- Why bother about a guru? Required for spiritual guidance? Shortcut to enlightenment? A wrong selection can wreck your path, ruin all your endeavour in your spiritual life. If you ever consider to look for a guru, you need to learn how to distinguish between a real guru and a fake.
The Teacher and the Guru (what is the diference)
A teacher takes responsibility of your growth
A Guru makes you responsible for your growth
A teacher gives you things you do not have and require
A Guru takes away things you have and do not require
A teacher answers your questions
A Guru questions your answers
A teacher helps you get out of the maze
A Guru destroys the maze
A teacher requires obedience and discipline from the pupil
A Guru requires trust and humility from the pupil
A teacher clothes you and prepares you for the outer journey

One can always find a teacher

When the discourse is over you are eternally grateful to the Guru
Good video -- I think the key discernment piece for me, as you mentioned, is if they want something for themselves. If they desire or fear "others" then they must not have Realized that are no others.

Anyone who does videos on how to spot fake gurus is themselves acting as a fake guru.
Unfortunately, the ego can only interpret an enlightened being as being prideful, fake or "other"
It's sad people go to lengths to knock the other versions of themselves.
It points to a dualistic mental disposition.
You will know them by their fruits.
I'm not knocking this video either.
Just pointing to the lack of attraction rather than promotion (or anti- promotion)

@@americansage If you are looking for the real, you have to learn how to distinguish it from the unreal. If you want to buy gold at a jeweller, you should be able to detect an imitation. Otherwise, there is no need to talk about the imitation... it's just useless talk.
@@Aksara108 But a fake guru is distinguished by his offering himself as a go between, a middle man. You are trying to tell people who can be trusted. How do they know they can trust you? Isn't it by the same power of discernment within themselves? Aren't you implicitly encouraging them to mistrust their own ability to discern truth by acting as an authority on whom they should trust and whom they shouldn't?
You show a few faces near the start of this video. Do you mean that these people (I recognised Sahdguru and E. Tolle) are fake?
Thank you for this question. I am not pointing at anyone as being fake. I am trying to point out a few principles by which people can distinguish themselves between a genuine and a fake guru. The faces at the beginning of the video are just modern day popular gurus. But popularity doesn't prove genuineness as history is teaching us.
Why you thitk Sadhguru is composter?
Sadhguru is a true guru for a beginner but when the spiritual seeker advances in the practice he becomes a fake guru for them. That is how I started too by following Sadhguru initially. Even fake gurus play a role in this illusory world.
