I have more expensive axes, but I prefer this one most. I re-handled it, a bit longer, 20". Inside the eye has forged "ridges" inside. To prevent loosening when prying the axe out of the wood. Very nice touch. Impressed. To save money, Council saves the finish work up to the buyer. Best tool I own so far.

Where did you get the handle from? My local Ace doesn't have that length of handle.
I am a woodworker/carpenter. I made the handle myself. I like a bit more length. My axe is usually carried on the outside of my pack where handle length is not an issue.

Say Heah Dave. yeah I used my new A S Guide at our Christmas Outing which turned out Aces. I decided to have my ordered William Collins Master Woodsman to be made also in CPM 3V and a 7"-7 1/2" blade and 3/16" thick with a White Handle with Black Liner's to match my Guide. Nice to see it used in the forest. I agree. That is a nice looking sheath. Love the 15" handle. The heartwood gives the handle character. My grandfather used to make axe handles using hickory wood. It just needs to be cured properly. He used shards of glass to shave the handle into shape. I appreciate you sharing.

I agree that it's all about care for the axe handle and should the handle eventually fail, one should always be prepared to re-handle. -Dave

What I like most about that axe is the standard size eye that lets you get a short hold that's secure. I'm sold, gotta have one. I also like the Hudson Bay pattern.

Say Heah Dave, Getting prepared to the next Axe season, I slowly bring out some out. AS soon as I brought my Hultafors Bruks Agdor 17" Hatcher, Right away realized why it's one of my Fav's, It's nothing fancy, But it's all Topsfield made and the grain and how I got the edge that was spot on to begin with, I like it because I can still transport it very comfortably even on person if I want, But most importantly how well it holds its edge, Talking about lacking out because I bought this as a closeout at a very good price. That's why I need your help with my new Axe Suze.

i love my hudson bay axe i use it more 5han any other axe i have i aint a very big guy so i think the weight is perfect for me and it cuts and splits like crazy i removed the black paint bc i felt like it had a lil drag to when doing finer work but thats just but i do i love it

The axe did a great job, and you did a great job demonstrating it. I agree that if I only had a knife or an axe (1 tool option), especially in winter, I would go with the axe. The axe also makes such a gratifying sound either when chopping or splitting and even carving. The sound is distinct to an axe. Good stuff.

Great to hear from you, Marco! This is an excellent axe that I use quite often for kindling and small pieces for our wood burning stove. It has some very good weight to it for splitting and the Hudson Bay pattern makes it excellent for chopping! Good video and a good axe. Competitors are Snow & Nealley Prebnoscot bay axe (similar size and profile, higher quality finish) and German Helko (also available via Helko North America) Traditional Bavarian forest hatchet. I have both of these and would rate them very highly indeed against any USA or Swedish made axe. That is not to detract from the standard council tool hatchet you describe. I find it an interesting review because its a hatchet I have contermplated purchasing but there is little point in view of the comments about the two I do have. I am sure this is a very fine general purpose axe and at 'bang for buck' is certainly very good VFM. I do agree that if I were to take one wood processing tool only into the forest it would be a versatile axe like this or the Snow and Nealley. I think it can do more than almost any hunting knife. I also think splitting fairly large rounds of firewood with a large, sharp outdoor knife is risky compared to with a hatchet on a base without medical help close at hand. Accidents do happen and help is often far enough away to consider seriously as a risk factor. Great video and very fair appraisal of a good tool. I think the Velvicut model is way overpriced, at least here in the UK where we tend to pay 1:1 £ for $US. For around £120 a Wetterlings or Gransfors Bruks of comparable price and function is way superior.

