I wish I had found this video last night. It would have saved me hours of struggle from mere misunderstanding the labels. Thanks for the info! Extremely helpful.
I am so confused. why would you go off the workpiece size? why not just make it go somewhere on the bed i am confusde what you woul dwant to cut on the left or off the board? isn't the blue OFF the machine??? this makes no sense
Since the Carvey machine does not have the "Move to Work Home" step I assume you must always carve based on the home position of the smart clamp. Tell me if there is a way to set starting position on Carvey. Thanks
Unfortunately the carvey is a very restrictive toy. I personally advise against getting one. It's under powered and under sized. You can get a much bigger, stronger machine from open builds (lead 1010).
It isn't undersized depending on what you're doing. I run mine in my office - it contains the mess and is pretty quiet. I've been able to cut all the materials I've tried so it has enough power for me. I've worked around the "MtWH" issue by creating a spreadsheet to offset the carving features by a fixed amount to avoid the smart clamp, in my case 25.4 mm right and up. As I recall Carvey has more Z capability than the big open gantry machines.
@@michaelberry950 my modified gen 1 x-carve has 4.5" of clearance under the carriage and an 8" travel z axis. I didn't think I said undersized, even though it is tiny, but size is relevant to your needs. I said it's a toy. Its stepper motors are very tiny and the spindle is also. My x-carve can cut at 200ipm and 0.15" depth of cut without stuttering. The carvey is geared towards people who don't want to actually know how to operate a cnc machine but need to make prototypes. I think it serves a purpose. But it's not upgradable. It's not really serviceable. You can't load your own firmware or use any controller you want for it. You are forced to use easel or your warranty is voided. Its VERY restrictive. And I'm not knocking you, this is just my opinion on the carvey. Theres not much in the way of tricks or modifications.
@@7711gman I wanted an entry-level machine and I got one. Your machine sounds very mighty and I'm probably moving in that direction once I outgrow my toy. I have seen nothing that suggests a warranty is voided by importing G-code and in fact you can do this using Easel/Carvey. Lots of YT stuff on how to do it and I'm trying to master the CAM side of Fusion 360 so I'm not limited to Easel or heaven forbid Easel Pro. I don't need powerful and fast at this point but I do need to learn 3D CAD and CAM. I've had a blast with this thing while watching TV in my living room, something to be said for that. Thanks for your honest evaluation, I now have a better picture of what Carvey stands for.
@@michaelberry950 like I said, I meant no disrespect to you. You can import 3rd party gcode but you cannot use a 3rd party sender to control your carvey
Cool video thanks for the upload. I didn't know that you could hide cut information. Useful if you want to change bits to switch from cutting a sigh and letters.
You all prolly dont give a shit but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Jedidiah Cyrus i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

This was worth watching if for no other reason than seeing the pen hack and thinking what that makes possible. Awesome. :)
