all used to be so much easier to find!

That dress is cute on you! I love the ruffles!
It’s so stinking cute! And the fit is great. Unpicking is such a drag but so worth it.
Yep, I've learned I regret not unpicking most of the time!

Great make! I love the ruffles on you.
Those ruffles are super cute!❤
It WOULD be awesome sleeveless with a V neck❤❤
Hi Haley Marie. I love the material and the dress one I would wear myself.
So super pretty! I wasn't sure about the ruffles, but they're perfect in the light rayon. Absolutely LOVE the fabric!!
I wasn't either haha I went into this project with low expectations and am very pleased on how it ended up!
@@HaleyMarieVintage agreed! Seeing someone else do things that I worry about makes the struggle with body dysmorphia a lot easier.
Would love to see you make another dress with alterations from what you learnt about fit on waist and changing style how of neck etc then comparing the two
Love the fabric! I think it’s a cute dress!
such a cute dress. love the fabric
It turned out so great! I love the ruffles and the fabric was such a score. You look lovely.
Thank you!

Yup! And I'm only so fast because I sew so often for this channel next year one of my goals is to slow down a bit!
Its very flattering on you
Beautiful!
Adorable!!!
Its an unexpected pattern but the "peplums" look great; expecially in the rayon. Great fit and I adore the dahlia field is stunning!
Thank you!
I love that!❤❤❤❤
Another beautifully made piece that will look great on and make a wonderful addition to your wardrobe ❤
I love the ruffles on this dress! It looks lovely on you!
Fantastic!
It's gorgeous on you.

Thanks! I feel like those often don't come in as fun of patterns but hoping it gets better as more sewists want ethical fabrics!

OMG I LOVE IT! ❤❤❤
Those ruffles are so great!
My body shape is an apple shape, so my hips and butt need the help!
Thank you!
I love it it's gorgeous 👋👋😊❤xx

LOL we've all french seamed like that before and it is such a bummer!
@ it was rayon or viscose as well so I know you can imagine the state of the fabric afterwards! It wearable, but I definitely won’t use anything other than fine or ballpoint needles in future and I’m inclined towards the latter

I'm just afraid of my serger lol once I get it running I will likely skip french seams unless working with sheers or silks!
When doign the gathering fo rthe hemming, how does it hold up after multiple wash and wears? its a neat way of doing it!
I've never noticed an issue and this is how I hem most things!
so wonderfully made 😍 loved watching it all, I have a question if you have time but what interfacing did you use?
it looked super lightweight and nice 🫶🏻
I get all my interfacing at www.fashionsewingsupply.com/, but it seems like they're defunct now sadly, leaving the link in case they start back up
What are the white pieces you sit on your pattern while you cut? Where did you find them?
They are pattern weights, you can find them here! stylemakerfabrics.com/products/pattern-weight-set?_pos=1&_sid=54663a9b1&_ss=r
The amount of squealing I did over your cat sitting on the sewing machine
