❤ i am just having so much FUN watching this collection, being revealed. I wish the person who sold them, will find a comfort in knowing that their love and passion will be continued, and won't be hurting too badly. Thank you, for taking the time to show us :)
When refurbishing sticky plastics, i use a 50-50 hisopropilic alcohol and olive oil… it’s somehow cleaning and rehidrating. Not sure how abrassive would be the alcohol on that old paint, but maybe you can try it. Hope it helps
In my experience as a collector and completionist, I hit a point where I snap and whatever I had been feverishly collecting becomes absolutely worthless and meaningless to me, I'm 63 and over the years this has happened multiple times... 🤗
That does sound familiar. Don't act hasty when getting rid of anything, sometimes its better to keep the items packed away or out of sight. I just got my promo model collection out of the closet after at least 5 years and I am happy to see them again.
To remove and stabelise the sticky paint try wood furniture wax spray ( i use Pledge) it wont damage or remove paint , will feed and shine up the paint and the plastics,it will also fill up small scratches in the clear plastics like the windows . alcohol instead will slightly remove paint and will dry out the plastic.( alcohol will be good to remove paint from plastics) It also wont damage the water decalls but dont use the wood wax on the paper decalls because they will absorb the wax.
I have 2 regular wheel Matchbox vehicles you did not show 1 is the Jeep Gladiator pickup truck red in color with opening doors and the 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix also red with opening doors.
For some models, there were chemical reactions on some batches of paint - usually if stored in a humid environment for years, although there is a theory that a few of the earlier plastic Matchbox carrycases caused it. As Dave said in the video, the most common model for this problem is the 25 Ford Cortina, most of them now have this sticky paint, but in this collection unusually, it's fine and quite rare.
Believe me a collection like this is rare. I get someone offering me "Loose and Used" Matchbox cars almost everyday. And a collection like this is once every 3 to 5 years. I did not plan to buy any Matchbox this year but BOXES well I had to have them. Have you seen my 1964 store display? ruclips.net/video/sB1hI15rC0E/видео.html
How are you going mate my name is Tony I'm from Sydney Australia I use to have all of those when I was a kid I'm trying to collect them and get them back can you help me and how much do you sell them for each please can you let me know thanks Tony
I would love to buy some from you but postage from America is ridiculous to Australia. Most I buy are from mega Die cast fairs we have in Australia or from England. Postage from the UK is a third of the US price sorry.
Even the chipboard boxes are in terrible shape. Someone just hasn't been taken care of them too well. They've been abused too much. They were supposed to be kept in a special presentation museum. Something that was supposed to be on display only. 🙄 😒 😕 😐 😑 🙃 🙄 🎉
Every time you find a sticky car you seem to press your fingers into the paint. Leaving fingerprints on these cars is not a good idea for future collectors.
The VW with silver hubs is a beaut.

You're a beast , moving the cars and boxes very quickly , you have the money but you don't have senstivity.
