Drugs can unlock schizophrenia earlier than it would've started on its own. Drugs can also cause psychosis in people with bipolar disorder. So basically drugs can and will make someone with brain abnormalities go insane.

Yeah its crazy how people undermine the long term effects of drugs. Any kind of medications as well.. I took SSRI antidepressant for several years, and its been two years since I've weaned off completely and im still dealing with withdrawal syndrome. It changes your brain more than you think, and Im sure its permanent. So Im very skeptical about any kind of medications and drugs..

Great comment! I did want to mention that it’s unclear to what extent things like drugs play in being the actual cause of these disorders. But drugs certainly have been shown to increase the likelihood of their development. Schizophrenia is known as a “threshold trait” which is based on a bunch of factors that contribute to the manifestation of a trait (both environmental and genetic factors like specific genes), however the traits are “all or nothing” you have the schizophrenia “phenotype” or you don’t. Threshold referring to an unknown “amount” of schizophrenic factors you must posses before going over some arbitrary threshold into developing schizophrenia.
These factors obviously aren’t all known or to what extent they contribute to development. There does seem to be a strong environmental factor with schizophrenia and I believe more “social” environmental factors rather than drugs (don’t quote me on this part tho). So even if you have every genetic risk factor & take drugs you may never develop it. Everyone should asses their own risk. But it’s incorrect to say that taking drugs + having an existing mental disorder = schizophrenia.

More like he became depressed because he stopped his gear use. I remember no one knew exactly why he stopped at the time but many people speculated that it was because he was going bald. (you can look up photo's showing his hairline receding massively) Derek also talked about it. After taking steroids for so long and then stopping your body won't produce any test on its own anymore for a very long time. Also the psychological effect of seeing your physique completely deteriorating takes a massive hit on your mental health. These things combined make you depressed and happens to a lot of people once they come off steroids.

My friends and I watched someone we knew and love for years, who had a future ahead of him, turn into someone you can’t feel safe around.
I know plenty of other people who have taken psychedelics without any destructive mental side effects. They’re still just “normal” everyday people.

I knew someone who took LSD (not microdosing) everyday for several months. They started seeing shit without even being high. Thankfully they stopped but it took them a couple of mental breaks to stop. I think LSD can expand one's mind, but it can also alter brain chemistry and probably turn someone crazy after long-term constant use. Just be careful if you take drugs and don't take more than you need.

Doctors and studies may be pointing towards treatments with these drugs and it's great but ya gotta be safe as you should be with alcohol, caffeine or any other mind-body altering substance.

I suffered from depression for a long time but with the help of lsd I was able to feel connected to the universe/people around me for the first time in years. Shrooms also help with anxiety but they must be done in the right setting where you feel safe and are feeling fairly stable. However, if you do it in the wrong setting it can give you ptsd. I've had trips where I'm convinced my parents are dead or that we're all trapped in hell. Basically psychedelics need to be respected, done in a safe setting, and (idealy) you should talk to a doctor or thearapist about the potential risks/benefits before pursuing their use.

I have bipolar 1 and had my first psychotic break while I was couch surfing during the pandemic. I was homeless. This was only after drinking, smoking weed, and taking Kratom and abusing my anti-depressants. It was the most embarrassing shit. I don’t remember anything really. I’m a scientifically minded person and an agnostic atheist. All I remember was thinking that everyone was godlike, and thinking the government was coming to put in a concentration camp and kill me because I had the knowledge that if I committed suicide my consciousness would be reincarnated in the body of an other animal somewhere else in the universe. I remember thinking I communicate with nature and interlock telepathically with everything. I remember hearing voices, someone calling my name, thinking the universe was a quantum computer, and hallucinating things that were not there like dead bodies. Genuinely bizarre beliefs. It was the scariest shit. I thought I was never coming back. Needless to say it freaked my friends out and they took me to the nearest mental hospital. Because I was saying weird shit and not making sense using words that didn’t exist. This is why I avoid shit like shrooms, lsd and dmt or anything seriously mind altering unless I’m guided by a clinician. It took me a week to come back to reality. This hits home to me. Apparently I tried to kiss my friends ex, and even my friend, and said shit about killing people. It was terrifying because I’m not a violent person and it scared the shit out me that I would say shit like that. Disturbing. I don’t even remember saying those things. Psychedelics helped treat me of similar things and I believe they hold the most ancient of secrets. His mom called me to find out what kind of drugs he was on. I did not know, as I had stopped talking to him a few months before because of the way he was acting.

