  • In this video we demonstrate how to fix a vehicle with low fan power coming out of the vents when the air conditioning is on. We demonstrate how to replace the fan blower motor on a 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner (all Gen 3 vehicles)

    I appreciate this video! I had a dead rat stuck in the blower. Rat's gone and the blower runs true. It also smells better in there now : )

    Nice video. Do any of these fans have an air filter. I saw another video where an filter is tucked inside the blower.

    • @chi4life61
      @chi4life61 Год назад

      Yes you can buy that filter and what you do as you would take that fan out put the filter in first you would screw through the hole and then put the fan back in. Because there are no cabin filters like for my 2002 Toyota forerunner example

    Am I tripping or do you not even need to remove the side panel or floor trim?

    • @gorillainacoupe1900
      @gorillainacoupe1900 2 года назад

      Update you don’t need to remove the trim if you have an angled bit or a small ratchet. Just undid three screws and knocked the trash out without unplugging the harness and it blows stronger than a lot lizard now!

    Super helpful video! I was trying to diagnose a strange sound every time the AC blower went on. Turns out it was a mouse!🤢

    do you know where the cabin air filter is on a 2001 4runner ?

      Third gen 4Runner’s don’t have a cabin air filter, just one for the air intake.

    Great job! Thanks for the great instructions and for the part numbers! I followed this to change out the blower motor on my 2004 Tacoma (pretty much the same except I actually didn't have to remove my door step panels). I also replaced the resistor, but my A/C still doesn't work on all of the speeds. Any thoughts on what else could be causing that? I'm getting cold air, and everything else seems fine it just works on some speeds, then drops out on others.

      Are you sure the replacement resistor is good ? I could not count the new parts i have purchased that were no good right out of the box.

    My 97 T100 fan works on all speeds, but it just seems weak. Any ideas? Something clogged? (it's lived a pretty clean life on my driveway.) Could the fan motor be going bad yet still blowing on all speeds? Are these just weak systems that have always been that way?

    Nice job, thanks. This is the third time I've had to pull the blower, first in my older '98 4Runner (dead mouse! Yuck). This was the second time with my '99. First time I was afraid it was another rodent but it was just a collection of sticks, probably rodent-based. Fortunately, no rotting flesh. Does the 3rd gen have a filter of any kind to keep the outside mice outside of the fan? I can't fine the outside air intake or I'd replace or add some kind of anti-mouse screen.
    This time the source was internal as it was totally packed and clogged, about 3/4-in deep (inside the squirrel cage) with what looked like rug fibers from the padding under the floor mats. Clean-out took longer than your video but now it works well. No cabin filter, huh? The biggest, and most time consuming, problem was seeing and unscrewing (and rescrewing) the three 8mm screws. Total PITA ding contortions in a confined space when working upside down. But it's done! Thanks. Only 250,000 miles on this truck!

    I have a question, on the 96 4 runner,where does it pull in the air for the AC when you have it on max, it's sucking up my dog's hair and I want to maybe shove some filter type fabric in front of it so maybe it will help, I see a fan under the pass seat could that be it, just point in the direction from the floor board under the glove box if it's under there, thanks.

    You maybe should’ve asked them if they wanted to put the filter in there since there’s no cabin filter they put it on this fan usually😊

    Had a quick question, will this fix the issue I’m having with the driver left vent or is there a separate blower motor for that side?

    It worked! 😃 I have a 2000 Toyota 4Runner, the fan motor was working fine but I could hear a ticking sound every time I turned the fan on. So I took it apart just as you showed and I found a little piece of dry rotted weather stripping that had fallen into the fan cage so I removed it and put everything back together and it worked like a champ minus the annoying sound - Yay! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. 🤗

      I have a 4runner from 2000, it is my first car and I love it, I just have one question, do you know if this year's models use a cabin air filter?

      I'm sure you know the answer to this already but the answer is no it does not come with a cabin air filter from the factory.
