The HD brand and culture is iconic for sure. I welcome a bike manufacturer that is bringing some new stuff to the table. Not to mention the fact that I have an opportunity to try something new and support an American made product. That is a win in my book.
After a 20 year absence from riding, during which my riding skills all but totally rusted away, I did a refresher course at Honda, then rented and rode a Harley Heritage in the Australian Outback, then spent a while scratching dandruff, over what bike to buy, before settling on a Victory Cross Country. I don't regret it. Although heavy, compared with my previous bikes, it's docile and patiently puts up with me and my bullshit, haha.
After 4 Harleys and now my Victory, I can attest to the Victory being WAAAYY better! More power, better handling, no vibration, runs cooler, and maitenance actually seems to have been considered by the engineers.
The 10th anniversarry edition Vision sold out in 7 minutes. When people vote with wallets like that the competition better pay attention. Victory has 95% customer satisfaction, 5 year warranty, less maintanance and a pretty smoking hot design. They are onto something. I am looking at one as we speak. I have my minor crisisms of the bike but it a sweet ride. I hope they get HD and Honda off of their ass and drive some new innovation that has been needed for a long time.
Victory motorcycles are great. I love my Kingpin, I live right behind a Harley dealership, and knowing about all the bad engine decisions they have made I am very happy with the reliability of my Victory.
On other hand... HD has been here for 100years and you can still see them on the road. Old, slow, and shakening...but still going well. All "new-hi-tech" stuff will not last so long ;)
Where do these Harley trolls come from??? Aguy pulled up next to me on his loaded Ultra last week (I ride a Hammer S). I told him it was a good-looking bike (it was), but I just could not take my eyes off the way the engine shakes, and jumps, on those mounts, at idle! When he pulled off, the bike rolled left, and, well, that just never ceases to amaze me! I wanted a Rocker C (at 1st), but, the Victory tech, power, and style won me over!
Why didn't American Thunder show the guy not only picking up the bike by himself when he laid it over on it side to show the "Tip Over" feature but show him applying the kick stand by himself too?? Or did he actually have help because the bike is too heavy? Every video I see where they show the tip-over feature they never show the rider applying the kick stand from the pick up position??
I hope so too. You can't replace the romance and alure of Harley Style. They are like a pair of comfortable Levi's. I am interested in something with a bit of a unique look. I am still not sure if a Vision is the right thing for me. I do like the Kingpin and Jackpot but I am interested in touring but I am bored with the same old Road King look. Thanks for your last comment.
The looks aren't for everyone. I have to admit I have always been an HD guy, and over 15 years ago when I bought a Tour Glide everyone told me how ugly it was, now look...everyone is riding the Road Glide, the same bike they all chided just a few years ago. I'm sure that in a few years all the Johnny comelatelys will be riding Visions and bragging about how they were Victory guys since "back in the day". I still own two Shovels, including the Tour Glide, but I sure do love my Vision!
Almost a decade later Polaris decided to shut it down! The death of Victory Motorcycles will prove to be a grave mistake. The Indian will not fill the gap!
Don't be mad at me for stating victorys book values, I don't make the prices I just post them. It's also not my fault victorys resale in on par with Japanese bikes. Your free to buy all the victorys you want, just don't count on having anyone to buy it from you when you get bored with it. Are you one of those guys that say you'll never sell it? That's probably because you won't find anyone to buy it from you.,,.
You must own a Harly? What ever you think you can sell it for subtract $2000 to $4000! Because everyone has one and there is a better deal then you are offering. I know because it happened to me. Everything loses it's value the minute you drive it off the lot! When you pay $4000 more for a motorcycle then another equally equipped one you would expect it to be worth more when you sell it! A new victory Magnum is $20,100 with military incentives a new stree glide special "the comparable HD" is $24,000! If you add in financing your talking about $5000 more for a motorcycle! (Sorry I can't afford to pay cash for one). And no one keeps anything forever. So either I lose $5000 now or take my chances on the resale of a victory that is what I stuck trying to decide.
I've been on an 05' softail now for nearly 8 years and 50 some thousand miles. I'm ready for a touring bike but I just cannot get past the low speed vibration of the street/road/ultra glide of Harley. I love how they all look but I'm just not impressed with them. I love how this damn Vision rides/handles/feels but like all others, just cannot get past the looks. At least at this moment in time I can't.
Victory has come a long way. Some of their bikes are really nice looking. However, the two things that I just cant get past are the amount of plastic they use and the EXTREMELY poor resale value. Stop by a Victory dealer and look at the bikes. Tap on the mirrors, speedo housing, side covers and turn signals, all are plastic! Also, check out the resale value (or lack of) on these bikes. An average of 2/3 is lost within the first 2 model years! If you are considering a Victory, I would strongly suggest buying used and not new. Let someone else take the hit for the first couple of years.
Everything is 90% plastic. I traded my 2013 C90 Boulevard for a 2017 XC Jan 28.The Bully had a lot of plastic, too. So far, the best bike I've owned then would be the 86 Suzuki Cavalcade. Guess I'm a sucker for something different.
They can go 200,000 miles... ymm. You could do 2,000,000 miles on donkey if you had the money. HiTech=HiCost. Just look at the amount of specialized tools you need to service new bike plus all computerized stuff which cannot be fixed on road.