It's Meee again, I use you guys to learn from and question to learn, I understand Husqvarna Farnsworth out to make Axes for them, Up until 2011 Wetterlings made the Husqvarna Axe heh heh heh Wetterlings Axe. Since then Hultafors started making them, This played alot into me buying the Husqvarna over the Council, But like I've mentioned before Council isn't out of the picture, You see I like Scouting alot as my past time. So the Council Wood Craft PAK Axe will be a Axe of choice especially in colder weather because of its compactness and portability. Even my new Battle Horse Mad Hatter Machete, Yeah, It will be used a a clearing tool through the brambles. But I'm also going to try having the Grinds made similar to my Fav. Mora 2000. So I could also use my Machere as a Large Knife. And matching handles to my recently Modde Attitude, a nice Axe and Saw, I can still use it in the cold weather and not just as a warm weather tool. Even though the Mad Hatter is a thin blade at 3/32" thick. It's made in L6 which is a fairly strong steel. And besides I very seldom baton wood larger than my Modde Attitude could handle, And if I split the larger wood, Then the Axe is tool of choice, Task Specific, .. ,

Nice job demonstrating what that axe will do in the right hands. Thanks. I think I'd like the sheath more if it had a welt to keep the blade off the rivets. Not a big deal to add one though.
Thank you for watching and leaving you kind words, Bill! A welt would be nice with this one, however, its a full head axe that was included, so it was still an excellent deal. Also, the way the sheath is constructed, the edge only touches leather when in the sheath and there is also a bit of room so the edge is right up against the sheath. I do have a Council Tool axe sheath like this that does include the welt, it's just a bit more expensive. And you are exactly right, not a big deal to add one, DIY style! -Dave
Say Heah Dave, sitting here and pulling on a John Bull Cigarillo not wanting to light up a good cigar, and chasing it down with a hot cup of coffee debating whether to go out in a little while and brave the cold brrrrrrr, I think I'll pass today, It's about 5°f right now, But rain on Friday go figure. But I thought a few vids would make me go out, I don't think so, not today, I still haven't got use to the cold yet. But this caught my attention, Infact one of my Fav. Bush Hatchets is my 17" Hultafors Bruks Hatchet, Hultafors has made good axe for a long time now and I believe the steel is as good as the Gransfors Bruk's, I really wasn't in a the market to buy a hatchet anyways, But it was close to my B'Day last year and it was on a closeout because they were eliminating the Agdor Range, it's a European style without the ears like on some swiss made or my Small Forest Axe, But that doesn't bother me at all. the steel is what's good on it and in no time I had it as sharp as my G. B. But I like it for a few reasons, It's compact at only 17" and the head is a little over 1 3/4lbs. which adds just alittle more weight to fell with, and process firewood, Where my S. F. A. is only 2"+ longer and has a lighter head I think 1 1/2lbs head, to me they perform equal, But I carry my Agdor easier on person in my Axe Hokster, Their both about equal except for the little weight difference , Anyhow that's my $00.02 on that heh heh heh, My point is, I got lucky for getting such a good Hatchet for the $$$, we'll amigo, I think this coffee made me a little sleepy maybe it's my cigarillos, Who cares, This panzy is going back to bed. Nite, Nite. ,, .
Say Heah Dave, With the snow warnings and all, I going with my "Go To" This type of Tool's, I'm testing out my Piggyback Rodent 7 with my Rodent 3, Baldric Carry. I'm also taking my 24" Council Wood Craft Pack Axe with the Heavy Duty
Sheath and Sling. Also my Silky Bigboy2000 with sheath. Alot of Cold Weather Military Issue Gear will be tested too. But worst case scenario we won't be too far from the cabin. ,, .

