Theodens speech man shit gives me chills the entire time
Death!!
"Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!"
Yes but i think thats because of the crowd and the music build up not his words. He kept it simple everytime, also in Helms deep
DEAAAAAATH!!!
Yeah same. It makes me want to charge lol
1. Theoden’s Speech: the most inspirational
2. Aragorn’s Speech: the most courageous
3. Sam’s Speech: the most heartfelt
4. Boromir’s Speech: the most stately
I'd personally switch up 1 & 2 but I see what you're saying
@@michaelu3055 lol, likewise 👍 RIP Bernard Hill (King Theoden)
@@alexziolkowski6858 RIP king Theoden, go join your ancestors in whose mighty company you shall be welcomed
Gandalf's speeches Moria and minias tirith: most comforting and hopeful
Definitely my favorite, sadly may need to use it in real life
Theoden's speech at the battle, and Sam's speech also get me right in the feels
100% on both counts
hear it in German Trust me
I loved both Theoden's speeches and Aragorn's. But I found Sam's speech incredibly annoying.
@@boefjespost Sam’s was from the book this one was weak. Idk what you’re talking about
@@boefjespost why? I’m curious, because that speech is my favorite in all of fiction. It so perfectly embodies why I love stories and the impact I hope my stories will have on others in the future.
Aragorn is the epitome of a kingly character! I'd be charging right behind a leader like that!
You'd shit ur pants lmao
Not just a great king but a great man. And one who I aspire to be
The epitome of masculinity
King David was like that, in the front leading the armies into numerous victories
100%… “my friends… you bow to NO ONE”
6000 angry horsemen screaming death
Hoorah
DEATH DEATH DEATH
This is the correct answer.
I feel like all of the motivational speech in the lotr are great but aragon had loads but yer death is singlely the best shows us the massive disadvantage rohan has and all of a sudden there screaming death as they are probably going to there deaths
And No Man--two of them--Eowyn, and Merry
Just the fact that there are other speeches that some may think are better just goes to show how great the speeches of Lord of the Rings are
Honestly though. These movies are unrivaled for a reason lmfao.
@@Cup_Head_575and the books are even better, if you can believe it. Tolkien was a true virtuoso and master of not only writing, but imagining.
I think Theoden's are better but I think it's because he has been an actual king for longer than Aragorn. Aragon has been a leader but not a king.
Aragorn had far more experience as a captain and leading than Theodan. It is true he didn’t have the experience as a king at this point, but he did rule as king for far longer than Theodan. Kinda an unfair advantage with his life span lol.
@zachlewis9751 well yea if we are talking total life time but at this point Theoden was a king longer so I feel like he had a leg up on Aragorn in terms of rousing speeches for the troops.
Sam’s speech in Two Towers about, “That there’s still some good in this world…”
Easily the best speech.
“ and it’s worth fighting for “
😴😴😴😴
@James: So very true. Look for the faithful remnant when on that day the era of men comes to its close. Many Christian saints have made very similar statements as does Scripture. The faithful remnant motif carries throughout Tolkien’s works.
This 🙌
"Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
spear shall be shaken, shield shall be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending!
Death! Death! Death!
Forth Eorlingas"....
not calling it better but I get similar levels of hyped. One of the few speeches that I prefer.. film v book
Agreed
My favorite alteration is Gandalf speaking to Pippin during the siege of Gondor
End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?
GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
I call it better! Gives me chills every time 🙌
"My soldiers RAGE" 😢
DEATH!!!
And ive always tought he said and sun riders(which may make sense since rohan called every land to gather, and because the different names of the riders, sun riders/day and night knights)
Viggo is such a fantastic actor, he really doesnt get the credit he deserves. I mean for this role everyone loves him, and well deserved, but hes so great in everything he does. Eastern promises, the road, Apaloosa, etc.
Green Book, The History Of Violence, Alatriste, etc. I don't think he is underrated, though. I've spoken to many people who truly recognize and appreciate this man's multiple talents.
Two words. 'For Frodo'
That's the one that gets me too. Just them two words chokes me up
I love that Merry and Pippin are the first to charge with Aragorn after he said that
Should be four words: For Frodo and Sam🥺
@@mesetime It's not just about friendship, Frodo carries mankind's hopes with him, and Sam helps.
@@chronicler19 waaaaaaa.i still hear it 2004 to nowwww abd the violins 🎻 in my head 😢
"I can't carry it for you. But I can carry you"
Is the best for me everytime I watch it.
Merry(after taking on the Witchking) asking the dying Thendoens forhiveness and Theoden dying answers there is nothing to forgive, i understand you
I also love Boromir's death scene... Feel like it is such an underrated character.
This trilogy is just pure gold.
Boromir really grew on me over the years. As a kid I just saw him as this over zealous guy just thinks "i should be king, have the ring and screw everyone else". But now that i'm able to fully grasp the bigger picture here, his death scene really gets me. Watching the trilogy for the first time since binging it during the 2020 quarantine and seeing Boromir have that spirited, brotherly moment with Aragorn is amazing.
@@CorvusRedd Exactly the same that happened to me mate. Just a great scene with great music and a powerful speech
Sean Bean is such an underrated actor 😢
I would have followed you until the end .