Does the 15% of non American made parts on a HD bug ya? Not to say that Victory is likely any different. We are in a world economy. Your remark is "picking the fly poop out of the pepper" IMHO. I am not slamming HD or the culture but I fail to see your point.
i like the victory, but i wasn't impressed by it's road manners. it handled a bit too "heavy" for my tastes. i looked at harleys, too, but eventually settled on a triumph rocket 3 and haven't looked back since. the rocket handles like a bike half it's size and when you twist the throttle hard, you learn the meaning of the phrase "The Hand of God" !!
New tech will last way longer than old teck. Don't be a hard a-- & give victory a star. New tech in auto's show u that. They can go 200,000 plus miles know. So what do u say about new teck know.
You have taken my "A Pit Bull with Lip Stick - for real" video out of context. It is a political video. Sorry that you didn't comprehend it and turned it into a gay bashing thing. The video has nothing to do with gay folks or motorcycles for that matter. You appear to be obsessed with homosexuals. I'm not gay and I am not fearful of them either. Perhaps you might want to adopt this attitude - Mr. Hater.
Yes "gay" as in happy. I don't care for the pejorative use of the term. Sorry that you are so unhappy. Your adolescent criticisms won't defocus from the fact that Victory is really stepping up their game. I like Harley too. They are just too expensive to buy and repair. I have had three Harleys and own one now. Two of them were nightmares including the one I currently have. I just need something more reliable. I could care less about image or what your opinion is.
Metric, yes. Foreign, no - unless you consider Minnesota and Iowa "foreign countries." Then again, geography may not be your strong point. You are either misinformed or purposely dishonest. I prefer to think of you as the latter.
Has NOTHING to do with the Ness family, if your gonna rag on something at least know what your talking about...This is not the ONLY Victory they make.. .haha... and besides looks are subjective....
If you had bought a victory back when this video was made, you would know 2 things. 1 is, it's ugly looks don't grow on you. and 2, it's worth less then half of what it cost 7 years later. Making it on par with Japanese motorcycle resale values. Victory is trying to copy what the Japanese haven't been able to do and that is, to beat Harley at the big twin game. Funny how the only people that sing Victory's praise ,are people that have something to gain from doing so. Either they sell them, or sell parts for them, or are givin one to "evaluate" on their TV show. The Honda vtx 1800, Yamaha road star, and the Kawasaki vn 2000 were also gonna set the motorcycling world on fire, but where are they now?.,,
Your have to be kidding? That is one stupidest comment I have read to date about Victory motorcycles! Where are you getting your facts from? Have you even looked into buying a used Victory? I've Seen $25000 Harleys new 8yrs ago that can be had for $15k to $17! There are so many Harleys out there that you can wait for the right one! So many of you die hard HD guys putting down another American made bike! If you don't like the looks it's one thing but to say they don't hold the value compared to a HD is ridiculous! You go buy a new HD street glide and try to sell it a year later! Let me know how you make out! You'll lose about $3000! And it's the same for a Victory! Only difference is you'll pay about $1500 less for a Victory. I'm about to pull the trigger and get a new bike so I've been doing my research on new and used bikes! And Harleys don't hold the value like they used to. If you add $100 of extras to your HD (which you probably did) maybe you'll get more. But now it's a $35 bike! I test rode just about everything except sport bikes and the Victorys are on part With HD! Still on the fence on what bike I will get but resale is NOT going to affect my decision!
You've made negative comments on every Vic site that I have seen so far. If you are so happy with your Harley, fine, keep it but not everyone wants a Harley. Deal with it. Brand loyalty is OK for some. You just don't have to put everything else down to support HD. Your criticisms become rather boring since you do it on every Victory site.
best bike I've owned. 153k miles and counting
The HD brand and culture is iconic for sure. I welcome a bike manufacturer that is bringing some new stuff to the table. Not to mention the fact that I have an opportunity to try something new and support an American made product. That is a win in my book.
They truly are awesome motorcycles. The most comfortable bike I've ever rode...
After a 20 year absence from riding, during which my riding skills all but totally rusted away, I did a refresher course at Honda, then rented and rode a Harley Heritage in the Australian Outback, then spent a while scratching dandruff, over what bike to buy, before settling on a Victory Cross Country. You have a good understanding of H-D. I'm glad you made your post.

I rode the Vision Tour a little- the suspension was A MAY ZING. Made my Bandit 600S, which I love, feel like a piece of crap.

great reviews, i felt it genuine.
mine is 11yo and going strong. The technology in them is simple. One oil only... they are easy to maintain, change the oil and ride!

They follow the same formula as Harley. With flashy paint but with newer technology.
Does anyone know when this show will be back on Speed TV???
I have thought about riding again, and Victory is on my mind, or second choice a Yamaha Royal Venture. Done with Harley.
Now that's a BIKE!!!!
Almost a decade later Polaris decided to shut it down! The death of Victory Motorcycles will prove to be a grave mistake. The Indian will not fill the gap!
@Gypscrews why i am looking to buy one what ya think ?

you can have a Ford Model T on the road.... just have to replace everything on them.

Thank god lol

Big reductions in price in Canada. No one wants them
Still the ugliest bike on the road! They need to retire the ness family!

Phil Pfirrmann What bike isn't worth 1/2 or less when it's got 150,000 miles on it?
You've made negative comments on every Vic site that I have seen so far. If you are so happy with your Harley, fine, keep it but not everyone wants a Harley. Deal with it.
