  • 20-year old factory sealed Hot Wheels cases! This is how Mattel used to provide their Hot Wheels cars. It was still a 72-count assortment of basic cars but it was one level, not two. They stopped using this style in the early 2000's so I have no idea what is going to be inside.
It was fantastic that each case had a Treasure Hunt!
What are Hot Wheels Treasure Hunts or Super Treasure Hunts?
    • What Is A Hot Wheels T...
This was far before Mattel started to implement base codes on the models which indicated when they were produced.
You'll see Ferrari models! This is when Mattel still had the license. A few of the cars in this case went through the Hot Wheels Final Run series which means, they will never be produced again. That includes Street Roader, Tank Truck, Alien, Radar Ranger, Dodge Charger Daytona, Cat-A-Pult, Buick Wildcat and Big Chill.

Jump to 3:50 to skip the backstory! Remember to stick around for the second case unboxing, the case comparisons plus the licensed/fantasy models count! Since I started collecting in 1998, I have plenty of these cars already so all of these will be sold on eBay!

KB Toys was great! I shopped there when I moved to New Orleans....along with Toys 'R' Us, Kmart, Walmart, Service Merchandise, Target...and other places that sold Hot Wheels and NASCAR diecast. KB Toys had an Outlet store in an Outlet Mall in Gulfport MS right off of I-10. My buddy and I used to find all sorts of cars at that outlet store. Still have a lot of them. But...I have been collecting Hot Wheels since the first came out. How I wish that I still had the 100's of HW's me and my 3 brother's had!!! I am 63 years old, and I can guarantee you we had all of the initial Hot Wheels.

11:39 I have that #66 Panoz with black interior brand new too. I had one as kid back in the late 90's but I destroyed it(still have the remains somehow lol), then about a year ago I asked in a local HW Facebook club if anybody had one for sale, so a guy contacted me saying he was willing to give me an almost brand new one for free with only shipping fees so I was very lucky to find this variation again. I love these 90's Hotwheels.

Mark, do you remember in the 98 or 99 collection could be 2000 collection the Dragon series, it had a graphic of the Chinese dragons on the sides, I ahve the entire collection, and a ton of these you just unboxed, I re-started my collection in 89 after I moved and lost my 67 collection in the vinyl carry case in a move!! *Cries* I had a ton of stuff, the original red baron with the black Iron cross and pointy top helmet, the Chaparral, betnik bandit, the club EXCLUSIVE Boss Hoss you could only get when you sent in, a proof of purchase! *Cries* I had the Python, and a few Deoras! I had a green and a purple one! I had the nitty gritty kitty, the heavy chevy, and a few sizzlers! Fun cars! Miss them dealy especially my metallic Pink Sand Crab! Loved that with the smoke top! I lost all them in a stupid move! *cries*

I was still collecting all the HW's in 1998. I had every car, including TH's in 1998. I think they started with the red car and switched to the blue car on the card later in the year. There were a few variations on the interiors of some cars, and if you had the rarer of the two...you could get really good money for them on eBay.

Hello, Mark. At about 14:20, you're wondering if there are any Metal base/Metal body models still in the HW basics. There are - the VW Beetle issued in the recent 'Chess' sub-set. I made sure that I got a black and a white one when I found this out, and it's a satisfyingly heavy little model. Nice to see more videos from you. I understand completely why you had to cut your content, but I really miss the Weekend Show, and Truckin' Tuesday. Hope everything is good, though. I love a lot of these old models - I bought several of them, back in the day, for my niece, whose mum used to race Minis, and was a little girl who much preferred toy cars to dolls. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, both had the country of origin on the base. What I didn't catch was that the there was a variation for the Panoz. The door tampo is different and different color interiors. I sold one pair but will wait until April for the other pair. www.ebay.com/itm/Panoz-GTR-1-1998-First-Edition-New-Model-Hot-Wheels-BOTH-VARIATIONS/352623549091?hash=item521a005aa3:g:0S0AAOSwXetclA31

I have a few of these from my very young childhood I swear I had that Cat A Pult but I lost it years ago also a Double Vision with its engine removed and only the grey part with the exhausts remain which is probably in a tub full of my Childhood Hot Wheels. I also have an on Card Double Vison that I bought off ebay when I was in middle school.
Also what's interesting is a small amount of very early 1998s were on 1997 blister cards which I don't think has happened since.

I loved the Flame Stopper as a child. Would love to get my hands on it again someday! Thanks for the nostalgia!

Love these older hot wheels, I've found a pile of them from this era and early 2000s at my local hobby shop (sadly about to close down after 67 years). This was a really great time capsule! Requesting Cat-a-pult for Track Time pls.

I’m finding a lot of NIB 98-99 Hot Wheels at the collector shops right now. It is weird to me too...this is when I stated collecting again and some of these I’ve never seen...lol. Thank you!

17:54 I still have hope that the Dairy Delivery returns to the basics. It would probably be retooled to have a plastic body though.

"What a Drag" is a custom BMW Isetta "bubble car" that Hot Wheels commissioned.

You were correct about Corgi selling off the castings to Hot Wheels. Being from the UK I have both the Corgi versions and Hot Wheels version of the Land Rover Defender van, the licence/number plates on both the Corgi and Hot Wheels versions are exactly the same.
Also had a few of these Hot Wheels cars when I was little. So it brings back memories. Catapult was my favourite.