Boromir’s “For Gondor” speech from the Extended Cuts was pretty good too.
"Good speech. Short."
"Leaves more time for drinking!"
Love the extended cuts
❤❤
If I had to make one change to the theatrical cuts, it would be adding this in.
I agree, Boromir's "For Gondor!" Osgiliath Speech is the best soliloquy no one has ever heard!
Sam’s speech about “there’s some good left in the world and it’s worth fighting for…”’
Even moved Gollum.
Gandalf's speech to Frodo in Moria (FOTR) - words to live by. Makes me well up every time
Can you give it to them?
@@elvatoz Frodo: I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times; but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. - from FOTR Movie
OR
“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
I spoke those same words at my fathers funeral. The was the one who showed me these wonderful, beautiful and brilliant movies. He showed me that even through pain and suffering, as he experienced through cancer, there is always room for light and happiness. He showed me not to look at the world for the darkness it holds, but all the good things it can be. He made the best of the time that was given to him, and now that’s all I can do.
Do not eager to deal out death and judgement.
" Many that live deserve to die, and many that die deserve to live."
Saruman’s speech before encouraging brave Uruk-hai to stain the land with the blood of Man, was the epitome of any speech. Gives me goosebumps Every Single Fucking Time
But, my Lord... there is no such army."
Whoaa we got a bad girl here🤓 Slytherin?
Almost 20 years later and it still gives me chills.
“Men of the West!”
Such a phrase could never be uttered in a movie today.
I feel like this is the last movie to do it and it's only fitting that it's the greatest ever.
I thought the same. This speech fits to today's situation for sure..
Give it a rest. Just enjoy- or at least let the rest of us without getting yourself in a tizzy
I mean, is *that* what makes this a good speech? Seriously?
@@TheDrewjameson yes, reddit pedo
Maybe Sam's speech in Two Towers, about good and evil. He touches both Faramir and Smeagol (tho not for long), and make Frodo get back to his senses after he gave up, try to give Nazgul the one ring, and threat Sam with his sword
I need this before every kids’ birthday party I’m forced to attend.
Lol!
Ahhahhahhahhahahaha . . .
Listening to the speech while reading your comment and cackling in LotR
😂
why? you gonna go anakin skywalker on the younglings?
''It's not this day, this day we fight" great speech.
Favourite speech in all of cinema! But Sams speech in the Two Towers does come close in Tolkien
@@samwisehuluberlu2210 Sam's speech grounds the reason why you shouldn't give up ultimately because there's still good in this world worth fighting for.
Aragorn's speech is for a moment of crisis when facing ridiculous odds, to rally the spirits of everyone present who had given up hope or were afraid of losing their lives, because they were losing who they are as people(In this case, warriors), it is a speech to re-ignite their will to fight, reminding them of the things Sam spoke of in his speech, so it is a combination of that speech's message and a new one on top of that because in this situation the men were losing their will to fight when faced with such odds...it is a speech for the hour of twilight or the seeming end, the very last fight and hurdle that will be more difficult than all others combined...it is that sort of speech for the final battle.
Theoden's was a speech to remove all fear, to willingly ride into the abyss with no hope of winning, only to make those who brought you to this point pay for what they've done and drag as many of them as you can down to hell with you. "Death!" was the battle cry, as if to embrace it and not be afraid of it, not anymore.
While Sam's speech calls out to the love you feel for people and things in the world
And Theoden's speech calls out to the soul of the warrior seeking to die on their feet with one final battle cry.
Aragorn's speech calls out to the will of humanity to not give up no matter the odds till the very end, even when standing in front of the very gates of Mordor(Hell).
Okay but can we talk how gorgeous Brego looks in this scene? Like, I was around my 7th time watching LOTR when i actually paid attention to Brego and my gosh is he a beautiful horse.. I know Aragorn's speech by heart now, so every time it comes up i don't even listen to the words anymore I'm just like: "look at the horses"
King Theoden’s speech I like better. Still gets me choked up after all these years 😢
"How did it come to this..."
The Ride of the Rohirrim is the high point of Jackson's Trilogy, which is saying A LOT.
@@DeathoftheWestman that speech is so fuckin corageous
Theodans speech is something else. Not talking eragorn down he was giving hope to a broken men in the face of pure extinction. But theodan talked his men into march into suicide. Theodans speech makes me cry and gives me chills almost every time dude. The chant after the speech "death!!" So amazing
Boromir's speech after retaking Osgiliath is top of the list for me
"Even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those are the stories that stay with you."
But yes, this speech is very inspiring, too in a different way. So many great quotes in the series!
I like Theoden's speech at the pelennor fields slightly more, but this one is objectively better.
This speech is more generally applicable, while Theoden's speech was more contextual. Aragorn had nothing to prove to himself or anyone else in this scene. Theoden completed his arc in making this speech, and in that moment, he stopped wondering if he was up to the legacy of his ancestors.
All of the speeches in these movies give me chills
You guys really gotta make me choose? Just about every speech brings a tear to my eye. Gandalf's words to Pippin during the Seige of Minas Tirith i think takes the cake though, especially knowing the story behind that scene
I can't choose! Everyone of them are magnificent!
The most encouraging speech ever made.
Theodens speech at gondor is my favorite. 6,000 dudes screaming for death right before they charge through the orcs like they're butter. Gives me chills every time. Got me in the house yelling death right along with them lol
Theoden before the ride of the Roherim. And his little speech before they ride out at helms deep.
“This is where we hold them, this is where we fight, this is where they die”
“Arm the shields boys” “Aaaooo!”
“Remember this day men, for it will be yours for all time..”

