- What is Christmas in Australia like?
I spend Christmas in a small country town 90 minutes drive from Perth in Western Australia. Christmas here is dramatically different to what many of you will experience in your hometowns.
Christmas in Australia is all about the outdoors, having fun with family on the beach or dining alfresco with your friends at home.
This video highlights the differences between a summer Christmas and a winter Christmas  and I’ll be well keen to hear how your Christmas differs from mine; so please comment.

As an American, it is SO strange to see Christmas trees up and people walking around in shorts in a bright sun. The two just do not go together in my mind lol
A first responders day is never done. Good on them.

I am originnally from Perth and still have family their. Every 3/4 years we go back to visit for christmas. This video made me feel like I was back in Australia for christmas ❤

I live in South Africa and it's exactly the same!
Boxing Day test was in fact played in Adelaide in 1967, 1972, and 1976.....not ALWAYS in Melbourne, that has been the case though since 1980.

Been to Lancelin a few times, amazing place especially during the summer time!
It’s bloody Windy in January though.
Appreciate the video seems strange for a northern Swede to not have snow on Christmas and spend time on a beach 😂 with that being said I would not mind the heat as we have -28c this morning !brrrrrr

I served a leg of lamb from Australia at Christmas dinner this year! At Costco in Minnesota it was approximately $24 for 5 pounds. I cooked it in the stove, not on the grill; it was warm and rainy this year, not snowy! Still not warm enough for the beach though!

Looks like you had a good Christmas, and are enjoying the break of the F1 Offseason... Just to add to the Christmas Crackers, In the UK they are common, fairly normal to see them around Christmas, sometimes even at New Years' celebrations as well.
So It just must be America that doesn’t have them

That's amazing that your Mrs. is an ambulance driver. My only concern is how fast the ambulance would arrive for emergencies if the staff are at their homes and have to go pick up the ambulance from the ambulance station, I'm assuming. A small town probably can't provide immediate service like big cities, so is this setup still considered to be worthwhile for saving people? Here in Texas we have some cities with volunteer fire fighting departments, but I think they wait out their shifts at the station to go out quickly on call.
She’s a first responder. And they arrive quicker at local jobs than paid crew in the city. There are no paid staff in Lancelin or surrounding towns. It’s vollies or nothing.
Green flash is sunlight shining through the ocean you can see it due to the curvature of the Earth.

I lived in Sydney during the 90s The weather was mostly rainy from memory on Xmas week. I could never get used to the reversal of seasons from the Northern Hemisphere....
And drama at the airport.

Cool. My family gave me the Lego McLaren F1 last Xmas. If you like fussy details (as a photographer, you probably do) you'll enjoy it. This year, they gave me the Lego Land Rover Defender.

Nothing like celebrating the birth of the baby Jesus by eating good food with family and sitting on the sofa watching the telly. My friend just said, his family call them Christmas crackers to the smaller kids 2-4 so they understand that they're supposed to pop and make a noise.