Say Heah David, After a nice rest from our Thanksgiving weekend, I got out today with a new set, No, I had this gear already, It was a great warm day, But I took what is going to be my Go To Cold Weather Tool's. It starts with my Maxpedition Kodiak Gearsling, For my Cutting Tool's are my Rodent 7 and my Rodent 3, which I Piggyback and Baldric Carry the Knives. For my Axe, I went with my Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe. Oh, Don't get me wrong, my 24" Council Wood Craft Pack Axe with the Heavy Duty Sheath and Sling isn't out of the picture, But with my S. F. A. I can carry in the Axe Holster Eugene made me, the Council Wood Craft Pack Axe is still my Fav., but alittle more bulky. My Wicked Tough Saw is still my Fav., but in cold weather scouting, processing alot of firewood is very important, so I made my Silky Bigboy2000 with sheath part of this set. But I will pick and choose accordingly to the weather and stay. Usually I first look for small's, then I process dead fall. So yeah, today I just practices carrying my Maxpedition Kodiak and my Silky Bigboy2000 in the sheath on person on my Survival Belt with my Necessities Pouch. I like my Kodiak Gearsling because it's big, yet I sling it. I don't have a problem with Baldric carrying my Piggyback, and my G. B. Small Forest Axe is alot lighter than I expected. As you can see, that's why this will be my Cold Weather Go To Set, Yeah, It's very manageable. ,, .

Well last few days the weather was seasonally warm, It started to rain today, But all I did was pick my go to cold weather set, and I think I found it, I chose my Piggyback Rodent 7 and my Rodent 3 which I will Baldric Carry, In that carry its very manageable, and Ofcource Thanx to Eugene and his Axe Holster's I chose my G. B. Small Forest Axe over my 17" Hultafors Bruks Agdor Hatchet, first because it's a little lighter and I don't get as snagged up as in the blooming season. The folding Saw will be my Silky Bigboy2000 with sheath and Ofcource my Maxpedition Kodiak Gearsling, which I can attach at her gear to it. This will be my go to set until Warner weather, Oh, You know I won't be using it every time I go out, But when I go scouting new area's and overnighter's. I added a few posts to my Google Plus, go to Google Plus and search Paulie 4X and tell me what you think Ok. ,, .

Awhile ago, I found a Hultafors Bruks 17" Agdor Hatchet, Yup it became my Fav's Bushcraft Hatchet, I bought it as a closeout at a good price. The steel is excellent, they closed it out because they changed Ranges, but it works great. It's actually a European Style. Dilly Dilly.,,.p

Say Heah Dave, After playing around with my Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe with couple of different carries, It's back to my 17" Hultafors Bruks Agdor Hatchet with my Ratweiler and Rodent Solution makeshift Piggyback, Oh, don't get me wrong, It's as solid as ever, But It's my concoction, It's it alittle heavy, But even if I was just left along with my Ratweiler/Solution Piggyback, No worries, I will survive. Yeah, I practice these things then go out solo sometime, But yeah, I'm finding out that a 17" Hatchet will suffice even in the winter to Scout around with, But ofcource on longer stays, My 24" Council Wood Craft Pack Axe is my choice. ,, .

Oh, I also ordered my second Ka-Bar Limited Edition. My first one was the BK-20 Bundok Bowie, a 11" blade and 1/4" thick. It came with a BK-4 and a BK-5, there were only 450 Kits made. My second Limited edition came with the BK-29 Moses Bowie. It was named after Ka-Bars in-house knife designer. It comes with the BK-5 yeah, I have 3 BK-5's, but its Ok, their discontinued and I think their going to be collectors. and the Snody SnakeCharmer, Its a integral design and made in the S35Vn Stainless, It fell right into my lap, to add it as my neck knife. How Kewl is that, Yeah, I licked out. The difference between the two Bowies is a 1/4" but the Moses Bowie has a stronger tip and looks more Bowie like with that clip point.,,.
Say Heah Dave, I just got my Steel Will Druit 240, and what a pleasant surprise fir the $$$, But I'm teaming mime with a Japanese Hatchet the Silky Nada 240 with the Double Grind Edge, I asked Virtuevice and he suggested the double grind edge for bush craft because it splits better, I just know it's going to be a nice combo. ,, .