Theodens speech at The Pelanor Fields has it beat.
As much as I love that speech, the one he makes at Helms Deep just hits me harder.
"The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the deep one last time. Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn. Forth Èorlingas!"

@@UncleRuckus2134oh that's pretty cool

I honestly thought there would never be a speech that could better the 1 in Braveheart, but, I was wrong. Viggo Mortensen's speech, and the delivery, in this film was just incredible. Every time I watch it, I get chills, and all the little hairs on my arms stand to attention.
Honestly, I cannot imagine anyone else playing Aragorn and doing a better job. Viggo's performance was truly amazing!❤
I think the fact that Viggo stayed in character in-between shots is part of the reason his performancewas so good. Viggo was so invested and entrenched in his role that, in between shots, Peter Jackson managed to go for 30 minutes calling him Aragorn before Viggo noticed, which, to me, just goes to show how far he went into his character.
But when you watch his performance, it was obviously the right thing to do because he didn't put a toe wrong in the whole trilogy.
And speaking of his toe, he actually broke it during the scene where he kicked an Orc helmet, thinking Merry and Pippin had died in the Orc slaughter. The scream he did was real, but he didn't show or complain about the pain until the scene ended. Peter Jackson later said that he was really impressed at how great Viggo's scream of loss and pain was, but that was before he knew it was an actual scream of pain. Now that is some serious dedication, to stay in character throughout that scene having just suffered a painful accident.
Plus, how gorgeous did he look in this trilogy? People always talk about "Legolss syndrone", but I think Viggo had it too. He definitely looked better in these films than I've seen him look in other films. Even if his character was "covered in blood and dirt" a lot. He was still hot af😆☺🥵
Its emotional that always getting tears in my eyes and many goosebumps around me.
When he screams "men of the west".... always gives me a chill
LOTR speeches are on another level
No wonder Aragorn oversaw a period of peace and prosperity and unity. When a man uses all the power and position bestowed upon him to inspire, unite, and lead as Aragorn did, no mountain is too tall, no setback too costly, and no challenge is too daunting to overcome. My brother, my captain, my king!
Gandalf's speech to Pippin in minas tirith as the troll is bashing the gate. Man that one gets me choked up every time
4sure
You know, as many below have noted, there were many great speeches in LotR. Maybe the question should be, " Does this film have more great speeches than any other film. Please remember that the Academy thought all 3 parts make one film.
Its like comparing diamonds to diamonds every speech is badass but Sam's in two towers is the most amazing. I tear up everytime I see it
Still gives me shivers after all these years... and yet still my favorite film of all time

I really enjoyed the speech gandalf gave at the fellowship council... I didn't understand it but looked like it quelled the fighting 🤣
Chills, man. Such a brilliantly delivered speech.
Theoden's speech is still unparalleled
Theoden’s speech at the Battle of the Pelenor Fields always gives me goosebumps. “RIDE! RIDE FOR RUIN AND THE WORLDS ENDING! DEATH! DEATH! DEATH!” and this just before he dies… its just amazing

Theoden's rally cry is more impressive
This is my favorite speech.
Aragorn empathizes with his soldiers and understands the fear in their eyes, but reassured them that today is not the day that men fall.
Theoden’s speech is also amazing, there’s something so inspiring about everyone yelling “DEATH!!!” together, especially with the adjustment to Rohan’s music theme in that scene.
Low-key always imagined being in that crowd like "WHAT DID HE SAY?"
Aragorn is for me the best charachter in Lotr, but theoden speach gave me chills from the beggining to the end, and the shout of death is legendary
To this day Aragorn is still one of the most badass characters!
