Ableton’s native synths are way better than most people seem to think. Never understood the hate.
    Great video as always.

Thanks! I know for me I've dismissed some of them because the presets weren't that good, but once I started learning how they worked I noticed they have much more potential.

once upon a synth yes! Exactly. The truth of the matter is Ableton’s preset patches need to be rethought. They’re objectively bad.

@@thomaskatt4450 I was just about to ask how these compare to commercial VST's... if they're like a basic stepping stone or actually something that can compete with them. Seems they're more than ok :)

This is an awesome overview. Granted you need a basic understanding of synthesis - which until recently I did not - but now I have grasped the basics this is exactly the type of short sharp overview to get me playing with Analog properly. Thanks muchly. Have liked, subscribed and will scout your other content. Your pace, while perhaps fast for some, is perfect for me. No fluff or time wastage. I have little time as it is so again, this is super. Nice one.

How did you get the latency on your midi keyboard to be like zero? I adjusted my sample rate down to as low as 768 but there is still a little lag when I hit the keys which makes it difficult to compose bass lines. Sample rate is 44100 and driver error compensation is -300ms. I still can't get rid of that millisecond lag of when I hit the notes. I'm using a Novations 61SL MKIII

Use ASIO drivers on Windows. You'll need either ASIO4All or a dedicated USB interface.
Ableton covers the issue in details on their website by the way.

I'm having hard time understanding how to get the sound I have in mind. Like, for example, I can't even get the classic "trap bass" sound, which should be only a sine wave. Moreover, I don't udnerstand why the volume of bass notes is so low in Analog with the Sine wave (I'm using the DT770 Pro 250Ohm and a Scarlett 2i4). Could you help me or redirect to something I could watch/read to better know how to actually get the sounds?

Great video mate, but no ADSR on the oscillators? Trying to use the attack paramator to stop a long note reseting each time it's repeated.
I tried using the envelope on the filters but I still cant get that smooth start to a key using an attack slope. Is there a way of doing this with the Analog?

What is the unit of the frequency mod? Its kind of confusing when the value is just displayed? If the mod is set to 16, what does it mean? Also, does negative envolopes work only if the mod value is set to negative? I don't hear any difference when cut off is fully opened and the mod value is set to 4. I expected it go down from full frequency to the 4.

This synth....it would have been perfect for me if it wasn't for exactly one simple problem - the Env>Filter Amount knob cannot be modulated without stepping. Literally ever other parameter in this synth doesn't have that problem; apparently AAS thought people wouldn't do that when they built Ultra Analog VA-1 and let Ableton reskin it into this. Seriously, if it wasn't for that I don't think I'd need another analog style softsynth. Alas.
