Idk why but the stiffener on the front of my left sneaker hurts my foot. Not sure what i did wrong?

Where on the foot is it hurting you? Maybe you put the stiffener up too high? You can always re heat the shoe using a heat gun (be careful not to burn your upper) and use your fingers to stretch it out from the inside 🌟

@suedazara1266: For the first pair that I made beyond traditional footwear for the local region, I knew exactly what I wanted, and it was going to be a little difficult to find, so I ran to the local thrift shop and was blessed to find something that was structurally similar to the pair that I wanted to make, in the right size; But there was just no source of patterns to reflect exactly what was needed, as far as I could find. Purchasing a pattern would have been preferable, most, especially because it would’ve come with instructions, but it wasn’t possible.
It was a simple matter of taking them apart, noting the order in which things came apart, as constructing something new becomes much easier, knowing the order that things will have to be put together when the time comes.
The old shoe pieces made for a really good pattern. The new had to be made to fit feet, that have a bit of an unusual shape, so it was just a simple matter of making some pattern adjustments before cutting out the pieces.
Things went together pretty easily, and so far they have served a very long time.
so if you’re looking for a pattern that you can’t really find, perhaps this might help you out.

@ChrisBlessingOfficial: Take heart, my brother. I don’t think she’s saying that she wants you to pay for her course.
For anybody with even a little bit of sewing experience, The content of this video amounts to a complete set of directions.
The thing about not having a lot of extra money to work with, is that you learn to be creative. Beyond what other people might be.
You learn to think differently, so that you get exactly what you need without having to compromise your budget. Then maybe it takes a little more planning, but that’s OK. You’ve got this.
I have made shoes, and the steps she shows here pretty much are the whole thing. So if you make or find a last (and there are lots of instructions on the Internet for making them out of lumber that you might have around the property, or that you might use scrap wood for), you can source the leather from a secondhand store, by scrapping, an old leather jacket, or almost anything with enough leather in it of the right quality.
It’s a pattern you can easily make yourself, by cutting a pair, an old pair of your favorites, that you have to scrap, or buying a secondhand pair In the right size and shape, taking those apart to use to make your own; Or by covering an old pair of shoes and asking tape, marking the features on the tape, and then gently cutting off the pieces to make your pattern. That doesn’t have to cost you anything at all.
Any lining that you want to do you can source similarly.
If you choose to put eyelets in the lace holes, that’s up to you. But those are not expensive, as you know, and they come with the tool for setting the eyelets in place. The same punch and eyelet setter used in sewing applications, works just fine for leatherworking applications.
You may have to purchase a hole punch, but they’re not expensive.
An awl is really useful, But you can use the awl That you keep in your tool, shed or toolbox for other purposes, to make holes, and just use a leatherworking needle to do the stitching. For that matter, you might as well get two leather worker needles, because it’ll make it a whole lot easier since you’re working from both ends of the needle.
Then you need a quantity of heavy gauge thread, or sinew.
And you can choose to buy adhesive for extra security in holding the cup-sole in place. But you may have some Barnes glue on hand, anyway, or maybe some gorilla glue that looks like contact cement almost, or maybe you have some contact/rubber cement or Shoe Goo onhand. For that matter, in a pinch, you could pretty much make and use hide glue from a rawhide dog dog bone at the dollar store, but if that’s what you have to go with, you want to make sure that you stitch that sole on well, as hide glue can break down if it’s exposed to enough moisture for enough time.
You’ll probably have to buy a cup sole separately.
So once you have the tools on hand, and many people have them on hand for other things, You could make some pretty nice quality footwear for very little investment.
The only step that I would do that she doesn’t talk about in this video, and she might not actually do it herself, is skyving the leather.
So, in the places like the bottom of the sole, after wrapping the leather from the upper part of the shoe, a person can end up with gathers in the leather or fabric, as you’ve probably already noticed in the video.
If the fabric is really thin, it may not matter, but if it’s leather, once the adhesive dries on the bottom, then you can take a skyving knife, or even a utility knife, and trim to flatten down the bulk of those puckers underneath the foot so that you don’t feel like you’re walking on wrinkles and bumps.
If you do this, it would be a good idea to stay away from the edges of the wrap, so that you don’t compromise the integrity of the leather there.
if you have a sewing machine, great. I did not have a sewing machine to work with for the first few pairs of shoes that I made. So I did it by hand. No investment involved, Beyond a little extra time, and elbow grease.
If you have a friend with a sewing machine that is capable of handling the thickness of the material that you’re going to work with, then, that friend may let you use her machine, and may even give you a little tutorial to make its’ use easier. if you’ve got several machines to choose from, and the leather is thick, definitely choose the old-fashioned machine. The older machines can handle almost everything. but the newer electronic machines are so delicate that if you don’t use exactly the right manufacturer-specified thread, it’ll be hundreds of dollars to repair the damage (so make sure your friend with the machine knows what you’re looking to sew).
      so that’s about it.
As long as you have a little extra time to put into it slowly whatever you get a few minutes, you could put together a really nice pair of sneakers, and they would cost you very, very little.
and if you’re very inexperienced, it’s not hard to find videos to show you specifically how a given thing is done.
This woman actually does a pretty good job of showing generally how things are done, and she does it in just a little bit of time.
I guess one more tip might be To suggest that if you are inexperienced and unsure about how to do things, ask a more experienced friend or older relative who does this sort of thing, to help you figure it out, after you have done your research and understand The basics and have maybe seen things done on a step-by-step basis in video form at the very least. It will really help.
By the time you’ve done your research, you may not even need the help of a buddy.
PS. I just had a look through this lady’s channel. She’s got a whole lot of nice videos there about how to make different types of shoes. You may find answers that you’re looking for, if you have a look through her videos.
And if you don’t get the detail you want, have a look around online. There are lots of tutorials there to help you out.
