Discovered your reaction videos to Rush today..amazing to see you get so absorbed by their music, imagine if you will a fresh-faced teenager discovering their music for the first time. I remember listening to 2112 when it was released, it was like a light went on inside. I smiled for days, I wore out my record needle. My first concert was the Moving Pictures tour in '81 and my Son's first concert was the Time Machine Tour in 2010. Their music has been with me ever since and now with my son. Its a beautiful thing watching someone discover Rush and your genuine and heartfelt embrace of all things Rush takes me back to the day I was introduced just over 40 years ago..bless you sir..
All three of them felt like outsiders when they were growing up. I think you would enjoy Rush Beyond the Lighted Stage. It is a documentary on their lives growing up, how the band started and is very informative. I suggest Lessons from one of their earlier albums and One Little Victory live in Rio which is off one of their later albums. Yes, all that sound from three guys. Cheers
@@jamesdonlon3763 Well that one was all Geddy. You can see why Neal took over lyrics when he joined. But I have to say that the debut album is still in my top 3 Rush albums. I love every song on that album!
@@bryanbailey6963 agreed! That debut album is fun and it truly rocks. Although Working man started it all in many ways, I like the other tracks at least as much! Gefilter on!
I'm 65, grew up w/ them- a staple of my music, and I'm thankful that another generation can listen appreciate, what Rush did; Neil in particular. Because he blew me away beginning about 40 years ago.
Ok, this one has been blowing minds across a lot of reaction channels. You want drums from what a lot people consider to be the best drummer of all time? It’s hard to argue with them after watching this. It’s, Neil Peart drum solo- RUSH live in Frankfurt. He usually did a solo in every concert. I had the pleasure of seeing him do this many times live. Even for the from day one fans like me, it’s still epic. Nothing, I mean NOTHING like a RUSH concert! I got greedy and saw them 18 times. Super clean, zero mistakes or slack EVER! Precise, powerful, excellent live band. Complete pros! It’s hard to describe the specialness of RUSH night. You are in a great mood for days afterward. ROCK PRIVILEGE!
Good to see young dudes like yourself discovering, and appreciating the genius that is Rush. Their music will be around forever as more and more people start turning their kids on to this, and then their kids, and so on. Music for the sake of music, not for the bottom line profit margins.
It is SO FUN to see you so happy to check out some of the great bands. And really appreciating them. Don't know why, Pope- it just makes me happy to know that 40 years on, people still love to hear (and see, where possible) greatness: Rush and Floyd, Zep and Tull... Peace and be safe.
There are many overlooked and incredible songs on the Signals album, including an exciting tribute to NASA and the Space Shuttle. I encourage you to review more songs on this album; it has been overlooked for reactions.
I love it when young people like you discover RUSH. This is the only band that I saw in my Teens, 20s, 30s, and 40s. I was blessed to have seen them 11 times in concert. Each time I saw them, it was like a spiritual event for me . I will truly miss seeing them live in concert. Neil was a musician, poet, and author. Subscribed.
You're a wise man! The music video brings me back with the Tempest video game at the arcade, the cars, the people, the outfits and of course the Subdivisions. Alex Lifeson for Prime Minister! Let's break the Subdivisions! Regards from Canada! (;
my favorite memory of this song is this - My best friends and I were planning on going to a Rush concert at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in the evening and in the afternoon we were playing golf on the course that is right on the same grounds. I forget what hole we were on, but all of sudden that synth riff starts blasting - they played Subdivisions as the sound check for the show and we heard the whole song while golfing! That was a trip. Not that we needed any additional reason to be hyped, but we were all amped up after that! It looks like you've heard most of the epics and I really like your reactions and appreciation of Rush. The short form (shorter songs) version of Rush is just as spectacular. Maybe even more so. They go through a synth phase starting with this album and continuing through most of the '80's before returning to a harder rocking style. Gems of the synth era would be Analog Kid, Marathon, Mission, Lock and Key. Then they move out of keys and some quick highlights would be Bravado, Ghost of a Chance, Animate, Between Sun & Moon, Double Agent, Driven. Oh, I give up, just listen to them all! Do a bunch of these before getting to anything on their last album (Clockwork Angels - 2012) which was a MASTERPIECE. And The Garden (especially the live version) might make you cry.