Meditation, working out, drinking lots of water and make sure you have sandal incense sticks while you meditate, aroma allows our brain to stay sane and sober. Listen to Veena(instrumentals specially) while you meditate by taking deep breaths. Ita all about keeping your mind sober and yoga does helps. I'm about to turn 25 as well and my job doesn't let me breathe,it's hectic and to keep myself sane i do all this stuff. Please get rid of weed(doesn't matter you take them occassionally or not)that might add more negative weight towards schizophrenia and might lead towards heavy hallucinations.

Weed can cause psychosis/unlock schizophrenia. Just don't loose your focus on what's real. I had/have psychosis after a liquid psilocybin trip where I thought everything was a simulation for fun/learning, that I was getting Truman showed (more accurately that we took turns being Truman showed), and that the universe was communicating with me through peoples conversation, music, and tv. Basically that synchronicity had significance. Since that experience weed would always "reactivate" that state where synchronicity was constant but I was always fine if I remembered I was safe, not giving into paranoia.

I’d say the best advice I could give you would be to try to keep your life as stress free as possible. Psychosis and other extreme states are usually triggered by traumatic/very stressful occurrences in life. The brain needs to over compensate for something. It doesn’t usually just happen out of the blue, I’m fairly sure. Another good thing to remember is that psychosis/mania/etc doesn’t always have to be a solely negative experience. Speaking from the perspective of someone who’s dealt with both, there are pros and cons. It’s not all bad, it’s just a brain that works differently, in a way that our society is not built for. Experiencing psychosis or something similar to it is not the end of the world. Schizophrenia is also widely misrepresented in media (including this video) and much more complex than just being certain positive symptoms of psychosis. I recommend psychosispositivity on Instagram as a good resource for general info if you’re interested..! (Not trying to insinuate you don’t know about this just generally speaking)

Ofc shitty things in life also contributed to this. I have also seen complete mental deterioration from getting addicted to the "spiritual lifestyle" -people are just searching for something in life and in your 20s everything is so confusing. And psychedelics too... bc yes those things CAN help, if done safely and properly and tbh probably with someone to watch you and even Doctors do Ketamine dosages now. Doing LSD, DMT or any of those things EVERY DAY, let alone multiple times a day..it's so so bad for you....and hard to explain but your brain just becomes complete....weirdness. DMT is NOTHING like mushies or LSD. It's wayyyy more crazy.

Ayahusca is a mixture of nn-dmt and an MAOI which allows the nn-dmt to be absorbed. Psilocybin from mushrooms is converted to psilocin in the body, psilocin is the active compound - 4-ho-dmt - which is a dimethyl triptamine, and it does have similar effects to ayahuasca and low doses of vapourised nn-dmt.

Connor Murphy Shirtless on the Roof of Chipotle is such a hilarious and iconic title, it should be engraved on a rock somewhere.

DMT has caused a lot of people to psychologically break down developing thing like a god complex and it usually is exasperated by excessive use

@@michaelboulos3272 psychedelics have incredible untapped potential, but don't act like they're safe for everyone. ppl with high anxiety are predisposed to developing schizophrenia on high doses of psychedelics.

to edit my previous comment, "history of anxiety" is sort of a generalization. there are specific genes you can test for that have have been shown to increase your risk for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. i urge anyone reading this to take one of these tests before expirementing with high doses of these drugs

@@armanmanasyan8707 As someone who is currently working to get a degree in this field. I just want to nitpick one part of this. it's not about anxiety, but yes if you have family history of schizophrenia you should not use ANY dosage of a psychedelic. Even small doses can bring an early onset.

Wait I don’t understand how you can intake ayahuasca every two hours. I’ve done it before and this has to be a blatant lie. Does it mean he would consume more while already high which doesn’t even sound possible considering you also have to fast for like 12 hours. Or did he not fast beforehand making it basically non effective? Or maybe he just switched to smoking dmt?

I was a personal assistant to a multi-millionaire who was off his rocker and he wrote the pope and the president and top scientists & several people inviting them to come to Nashville to see the solar eclipse a few years ago, I had to write those letters and it was funny, no one responded, but he was telling everybody how he had talked to the Sun, and the central Sun Sagittarius a-star, I lost my job because sometimes I would talk back to him and not believe his stories, like he had the ark of the covenant. It's another story how I met him through a vice Lord and a prostitute

I barely know anything about LSD or Psychedelics in general but I think you should take these when you're ready, in a good mood and you have a lot of time, in a quiet place like being on Vacation for days or something like that, like I don't get it when people take it in the middle of a big City and then the next morning they go to work, I could be wrong but from what I've heard taking it like that sucks, you wanna be kind of isolated from stress and disconnect yourself from your work and any pressure.