Say Heah Dave, This weekend, I was going to take my Rold/Classic #1 with my Estwing Double Bit Hatchet and my Bacho Laplander. But at the last second, I took my Ratweiler with my makeshift Piggyback with my Rodent Solution and just the Bacho. The reason on Friday we were to be 70°f, and by Sunday snow grrrrrrrr. So that's why my Ratweiler Piggyback, I want to practice how if a storm hits like it once happened to us, I wanted to see how my this set-up would fare. And so far it's doing great, But the snow hasn't come yet, All we stocked up on was flour, powder milk, stuff to make banock, jelly and butter, Oh, pre made bacon. But we're in a cabin, But outside the door we'll cook, This is just practice, Oh, Off the highway not too far are Mc Dee's and B. K's, But we try rough housing it, So I can check out what I brought, Some guys went out to eat, I just wanted to test my gear and like I said, That Ratweiler is a great One Tool Option, The Saw defenetly helps, So yeah, I think I would beable to survive carrying my set-up, Yeah, Council Tools Rock, and Thanx for suggesting my 24"Council Wood Craft Pack Axe with the trimmings. ,, .

Actually I'm ready to do a solo very soon with my Ratweiler and Rodent Solution concocted Piggyback with either 17"Hultafors Bruks Agdor Hatchet or my Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe and my Silky Bigboy2000 with sheath and my Maxpedition Kodiak Gearsling. I could easily carry my 24" Council Wood Craft Pack Axe with the Heavy duty Sheath and Sling too, even with my Gearsling, Success. ,, .

Thank you for a well presented review of this axe. This is a romantic design conjuring images of voyageurs and 17th Century traders. Like many young men, I yearned to find an axe of this pattern. I came across a German made hatchet of this pattern and later a Norlund Voyageur pattern hatchet. Later still I found a larger Norland HB pattern. I was very pleased with the steel in these hatchets and axe and I thought I was set up for a long and happy relationship with them, however...unfortunately, I found a fundamental flaw in their design, that was the depth of the eye. It is a question of basic physics that creates the problem with the design. The amount of leverage when removing the axes/ hatchets and the brutal impact of chopping over a period results in loosening of the haft in the eye, or worse, shearing off below the eye. Of course the weakness is compounded the longer the haft. If this pattern had a huge eye, somewhat like the old Russian and Siberian axes, the problem would not be so much of an issue as a result of the mass. Of course, hafting of these axes should only be done with the very finest of materials, unless frequent re-hafting is a pleasurable pastime.

Yeah certainly find a Rinaldi american boys axe does everything they can but with a tomahawk style handle so no problem loosening. I have the 28 inch handle on my hudson council and I cant work out why they would be used over just a heavier tomahawk. Its awesome when its not loosening but thats seldom the case.
Say Heah Dave, I've been practicing with my Ratweiler and my Rodent Solution Piggyback I concocted, The Kydex Sheath's were made by two different people, Because one needed the knife to make both Sheath's, So one made one sheath and the other sheath was made by the guy that didn't need for me to send my knife in, The Ratweiler Sheath I ordered with a Dangle carry and a Horizontal carry, So I took the straps and put them together that snapped close and put them through the Tec-Loc I placed on the Solution sheath, This way when I'm in camp and settled down, I can just wear my Rodent Solution, It's worked out super, I had to share this, That's why I wear the Ratweiler on the vertical dangler carry and the Rodent Solution is cocked a little upward for easy excess. And when I wear just my Rodent Solution it's still a little forward, But it's all good. I got lucky. ,, .
Say Heah Bro, Even though I had a Estwing in a similar size, infact I have the three sizes and now the new Double Bit Hatchet which is becoming one of my Fav's hatchers. I like surfing the web and saw a closeout on one Hultafors Bruks 17 " Agdor range Hatchet and I bought it,It came spot on everything was even including the grain and edge. It wasn't as sharp as my C B Small Forest Axe but it didn't take long at all to get my Agdor as sharp. It's becoming one of my Fav's. But for on person carry my 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet and my WarBeast are my Fav's. In colder weather I had a Iltis heavy thin face into a House Axe and even though it's a very thin 5" face I have no problem what so ever to split wood with it, I like Axe Tap with it too because of the shear weight it just glides tgrough wood. I have a Norlund Tomahawk Hatchet, It's a Mini Hatchet and not a tomahawk but I bought it for around $20.0₩ at the pawn shop, I will need to put a new heft on it. I also got lucky with my Kobalt which I picked the best out of the litter at H D with a fiberglass handle and it's holding a decent edge it's a 14" hatchet. But my next axe will be a 25"-26" axe, I never got into axe before, but now "I don't leave the house without it".

