WOW! That was an exciting kiln reveal! Kiln cookies will mitigate the pucker factor for a drool. Can't wait to see more video. Also great way to get me to press the like button💜 Kiln opens are just tje best daz💞
I got a few bottles of this a couple months ago and yes it is a super thiccc glaze. If you brush it on you get better results with about 6 coats. It needs to go on thick to get all the color variation in it.
Thank you so much for including a red clay body as a test tile. That is all that I use. Until now, I have only seen Amaco and layering tested on white clay bodies so I wasn't interested in wasting money on glazes without a good idea of the result.
Can you do some reviews pouring some of the “trickier” amaco glazes? Like June bug? Saturation gold. Aventurine. You know. The ones that NEVER seem to turn out like the pictures. Please!?
Ancient Copper is the bomb! Might as well buy a gallon, rather than a pint. It does like a bit more heat - ^6 with a bit of a hold. Best at the top of the kiln.
If you can find Ancient Copper buy a couple of bottles because they are re hard to find. I really love Ancient Copper and at one point bought an extra bottle…yay me.
@@susyward581 All of the glaze companies are having problems being able to get supplies. From chemicals to jars to put them in. Shortages of things has been an issue for quite some time now.
The third cup is truly spectacular! The dual glaze combination gives it the look of aged copper. I'm going to need a Glazy account now so I can steal your recipe....I don't even have a studio...YET!
All this is cool but have you tried to order any, I can’t seem to get any. I get similar results at cone 6 brushed on with two coats. Three coats is very runny at cone 6.
Love the combo with your Laogia Green over Ancient Copper. For those of us who don’t know how to make glazes from scratch, do you ever make small batches and sell it? If not, is there a commercial glaze you think would produce comparable results? Thanks!
Iron glazes look cool underneath a floating blue. Like a rutile blue. I like to trail celadons and temoku on a piece then dip the whole thing in rutile blue. Lot of cool color and sometimes small crystals
I really appreciate that you include red clay bodies in your tests. It is my preference. But of course, every glaze maker only shows examples on white clay, which feels like a scam, so I hadn't planned to every buy a off the shelf glaze. I now have a shopping list of glazes that I am buying to try now based on the red clay tests that you did in these review videos
Wondering on that 3rd Cup ..... what was the location in the kiln...... Was it along the edge and the side that ran was closest to the elements. If the piece was in the middle of the Kiln would it run ? or would it run more evenly ?
I have been interested in finding or developing recipes for this kind of glaze as well. I have heard this class of glazes referred to as an "iron saturate" glaze which provides us clue as to where to start at least. Thanks!
Orange Red by Clara Giorello on Glazy looks similar. I only used it on a test tile but it was super beautiful. Same colors, similar crystals. Recipe number on Glazy: 32666
Update. Didn't go as hoped. The Glazy recipe uses yellow iron oxide. My test tile was made with red iron oxide. I didn't have yellow at the time and I used a little less of the red, since it is the same thing, just more concentrated than yellow. I don't know how much less than the recipe and I lost my notes. Now I used yellow iron oxide. And boohoo, I have ugly brown and not red with orange crystals. I'll try adding more and more red iron oxide until it becomes as nice as the test tile.
So, it’s ok to pour a brushing glaze?
Yup.
I've made three different videos on it.
I think pouring it usually gets better results.
I'm buying more of this

That glaze looked like a landscape

Holy crud Donte, That was fantastic!
Loved the 3 rd cup. Beautiful 😍
That's a really beautiful glaze.
My fAVORITE Amaco glaze

I CAN NOT FIND THIS GLAZE ANYWHERE AND THIS VIDEO IS KILLLING ME DAMN IT!! Lol
Not able to get Amaco potters choice glazes anywhere in the U.K. what’s the story?

I love the copper! Especially with the green on top! Yumm! My next glaze
Absolutely beautiful effects. It's sad to watch this now, though, knowing that AC is no longer available 😢
Very interesting and your work ceramics are look amazing thanks for sharing

Digging both this glaze and the animal crossing jams... lol. Thanks for another winner!

New color I'm trying also. Yes -- my jar was thick also.

Did you post your green recipe it’s awesome
I did. Loagai green is on my glazy profile 🙂
It's a beautiful glaze. I'd like to see you try it with your Lumos glaze or one of your black glazes.
It will look more like the bottle if you fire it at cone 5 instead of cone 6
Hey Dante. Can't AMACO tell you the clay body they use for their test tiles? I like all three results.
It's usually a porcelain clay I assume but I still do multiple clay bodies per test because not everyone uses a white clay body or porcelain.
I’m trying to get some, I’ve seen great results on black clay too
Man, I have such mixed results with Ancient Copper. I may never brush it again after seeing your results. Amazing! Cone 6, right? Any hold?
Thanks! Great review!
Could you do Ancient Copper and Oatmeal, please?
I reallllky wish I could make your glazes!!
That was impressive, is your Laogia Green a Celadon like glaze?
Those are beautiful!

Why on earth have Amaco discontinued this lovely glaze? I just started using it. :/
Because it has lithium in it and lithium is super expensive now. Too much demand for batteries.
Okay, but you didnt need to call us out in the intro. 😂
Wow!
That is like 8x the amount I brush on and I get vibrant sparkly copper tones. That is bonkers amount of glaze lol
If you don’t mind answering what is the firing schedule do you use to fire?
is laudow green recipe available?
RIP Ancient Copper ⚰️🧨
I wonder what I did wrong, Glazy doesn't show your green recipe.
🥰💖
I bought some and was very thin
I’m glad i had my pants on 😃😅 beautiful
They are discontinuing this glaze. 😭😭😭😭 get more while you can.
Makes me think of like 6th grade Petri dishes
Yes, I was in bed when I watched this, but I had pants on. :-)
Wait, hang on... I've been doing this all wrong? Laboriously applying 3 brush coats
