Thanks! I know for me I've dismissed some of them because the presets weren't that good, but once I started learning how they worked I noticed they have much more potential.
@@thomaskatt4450 I was just about to ask how these compare to commercial VST's... if they're like a basic stepping stone or actually something that can compete with them. Seems they're more than ok :)
Very thorough overview. I had a specific question (how to turn on Key Follow for filter), I certainly found the answer to that, but also learned a lot more. Thank you!
Been using Ableton for quite a while and never really explored its internal Analog synth, since I use a lot of external plugins. Your video was a game changer and very inspiring to me. Thank you!
Excellent video man. Taught me quite a lot about this synth. It looks visually complex but you explained the complexity so well to the point that it’s no longer complex. You earned my subscription.
Thanks, been messing with Ableton for a few years but never touched their synths now that you've give me a bit of an understanding, it's time to start using them.
This is an awesome overview. Granted you need a basic understanding of synthesis - which until recently I did not - but now I have grasped the basics this is exactly the type of short sharp overview to get me playing with Analog properly. Thanks muchly. Have liked, subscribed and will scout your other content. Your pace, while perhaps fast for some, is perfect for me. No fluff or time wastage. I have little time as it is so again, this is super. Nice one.
The Poly 800 and EX 800 have slope time, in their 6stages envellopes :D ! It goes like this : Attak, decay, Breakpoint (db), slope (ms) sustain, release ; This synth has so much hate on the internet but it's a favourite of mine, when you know how to use it it's just fantastic
How did you get the latency on your midi keyboard to be like zero? I adjusted my sample rate down to as low as 768 but there is still a little lag when I hit the keys which makes it difficult to compose bass lines. Sample rate is 44100 and driver error compensation is -300ms. I still can't get rid of that millisecond lag of when I hit the notes. I'm using a Novations 61SL MKIII
Use ASIO drivers on Windows. You'll need either ASIO4All or a dedicated USB interface. Ableton covers the issue in details on their website by the way. Good luck!
Nice video! I started to finally look for descent tutorials to learn ableton. The manual is too much to read haha. Anyway, nice tutorial. Maybe compare the parameters with everyday simple things in life? Thanks man, I recently discovered your channel (how you make indie songs).
Great tutorial! Clear, concise and very informative. Just subscribed! And yeah, it's a shame the presets are so bad because this synth clearly is a powerhouse!
I'm having hard time understanding how to get the sound I have in mind. Like, for example, I can't even get the classic "trap bass" sound, which should be only a sine wave. Moreover, I don't udnerstand why the volume of bass notes is so low in Analog with the Sine wave (I'm using the DT770 Pro 250Ohm and a Scarlett 2i4). Could you help me or redirect to something I could watch/read to better know how to actually get the sounds?
Great video mate, but no ADSR on the oscillators? Trying to use the attack paramator to stop a long note reseting each time it's repeated. I tried using the envelope on the filters but I still cant get that smooth start to a key using an attack slope. Is there a way of doing this with the Analog?
Thanks for the tutorial. Not hating but you could make the Analog screen bigger like the size of your camera. I'm at work and i can't see it in full screen mode.
What is the unit of the frequency mod? Its kind of confusing when the value is just displayed? If the mod is set to 16, what does it mean? Also, does negative envolopes work only if the mod value is set to negative? I don't hear any difference when cut off is fully opened and the mod value is set to 4. I expected it go down from full frequency to the 4.
I have a Behringer Neutron, Arturia KeyStep, and UA - Apollo Twin. I have an output from Behringer Neutron to UA Apollo Twin through TRS cable going inside the Line 2 of my UA Apollo Twin. I have a Arturia Keystep connected to my computer through a USB. Now when I have connected the Neutron to my Apollo and the sound comes out directly unless I put the volume down from the Neutron. Can you share how to record the sound coming out from Neutron to Ableton.
This synth....it would have been perfect for me if it wasn't for exactly one simple problem - the Env>Filter Amount knob cannot be modulated without stepping. Literally ever other parameter in this synth doesn't have that problem; apparently AAS thought people wouldn't do that when they built Ultra Analog VA-1 and let Ableton reskin it into this. Seriously, if it wasn't for that I don't think I'd need another analog style softsynth. Alas.

Just gonna chime in here and echo what STILIN said and say f.lux is fantastic for me as I used to suffer from migraines too when using my PC for a long time. In saying that using dark themes will put a lot less stress on your eyes and I wouldn't go back to bright themes after using dark ones. Look into trying both these things and see how you go :)

Ableton’s native synths are way better than most people seem to think. Never understood the hate.
Great video as always.
Thanks! I know for me I've dismissed some of them because the presets weren't that good, but once I started learning how they worked I noticed they have much more potential.
once upon a synth yes! Exactly. The truth of the matter is Ableton’s preset patches need to be rethought. They’re objectively bad.
operator is bad ass.
agreed, the code is licensed from AAS Ultra Analog, considered a very good synth...

I love this synth. It's one of the virtual analog synths I seem to use the most.
hey seriously, these tutorials are so to the point! it's the second one i fall on, and wow, you are very concise, precise, and interesting! THANK YOU!

I only just got started messing around with piano sounds and mostly synths. This was super helpful 🙏🙌
Used this for years and overlooked the envelope loops, that sounds great on the filter.
Loved the content bro! Thanks for that, a lot of info fitted exactly in the time that we need.
Informative tutorials with great examples and no fluff. Sincere thanks!

wow that was well-explained. Very straight forward down to the very detail. Thank yoou very much!!
Polished, fluent and informative! Grateful .. Thanks
wow , the best explanation I had. Thank you !!!
i wish i had this video 5 years ago, but it's wonderful to have now, still learned a lot, thanks!
Still very interesting in 2021, now at least I know what every knob does (although the ears are the best judge in the end). Thanks!
How did you do the sound from 14:37?
Super concise explanation! Thanks & Cheers.
ahh to know that much about the workings of a synth....kudos
Just got suite for myself, very useful video for getting used to this daw and its synths!

how would you modulate the LFO rate so that on each key press it starts off fast and then settles to a set rate?
Cool, but were is the instrument? Can't seem to find it.

Some heroes don't wear capes.
Its great when you open a review and guy just fucking talk and actually showing the vst is like 2 seconds of the whole video.Congrats
If you had zoomed on the synth that would be perfect, it's too small to see on my phone!
For some reason, I can't hear a damn thing from the LFO's on mine
I have this problem too
Does anybody know if Live's 11 Analog has more waveforms?

it doesnt have a sequencer?
No, but you can use Ableton's sequencer to modulate parameters, if that's what you mean.

I can’t see anything on the screen of my laptop
ableton has a zoom menu