I have a Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe and had a House a axe made from a 5" very thin face but heavy Iltis Oxhead I had it hanged on a 19" White Hickory Handle the shear weight blasts through the wood and chips pretty good moderate size dead fall. But I Axe Tap with it and it's save and easy. I do have a 26" Estwing too but I usually don't use it because so far my S.F.A. dies pretty good. I just want to get a good one in that size. I'm thinking of going with a Hultafors Bruks Kisa.
Say Heah Dave, Yeah, It was practice as usual. It was short because of the very cold weather where ee were . But I took my Piggybacked Rodent 7 and Rodent 3 one of my Fav. Go To Baldrik Carry, I also used my Maxpedition Kodiak Gearsling that on the side I could slide my G. G. Small Forex Axe with no problem and prolly other's. I also attached my Wicked Tough Saw Combo on the back, and my Necessities Pouch right on the front part of the belt sling for easy excess where everything is right there and on, that I don't have to take it off to start a fire to getvwarm. Yeah, This set up passed with flying colors as far as a good scouting set of gear to use in cold weather. I could also use my Fallkniven A-1/Cold Steel Mini Pendleton clmbo in wet or snowy conditions, But my Swambirs Rock as my Go To Set's, Even with my Rodent 9 and Rodent Combo. But in the summer my Rucki/Ratmandu combo side by side is a good one too to clear through the brambles, LaterZ. ,,.

But in the cold weather use, I'm bringing my G. B. Small Forest Axe instead. It's just a few inches longer and it might be as lite as my Agdor, I'll start refining my Cold Wet and Snowy Weather Carry prolly starting mannyanna. ,, .

Say Heah Dave, You need to look into the Steel Will Knives, I got the Druid 240 because I like around a 4 3/4"+ Bush Craft Knife plus I already have a good 6" blade in my Puma Bowie2, But they also come smaller. The price is great and the 9Cr18MoV is very good too. Yeah , Check them out. ,, .

A. is alittle lighter, Where my Agdor is heavier but more compact, It does use its weight to my advantage making short work out of processing firewood, and carries alittle more compact, Yeah, a tough choice. ,, .

I can't say that I KNOW that this is true but my understanding is that Council tool uses one kind of steel for all their axes and the difference between their regular line and the Velvicut line is the extra machining and polishing of the head and the quality of the handle.

Say Heah Dave, Lugging my Ochsenkopf Axe OX 620 H 1257 with the RotBand Plus in hand isn't that bad, I made a makeshift Baldric Carry, But I only used it for the big stuff, My O. K. C. Ranger T. F. I. which I cross draw side by side vertical carry worked out great, The Gen2 SP-53 is like having a Hatchet for tge smaller stuff, My Ranger T. F. I. Did a fantastic job splitting up the Kindling, My Silky Bigboy2000 with Sheath allowed me to size up my wood, Yeah, I think I did it Ole, .. , Sorry Dave, I was just clowning around, But yeah, For a reasonalably priced knives, They performed beautifully, Infact, I could put them up against some higher prices knives, like the Junglas and my BK-9, and my Ranger RD-9 which are some of my Fav's, we'll not the Junglas because I don't have one, But my friend does. ,, . . ,, .

I just had this and a video on a bahco axe in my recommended videos and the heads look identical only this one and the bahco. one is black vs orange but otherwise they look identical. The paint is even stripped off the same exact pattern.

