She started working professionally in her home country of the Philippines at age 7 (on stage in The King and I), played her first lead role at age 9 (Annie), released her first album at 10 (which certified gold), and had a musical tv show from ages 12-14. She originated the role of Kim in Miss Saigon in the West End and on Broadway, winning all major awards. She was the first non-white Eponine in Les Miserables on Broadway in 1993.
