Love your videos. Just want to ask how is the pergola doing? I am just curious if it can hold snow well. I live on the north east side and sometimes we do get heavy snow. Im concerned about the mechanism and hiw well it can handle snow?
The louvers are made of solid metal. They can hold 13.8lb/ft2 of snow. We had several snowstorms (6 to 8 inches) in Indiana since putting up mine with no problems.
4:44 Hi, I’m installing the shade on my pergola right now and was wondering how did you install it underneath the side with the gearbox and crank? I keep hitting the metal crank piece that attaches to the gearbox
When you added the first piece up top … the piece where you screw 6 screws across into the top beam… did you get water leaking through the screws? It rained the other day and water was sitting in the gutter channel and these screws go into that for some reason and I’m getting a drip coming through all those screws … I haven’t put the main heavy screen piece up yet but am confused and annoyed about the water dripping down ….this happen to you?
So are the gutters to the inside of where those initial screws are? Meaning are the gutters towards the inside side of the pergola? Thx for your replies
When you put up the screens, they screw and inch from the gutters. The gutters are on the outside of the pergola. If you look down from the top, you will see the gutters are not the total width of the top structure, leaving an inch or so for the screens to screw into.
The mirador video shows it swinging out to install the rail along the screen. My pergola is inside deck rails - can you swing the screen inside instead to install?
So what I found was that the screw needs to cut a hole, and then the screw can go in. Just think of it as drilling a hole and screwing a screw at the same time. Fast drill speed with light pressure so it can cut then push a little harder. Once you figure it out it goes fast.
Start a pilot hole with self tapping screw that is slightly smaller than your finish screw, or pre-drill a smaller hole than the size of the finish screw. Do not make hole too big or you'll lose some structural integrity.
@michaelunger9978 so the screens will go up but the screen might come out at the bottom. Can you move the leg then re-bolt? Try this lay the screen down at the bottom and see if it is close to both legs.
@@AtHomewithLucas when I hook the top bar it’s not leveled and becomes angled. It was very difficult to screw in the screen unit to the top bar. We did it but now it’s angled and the screen down pull down correctly…

Hope I covered everything! If I missed anything let me know. 💯😀

Oh unscrew it and take it off then put it back on after you install the screen.
Sorry I forgot to talk about that in the video.
@@AtHomewithLucasok I will unscrew the part the stick crank goes in. Did you also unscrew the gearbox? If so, how did you do that?
@PaulyG209 no

No, because the screws don't do into the gutters. They go in front of the gutters. So I'm not sure what's going on.

Yes
I was able to put the 4th one in being only 7 inches from my house
I wonder if this could be installed on a custom made pergola. just built one out front, planned to build one out back to match
Yes, definitely. I think if you just matched the top beam (gutter lip), you would be good to go.
What a smart idea...of course, make sure it's the same height and width as the screens you buy.
What is the wind speed that these can tolerate when all the way down?
It takes us so long for each screw into the metal of the pergola as we’re installing the sun screen. Did it you as well or what’s the trick?

How much room for error is there if the two pillars aren’t 100% parallel with one another? Mine is off by a little bit
Did you bolt them into concrete?
@@AtHomewithLucasyes I did. The bottom is one inch longer than the top

Yes I think I can loosen the bolts and slide it over just a touch if it doesn’t fit just right. Thanks for your insight!
@michaelunger9978 keep me updated on how it works
Forgot to mention, take the crank arm off, and remove the mount screw. Then, take off the crank mount before installing the screen.
The top piece where we drill 6 screws is not screwing in flush for us to add the screen. Any advice?
It doesn't get flush. It will stick out a bit, that's normal.

Im unable to line up the two sides because the top bar is angled…
The bar with the screen?
Nothing should be angled