The first time I got to see Rush in concert, it was the pre-tour for the Signals album. They started off with 2112 done really fast. Later, they played several songs from Signals...including this one. It was a phenomenal show. My friends and I enjoyed the hell out of it, as it was in our hometown. There were about 10 of us that went to the show together. This was back when you stood on the main floor for the whole show...no seats at all, unless you went up into the stands on the sides like we did for a good chunk of the show. It was at our Civic Center, so that part was used for concerts, basketball games, and other big events.
It's always a pleasure watching the younger generation catch on to Rush's talent and genious! Would love to see you watch a few of the later Rush tunes (Far Cry, Roll the Bones - the dudes actually include a rap portion, and their last song in their historical run - The Garden! The live version with stage visuals and a large string section brings a tear to any Rush fan's eyes, knowing it was the very last song they recorded, and virtually sums up Neil's philosophy of life! Keep it going, and thanks for the great reactions! Funny how much it means to us older guys who grew up with Rush (and I live not far from where Geddy and Alex grew up in Toronto! Blessings!
This album represented a real change in Rush's sound, moving away from guitars & more heavily into keyboards. They lost a lot of fans where I'm from because of this change, & in fact, I was skeptical myself until I really listened to this album a few times. Neil's lyrics are incredible on Signals. This song speaks to everyone who ever grew up in a suburb.
nice reaction pal.rush didnt need help from the mainstream they just let there amazing talents amaze the best fans in the world for 45years.track after track the dish it out .no let up.r.i.p neil
You should consider reacting to "Time Stand Still" by Rush. It would be very cool if immediately after reacting to "Time Stand Still" you then react to the US Army band paying tribute to Neil Peart as they perform an unbelievably great version of the song. It's so great to see the US Army paying tribute to a Canadian band in honor of the late, great Neil Peart after he passed away.
That US Army Band Tribute to Neil is one of the most touching things a Rush fan could hear. Notice it's a "missing man" arrangement? No drummer. The backup vocalist wrote the arrangement and did Rush right.
Always loved this track. I was an oddball in high school and this song spoke to me. And as much as I love the lyrics,I could just listen to Neil's drum track just by itself!
There is a video of this one live where the cameras are primarily focused on Neil. I think it's mainly overhead cameras, but i could be wrong there. It is worth a watch, incredible performance as usual.
Welcome to RUSH. We have assumed control. Try the following: 2112 The Album Moving Puctures La Villa. Strangiato Xanadu from Exit Stage Left Live 1981 Neil Pearts Drum Solo Live in Franfurt
Yeah, watching Neil and the guys playing Xanadu and Jacob’s Ladder…with the laser show, and got to take my son and husband!! Definitely a great show and surreal experience!! 🤘🏼
When this song came out I lived in the NW suburbs of Houston. We used to drive in to Downtown and then head down to Montrose, the gay village, and then cruise out Westheimer all nineteen miles to near Barker Dam. Kids would either cruise or line Westheimer all nineteen miles the first couple of weekends when school let out. Once you got a bit past the Galleria we were back in some one else's suburbia. We absolutely loved when KLOL played this as we were on the cruise. We also like Aldo Nova's "Fantasy", now an eighties one hit wonder.
One of my favorite Rush songs. So meaningful to know that they (Particularly Neil) also related to the struggle of growing up as teens that so many others experience. This is the song that brought tears streaming down my face at the United Center in Chicago on June 13th, 2015, during what I (correctly) suspected would be my final Rush concert (of 31 total Rush shows since 1980). It sounds so great, the lyrics are always so impactful, and I was caught up in the emotion of this being the last time to experience them performing together as they had hinted leading up to the tour. I cannot think of any other band who produced such incredible music for over 40 years! Vive Le Rush and RIP Neil. Recommend you check out Natural science from the Permanent Waves album.
You are so well spoken and insightful with your comments. Definitely appreciate it. I cover subdivisions on drums on my channel if you want to watch a mortal play it. I was also buddies with Neil and did a lot of work with him and Rush. So I can tell you he was a beautiful human being as well!
Well, it wasn't so much that mainstream media didn't want to push Rush (once they adopted a more commercial sound at least), but you have to understand and appreciate their origins. They wanted to create conceptual art music just like their influencers...Yes, King Crimson, Genesis, Zeppelin, etc. They were almost canceled from their record label, because they refused to conform and make more commercial music. They compromised, though they may not like to admit it, nor their fans, but eventually Rush managed to perfect their art and be able to churn out hit after hit in their own prog rock style! Neil made sure the record industry was sneered at in the lyrics of The Spirit of Radio. Anyway, great reaction!