Have to be honest, loved the video, the axe looks great. Sheath looks basic. Lack of a welt is the big Tell. A quality axe cover is going to have a thick, burnished leather welt in front of the cutting edge. Making one without a welt is just easier and cheaper. To charge $25 for that sheath? Just a bit overpriced for what you're getting.
I mean a lack of a welt generally isn't a big deal if it's on an axe that isn't used much at all, or doesn't ride around much in the back of a vehicle. But I'll never forget when I recently received my Made in America "Boy's axe" from a certain company. (Admittedly not Council Tool.) It came with a good leather blade cover. But no welt. During transport, even with the head properly wrapped and protected, the edge came through the leather cover near the top. Cutting into it. Making the cover useless. Thankfully it was cut open in such a way that I could fix it. Piece of cardboard shaped to fit, some very strong industrial glue, and one of the best clamps that I own.... Two hours later, a decent fix. Trimmed the excess hardened glue with a razor. Now the cover is functional again. _However_ with a proper sheath/cover, none of that would have been necessary. Shouldn't have been necessary.

We pegged out big time, Alot of Football and Munchies, Yeah, I had my Puma Bowie2, my 4" Weidmannshiel my Estwing Sportsman Hatchet and my Bond Folding Saw that looks like those Egg Shape Handle Saw's that look like the Corona Lanier ?, Anyhow, I'm glad I'm home, Because of the nice weather reports, Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday, I'll refine my Rodent 7 and Rodent 3 Piggyback and see what I could add and refine, So far I think my Hatchet will be my Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe and my Silky Bigboy2000 with sheath, I think this will be a great set to scout and play in the Emerald Necklace where I live, , I also could go South or East, Good area's. I did get lucky, a nice lady took me home with her, so I didn't need to drive at all this weekend, pretty good, eah. ,, .

Hey Dave! Nice review. You're exactly right about the grain stuff. I live in a country town so I've seen MANY tool handles with bad grain last for decades of hard use.
More importantly, how does this axe compare to the Husquvarna Carpenter Ace? I want something packable that can fell 5 inch or so saplings (even if it takes moderate effort) but still be light enough that I can do stock removal for carving bows or utensils. Can you recommend one over the other for those chores? Also what's the edge durability with the 1060 on the Council Tool vs the swedish steel on the Husquvarna?

I would recommend this council tool axe over the Husqvarna carpenters axe, however, if you are up for some re-profiling of the carpenters axe, it may work just fine for you. I really like the Hudson Bay pattern and size of the council tool. Also, I have used it much more and edge retention is excellent! -Dave
Ohh, I also have a rare Randall #14, It's a O1, and a 7 1/2" blade with a Griffin Handle which is a One finger Groove with Black Micarta Polished Handle. But my Randall #18 is rare because Randall uses a 440b on their Stainless Steel Blades, We'll when I ordered mine they said because they got a good price on some 440c. Stainless, Mine is made in the 440c., Mine also is in the Attack mode with a knureled handle that's Silver Soldered and because I wanted the Compass the cap had to be brass so I also upted to have the Hilt made brass that made a beautiful contrast, I also had the saw back spine, a nice survival knife that I trust with my life, It's a killer. But I do have other Hollow Handle Knives that I trust with my life, Like my issue Buckmaster #184 and I just picked a Bianchi #1 Nighthawk, Mine is rare because it doesn't have the word Nighthawk on it but in larger letters it has Bianchi, I also have a Tomahawk Brand that at that time were made in the U. S. A. at that time Tomahawk Brand were made in the U. S. A. it's in 440c. and at that time it was, one of the largest knives made, and was used for hog hunting, ofcource you needed a long blade. It's seen alot of action and yet it's as solid as the day I bought it. I also have a Bokor Aprarro Hollow Handle Survival Knife, I can baton it, and it's very solid, Infact a Martin Aparro starts around $500.00 their made in the 154 C M, and I also trust my Russian made in NB1-01 the 65G carbon steel is their truck spring steel it's a 6" recurve and made at the Izshmas Plant where they make the Russian AK's . It's my NV1-01 because the B's are V's in Russian and it's written like the NB1-01 Professional Survival Knife, Yeah it's used by their special forces., So yeah, I told you my cigar habit holds me back from having collection like yours. ,, .

