I remember I was an overnight stocker at stop and shop, my boss liked me so much he forced me to take a assistant manager position for front end. I had NO CLUE how front end ran so I just introduced myself to my new team said hey I'm your new boss now let's train me on how you all do your jobs. We all get along great and I was recommended for a higher position, I declined because I signed up for the army. Basically what I'm trying to say is no shame not knowing your employees jobs just make the effort to learn it and you'll be suprised how far your employees will go to help you

A special shout out to those who post these malicious compliance videos. Thanks to you, I am a more efficient employee who stays in his own lane while tending his own garden. You suggested to me how I can multi-task my personal business during my down time while on the clock.

Oh man i miss the spam mail when they came in the letter box with a postage paid reply envelope. I used always get a kick out of sending their advertising back to them while they had to pay to receive it haha

My uncle filled a box with scrap metal and taped the envelope to the top. They probably didn't $75 to get it shipped back. He no longer got junk mail from them.

Story 30: I hope there's a special place in hell for people who use their kids as leverage to get what they want. At the horse rental stable I worked at, we had a policy that if it was over 100 degrees, we had to reschedule rides for later when it was cooler and close the ranch down. One day it was about 115 degrees and all of the guides were inside when a minivan pulled up. I went outside to see if the person wanted information, and it was a grandma with her 4 year old granddaughter in the car seat. She wanted us to take her granddaughter out on a trail ride. I told her that unfortunately it was way too hot that day and we weren't going to be able to take trail rides out for the next four or five hours. She complained loudly that she'd driven 100 miles that day for her granddaughter to come ride. I said sorry, it's 115 degrees out and it's not safe for riders, especially little children who were more sensitive to heat, and that she'd have to come back later or make a reservation (which we always recommend so this very thing doesn't happen). She then turned around in her seat and said to her granddaughter "sorry, you CAN'T ride today. NO RIDING THE PONY. Because she" (she pointed at me) "won't let you." We all sorta waited in silence expected the granddaughter to cry or something, and the granddaughter just sorta looked around blankly and said "oh."
After that, the grandma just asked for a flyer, turned the car around, and left. I'm sorry, grandma, that I wasn't able to take your tiny granddaughter out in 115 degree heat where she would have been burning up in minutes, sweating and uncomfortable on horseback. We specifically put the policy in place because it's not safe for the little ones, and trying to purposely make her grandkid upset like that in order to put her in danger was just... I don't get people.

for the mealplan story: i would talk to the staff the other times I would do that and allow them to prepare, so be like:"hey, Im bringing in 30 friends to eat next thursday". So the staff can prepare and the homeless can eat till they are full without having to worry about the food being scarce

In UK we have a train line (the C2C) that has 'quiet' coaches, places where phones are ok, but keep the noise down. I'd often go in those just to avoid loud music or loud phone calls. Didn't stop a few people, but a reminder 'this is a quiet coach' normally shut them up, or made them move XD

I’m still surprised that rice guy didn’t go hungry from people just taking his rice because he never comes back.

Love your narration! Very easy to close our eyes and imagine the situations. The only problem is that I have to find the spot where I fell asleep lol. Also love that you are reading some replies.

Companies want your business; money. They don't care, Your Name is on their LIST, so they try hard to sell you something worthless and get your money!!

Generally companies see workers as bottom-of-the-barrel and expendable, and it takes having to lose a ton of money in rehiring and losing quality workers before they take a look at management, because money is what talks. Sadly, it's cheaper to fire the occasional quality worker rather than take a look at the manager's policies, and it takes having a mass exodus, or the firing/quitting of a few highly skilled workers that need to be replaced by many more workers, to get upper-management's attention. There's virtually no communication between workers and upper management (especially if it's all just complaints and not actual violations in company policy), so you need to get their attention where it matters: their wallets.

Years ago I took a city bus and paid with a $20 bill. Bus fair was $1 and didn’t have time to change it. The bud driver had always been grumpy for no reason. He was pissed that he had break the $20 bill. He ended up giving $24 in change, when I realised he had given an extra $5. I returned it to him explaining what he had done. After that he was always very polite to me, even years later.

Adelson told the magic against your parking in a handicap spot so obviously you have nothing better to do the stare out the window all the time maybe we should tell your boss you stare at the window and make false accusations all the time that's why no work is getting done here and you need to hire more people see what happens then

The Karen who thought she was Bill and all because her husband was a local business owner and her car you do know enough parking tickets on your car and you'll lose your license and they will tow your car and they will sell your car to pay for the fines but you will still owe for the toffee and the storage until it's sold if you don't pay yet and not only that you won't have a license then when you go to register a new car that you bought can't get it registered under your name cuz it's under your name they will seize it immediately lesbian that way since probably the 70s or 80s