Say Heah Dave, I always knew the G. B. Small Forest Axe was outstanding, I haven't used it yet this week, But from past experience it performed great. The weather is great, warm, But rain grrrrrrrr , So back to maybe my A-1 with my Mini Pendleton or my Arvensis 119 with my Coye Ridgeback, I just rested my Bowie2 and my Weidmannshiel. But I was also thinking of using my 1990 vintage TrailMaster in San Mai 3 and my Master Hunter in the same steel, No worries, I think of something heh heh heh Oh yeah, The S. F. A. is going to get some use time. ,, .

Say Heah Dave, I think I found a Diamond in the Rough, It's my newest hiking, Fanwood searching and on not so cold Afternoon Delight set heh heh heh, Actually I got it because it's Stainless, I usually carry a neck knife along with a belt knife, The reason is, they say the best knife is the one that's on you. We'll I have two. Yeah, a axe of some sort and a Folding Saw, But with this new set, I decided to be a Wannabe Nessmuk and I went and added a Bokor Plus Tec-Tool 2.8in, I have a Victorinox Delemont Collection Ranger 78, But I got the Phillips instead of the Corkscrew, I use it to untangle paracord, works great. Oh, I also added my Estwing Double Bit Hatchet with one side for felling and the other side to split, That's how I have the angles. Say Heah Dave, Eating, Smoking Cigars, I was told not to take the band off a cigar early until the glue on the band softens up, and it won't split the cigars then, Someone seen my cigar split a little and told me about it. But the cigars I brought with me are Grand Pearla not Black Pearl those are great too, But these Grand Pearla are nice floral complex cigars that have a slight banana taste, Delish. And no it's not a flavored cigar, Just a great blend of rare tabacco. I hope I can get up early, But If I don't, maybe the coffee will help heh heh heh. ,, .

I just completed my Wannabe Nessmuk Trio, By buying my Adventure Sworn Guide, I had the Rough Rider Moose Pattern Slipjoint Pocket Knife and my excact copy of the 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet that he used that he had custom made for him, Infact mine is a close copy to his, When I first took it out of tge box, I said "Hell, No, not a miniature" , , , But then I realized he was a small stature man, and I'm not. Well, I'm not as heavy as I was when I played Outside Linebacker, But anyhow, I have my Nessmuk (looking) Knife, The Moose Pattern Slipjoint Pocket, and the Double Bit Hatchet, I'll let you know if Nessmuk had one over me heh heh heh

Did you see it, I like getting into a designers head and what sparked him, If you watch Chris Tanner's video on his Tromentina modification, Listen to what he said modifying the tip, Then he never did a O. K. C. Gen2 SP-53 video even though it's Infact better than some of his chopper's, But William Collins, Chris and some other Nessmuk similarities designers, have similarities in common. A Bolo style was designed as one of the greatest tools made by man, It chops, and if you can't afford multi tools, you can carve with it, The Camel back on a butcher knife was a good idea, But it's more to zip open game. Not in Bush Craft, Cody and W. C. Made theirs alittle slimmer, And William added a Dual Grind after playing around with the military used Mora 2000 it's all there, Infact William even said this, All knife concepts have been thought of. But back to the Jessmuk, Yeah, It's just a modified SP-53, with what Chris liked to do with hisTramintina Machete, I think he used a SP-53 modified the tip Chris a La Chris way and bingo, The Jessmuk, I always wanted a Nessmuk Knife in around a 5+" blade, But LT, and Battle Horse didn't make that size, They kept it around 4., well in my opinion, You need about a 5" blade to be able to span a small piece of wood when you baton, smaller knives and you beat just the tip, For me it's not enough. I also like the 3V, My first 3V was when Rod Garcia made my Skookum Bush Tool, I fell in luv with it instantly, it holds a great edge retention. I almost bought a Bark River Nessmuk, Very similar to my Guide, but I luv the handle better on my Guide and the B R is in A2, I like 3V. But alot of carvers have Curved bellies that stem from a Bolo concept. and by doing so, It allows a smaller knife chop. ,, .
